Connie and Nyra's Halloween Party - 29A (Connie's Loft)

The usually naked steel of 29A's sliding door has been covered with a Jolly Roger-style black pirate flag. Standing open, the door allows entrance into the loft proper. A small table stands at the center of the landing between the two apartments, and a burly security guard sits behind it. He wears the patch of Nachton Security. A sign reads: Pumpkin Contest, Judging 12AM. Costume Contest, Judging 1AM.

Flags of several countries - notably Spain, France, Portugal, England, and Italy - are hanging at equidistant points on the walls around the loft. Old Glory hides the bed, which has been moved adjacent to the bathroom, and any coats or extra paper plates or similar supplies upon it. Artistically false swords dangle above head-height, some eight or ten feet to the lowest from the ceiling. Some small sailing ship models hang above the dancing area. Skulls and rolls of parchment are perched on some tables throughout the space. Flickering candles and brass oil lamps have replaced the light fixtures in the room. The bathroom door has two "masts" to either side, complete with partial "sails".

The corner where the bed stood, at the northeast side of the apartment, is cordoned off partially with a sign that reads, "Fer Dems that Wants to Dance." Soft music is playing at the moment, but a music selection including a Halloween-themed CD, as well as the soundtracks for Pirates of the Caribbean, The Goonies, Beetlejuice, and other similar scary or pirate movies has been queued for playing. Other contemporary dance music has been mixed in as well.

The stairs to the "office" have been blocked with a sign reading, "Here Ye Find Death, Should Ye Pass." A table constructed specifically to stand upon the stairs holds a rather intricate Ship in a Bottle - painted with the name Black Pearl - and is denoted with the sign, Door Prize #2. A tiny machine sits at the corner of the "office;" every ten minutes or so it sprays a concoction which is hypoallergenic, but has a scent not unlike that of a sea breeze.

One path around the island is blocked off, and the counter to one side has been stocked with all manner of booze. A bartender stands ready to serve; she is dressed in a plain - but revealing - tavern wench outfit. An ice tray stands next to her, shaped like the hull of a sailing ship.

The blue corduroy couch and loveseat have been moved just to the side of the entrance, facing the "dance area." They have been covered by black sheets and plastic - for safety's sake. Soft chairs are piled in the right-hand corner for folks to sit upon.

An attractive, medium-height woman, almost unrecognizable in her costume, mingles among the guests. A deep red bandana with a tiny sun icon at the front is tied tightly about her head, and her right eye is covered with a velvet red eyepatch. Two "scars" stretch from each of her ears to her jaw very close to her blood-red lips. Burgundy jacket hanging from her shoulders, sleeves extending to mid-forearm with wide cuffs. The jacket is unbuttoned and displaying copious amounts of flesh and cleavage, her breasts pushed up and together by a white leather corset. Baggy black pantaloons are held up by a wide leather belt, from which hangs an old-style single-shot pistol, a compass, a rapier, and a three-point black hat. The hat has a pewter sun medallion on it; the peace-tied hilt of the sword has half of a sun profile built into it. Pantaloons are hanging just above the edge of calf-high black leather boots, whose heels seem to be holding the wearer three inches higher than usual.

Connie's loft is awash with colors of navy and sea blue, deep black, blood red and pure white. A light shines on each and every flag, but the atmosphere is lit mostly by candles and lamps.

Suki walked up the steps, hoping her high heels didn't catch on the metal stairs. Comforted by Cyrus' hand on her back, she smiled at the guy behind a table. Handing their invitation to him and listening to his description made her smile. Knowing Cyrus they would go get a beer first.

Smoothing her dress she entered the pirate domain. Its decorations were fabulous. She was really impressed by the swords and flags. Coming to stand at the bar she requested a glass of wine and a bottle of Kirin for Cyrus whom came up behind her. He looked very handsome in his suit.

((Cyrus described and moved with permission))

Cyrus took his beer grateful from his date. The music was interesting. The beer was cold. And his Suki was lovely.

He found a place to put their drinks for a moment before sweeping her to the dance floor and holding her close as they moved to the music.

(( From 29B. ))

Adopting her pirate's accent, Connie warbled, "Don' mind the mess, mateys. And don' ye be makin none either!"

Giggling to herself, she squeezed Nyra gently before turning towards the bar. "Anyone up fer some mead or grog?" Winking at Bertrand, she asked, "Or port?"
Bertrand 19 years ago
"I will gladly make the gallery available to you at your request! But the lovely pirate is correct, let us save the negotiations for a later date."

Bertrand would have talked art all night, though he knew his artist would be most embarrassed. Perking up at the mention of port, he made his way, with a plate full of goodies, to the bar.

"Any Port in the storm is good Port." He chuckled to himself as the bartender wench filled his request. Noting the couple on the dance floor he made a note to meet with them and hand out his card. The meeting with Shay and Mathias made him very sad that he had left the brochures at the gallery.

