Personal Questions

1. Describe your character's personality Supremely twisted and sarcastic. Curious. Can be kind and generous.
2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.) Generally dresses in a mixture of rock couture and voodoo queen. She gives the impression of being cool and mildly aloof, giving off an air that is somewhere between ethereal and eerie. Phoenyx tends to appear as if she is amused by some secrect that she isn't sharing.

~ Shape-shifting (black panther): Though rare, panther's can be found in regions of the United Stated such as South Florida. Several attempts have been made to transplant a few of these panthers into similar regions to spread the population. The black panther is especially surounded by mysticism in its connection with black magic. Voodoo, both by lack of understanding and malicious intent, has been associated with black magic. The panther to some degree has become a symbol of mistaken assumption to Sabine. The black panther is also a powerful symbol in some Native American cultures. This makes the animal a part of the heritage that Sabine both loves and hates. Sabine often feels out of place, misunderstood, and misrepresented. This causes her to relate the most to the transplanted panther.
~ Ethereal: Sabine's emotions are as mixed as her heritage. She both loves and hates her creole blood. She both loves and hates being a celebrity and performing. The ethereal ability appeals to both sides of her. It can be showy for the part of her that loves to perform and make an entrance. It also provides the ability to drift away, which is something she sometimes wishes she could do.

6. What are your fears? Losing everything. Losing her voice. Being forced to conform to other's expectations. Everything becoming unorganized and her losing control of it.
7. What is your character's strengths and weaknesses? Sabine is a very quick and inventive thinker when in a tight spot. She is kind and gentle when she doesn't feel comprmised. Typically a smart ass, especially when uncomfortable. She does not forgive very easily. She is strongly attached to what had been her mother's lounge, so much so that she fears losing it again or it being a failure. This causes her to be almost obsessive about rechecking the books and the market.

Hobbies & Skills Singing, playing piano, playing the guitar, reading history books, painting. Fluent in English and French. She was surprised to find she has a knack for running a business.

Personal History (Please be detailed, this creates your basis for your character)

Emmanuelle Rousseau was a talented music student in Paris. For her final term, she went to New Orleans with an exchange program. It is here that she was introduced to Blues, Jazz, and a young creole man named Sebastian.

After she graduated, Emmanuelle was able to obtain a work visa through a local lounge that employed her as a singer. With the money from her tips and wages, Emmanuelle was able to suport herself and Sebastian. the couple lived in this manner for a couple of years, which is when Emmanuelle became pregnant. Sebastian left just before Sabine was born, leaving mother and daughter alone to fend for themselves. to everyone's surprise, the two of them managed quite well for several years. Sabine even showed signs of musical talent at an early age, which made her mother very proud.

When Sabine was 15, her mother was approached by a man named Clement Boudreaux. He asked Emmanuelle to join him in the creation of a new lounge club. Boudreaux promised her a new life and a legacy that she could leave Sabine. When the agreement and arrangementa had been made, Sabine and her mother moved to a city called Nachton.

The new lounge was located at the top of a hotel that had been built in the twenties called the Wyndem-Price Hotel. With Emmanuelle's voice and exceptional people skills, the business was a moderate success. This left Sabine free to study music and find her own style.

After enrolling at the local university, she met another group of musicians and formed the band, Ashes of the Inferno. At the age of 19, her band was picked up by a major record label. She was told by that she needed an edgier name, which is how Phoenyx was born. Their first album was a hit, going gold. This in turn prompted a tour, interviews, and other appearances. In Sabines case, it also produced rumors, many revolving around her creole heritage and the common myths about voodoo. Sabine neither confirmed nor denied any of them.

Shortly after finishing work on the second album, Emmanuelle died unexpectedly, or as Sabine would say mysteriously.More surprises waited for sabine when she returned to Nachton. Boudreaux refused to acknowledge her as a partner. Natually, she took the matter to the courts. However, she lost the case because of a loophole. to further complicate matters for Sabine, the band dropped her citing bad press and lack of commitment.

Sabine was always one to believe that there was a way around any situation, all you had to do was find it. Her answer to this problem was to pool her savings and buy the Wyndem-Price hotel. Using documented history, old newspaper articles, and urban legend as her guide, she turned the hotel into an occult attraction called 'The Haunted'.

Patrons had to make