Cyrus looked up at the entrance of a crowd of people, though he did not stop dancing with Suki.

Calling out his reply he attempted a 50's New York Mobster accent.
"No worries Cap'n. I wont let blood on your floor. Now ya bar, dats a different story!"

Connie did her best not to groan aloud. Instead, she smiled wryly, and with arm upraised, quietly yelled, "Arr!"

Giggling, she turned to the bartender-wench-girl. "Two virgin daquiris, one strawberry, one mango please."

While the girl mixed up her and Nyra's drinks, she noticed the people dancing. "Arr, there be dancers here!"

Smiling at the man's response, she nodded and turned back to her guests. "Me be wondrin' who them dancers are!"
Nyra 19 years ago
Giggling at the silly comments flying about, Nyra didn't worry about who was who. They had sent out a lot of invitations to a lot of people. "I am sure once they tire of dancing they will come introduce themselves. I love her dress though. How cute is that!"

Nyra felt the need to get back to her apartment soon to hostess, even though she new the catering company would help with anything there. 'Just a few minutes here with my pirate before heading back to the tent.' she promised herself.

Connie smiled around and saw the flannel-ensconced, jean-clad younger man. "I'm so terribly, terribly sorry, Jan is it? I kind of spaced there for a moment after Nyra introduced us." She leaned over to him and offered a conspiratorial stage whisper, "This is my very first hosted party, and honestly, I should be a better hostess, since none of the people here are my own friends..."

She looked around at the party-attendees. "Well, not yet anyway, but I hope my almost-forgot-you-were-hereness doesn't affect that eventuality in any way!"
Nyra 19 years ago
Nyra smiled at her love's comment. The woman was extremely organized and normally on top of every detail. A slip up here and there into absentmindedness would be forgiven.

Speaking of leaving others out, Nyra looked around for their black clad Serena. Hopefully she was either here amid the bodies or next door enjoying the food, pumpkin painting, seating or availing herself to the henna and paint.
Mathias 19 years ago
Mathias blushed at shay's suggestion, even as certain parts of him relished it already. He indeed had a place to 'hide' the card - and searching for it later would be fun.

"Mead please Connie - Shay dear? Would you like anything?" He surveyed the room and enjoyed the decorations. The flags were a nice touch and added to Connie's costume.

A waltz began playing on the sound system, and Mathias escorted Shay onto what passed as a dance area. they moved in time,as if one. The feel of Shay in his arms, the ease of movement...it reminded him of another time.....

Savannah, 1862. The Civil War raged on,but Sherman had not begun his march. Her name was Annabelle, and they met at a cotillion. He swept her off her feet - late that night, in a garden she pledged herself to Mathias and offered her charms. Sadly for Annabelle,Mathias had long since given in to his darker nature. They would find her, dawn's light playing across her pallid skin. Mathias was long gone - her scream echoing in his ears..

Shaking the vision out of his head, Mathias looked down at his...what was Shay? More than a lover, and yet they both left unspoken anything deeper. Looking at the wondrous woman in his arms,Mathias smiled. Shay was not Annabelle, this is not Savannah and he was no longer bound by his dark side.

" I am again reminded how wonderfully you move Milady"
Cyrus 19 years ago
As the waltz started, Cyrus and Suki relinquished the floor to the other couple. Shame the scantily clad lion was with the fellow. Of course if he was pulling her to dance a waltz it was a pretty good bet that he was a fellow blood sucker. Cyrus made note not to hit on the lion.

The couple made their way to the "Captain". Cyrus stuck out his hand to her while admiring her corset, lovely things those were.

"Cyrus Arslantai and Suki Langston. I received an invitation from a friend and since we are both relatively new to Nachton, we decided to come. Lovely party and decorations."

He had actually pulled the invitation off a guy leaving some Victorian house at the far end of the Strip. Guy was happy to donate the card and more to the vampire's hunger. And where else to find more snacks than at a party? Cyrus kept his smile pleasant and stove to hide his fangs.

Jan looked at Connie and smiled.

"I wouldn't think much of it and It would be hard for me to complain about someone spacing out when its a favorite pass time of mine."

Looking thoughtful at the whisper, he added in a hushed tone of his own.

"Well you could always threaten em with a sword. "Drink up me hearties or ye'll walk the plank!" hmm, do you happen to have a plank around here?"

The only plank walking was likely to be in the form of a sobriety test but that could be an interesting thing to watch. Jan found drunk people amusing and when he wasn't lost in thought at the club, his time was generally spent watching the antics of the people around him.

Turning to the girl behind the bar, he asked for a glass of red wine and then turned back to Connie and the others.
Shay 19 years ago
Choosing to accept a sip of his drink instead, Shay declined anything further for the moment. She was much more interested in dancing, and easily moved in to his arms, as Mathias began to waltz.

Though Shay wasn't that familiar with the waltz, she could follow quite well, especially when led by Mathias. She just put herself into his care, and let him take her where he would.

As they moved around the room, Shay noticed someone she'd seen before, at the House of Pain. The man now only had one woman on his arm, but the night she'd seen him he'd been dancing with two other women...and dancing quite...erotically. But that had been the night she'd met Mathias, and further thoughts of the other man fled.

Mathias
"I am again reminded how wonderfully you move Milady"

"Only for you, my love."

The words slipped out, so caught up in the moment was she. However, she quickly tried to back step, still not wanting to appear too fast, or forward. And seeing something akin to pain flicker past his eyes, she grew somewhat alarmed.

"Mathias? Are you all right?"

She touched her fingertip to his forehead, and stroked across the furrow there.
Connie 19 years ago
Connie did her best to pay attention to the two dancers as they approached and introduced themselves. One slipup was too many, as far as she was concerned, even though he was rather amiable about it. "Cyrus, Suki, welcome. Glad to have you both."

Connie couldn't help giggling at Jan's words, then repeating them loudly.

"Drink up me hearties, dance and eat and have fun! Thar pumpkin paintin's ta start at nine!"

Whispering again to Jan, she said, "We figured a plank would be a bad idea. Liability and all that. Neither Nyra nor myself drink, but that doesn't mean someone else wouldn't take the piratic characterization a tad too far, you know?"
Mathias 19 years ago
"Only for you, my love."

Mathias leaned in when Shay said that and kissed her lips softly. "And in your arms my love, I become more than I am." It was true - they both knew what had happened, what they had felt. And yet - how can you profess love to someone you are deceiving?

"Mathias? Are you all right?"
He nodded. The memories had faded,as they always did. "Sorry Shay - guess I drank the mead too quickly. " He smiled weakly, hoping she would accept that.

The music over,Mathias noticed Shay looking at a young man with his date. He recognized him from The House of Pain the night he met and wondered if that was Paul.
"Friend of yours hon?"
Shay 19 years ago
His response to her was perfect. She doubted had she written herself a mate, she could have done as well. And yet it was that perfection that frightened her a little. But worrying about that was for later...to enjoy, that was for now.

The excuse of the mead wasn't bought, though she wasn't going to press him on it now either. Instead she just looked at him with acceptance, and a small smile that played across her face.

His mention of Cyrus...the name she had just overheard...gave her a bit of a start. She didn't know why, but as a result she just hugged Mathias a bit closer.

"No...we've never met. I only saw him once before...that night I met you at the House of Pain."

And at the mention of Paul, Shay had to wonder what ever became of him. But again her thoughts were quickly refocused back on Mathias...and then the 'pirates' and their comedic banter.

"Truly Connie...you and Nyra have created magical places tonight...I am in awe of your abilities. And being able to stay in character is quite a feat as well. I just can't quite get a roar down to use for my character, without sounding silly."

Yet Mathias was able to retain his knight in shining armor personality too. She was such a failure when it came to acting out...unless on paper.
Mathias 19 years ago
Standing behind Shay, he whispered in her ear "You were purring quite well last night" Louder,to those around "Truly, this is a most festive party! Two cheers for our hosts!! "
Shay 19 years ago
"Grrrrrrowwwllll..."

Shay managed a very good guttural noise, way in the back of her throat, though also managed to keep it fairly quiet. At the same time she slyly moved her bottom back into Mathias's groin, and shifted back and forth on the balls of her feet, enjoying the feel of him against her. Reaching back with her 'claws' she took his hands and wrapped his arms around in front of her, as she joined his cheer.

"Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!"

And then she dissolved into a giggle, as she leaned back, tilted her head and kissed his jaw.
Mathias 19 years ago
Oh she was a tease...thought Mathias as Shay continued her torment of him. Nuzzling her neck,he pressed tight against her. "Wait till we get home, you will roar my dear kitty." He accentuated his whispered remarks with a playful tug on Shay's earlobe.

A very self satisfied Mathias snuggled Shay, listening to the music and just watching the party
Jan 19 years ago
It would seem the party was swinging quite well in here. Jan sipped his wine and watched people dance.

He grinned at Connie's answer and replied.

"This is true. It appears that being stupid is a good defense in courts these days and a burglar is just as likely to sue for damages and win as the person who's house was robbed. So I can see where having something dangerous for drunken party goers might be a bad idea."

Made Jan think he was in that line of work in the wrong century. It was a far easier thing to do in this one and the consequences didn't include time in the stocks or losing your hand.

"Perhaps if the plank where only several feet off the ground they'd be alright. Looks like most everyone is taking the Captain's orders to heart at the moment so there doesn't look to be any trouble brewin."

He thought it wise for him to stay here and hold the bar down lest it decide to get up. Which was in truth a very thin excuse for going no where near the dance floor. At the moment Jan had someone to talk to though and that was a far better excuse to keep him standing there.

"So are you an artist also?"

((OOC: Sorry there be trick or treaters here and such for a good while ))
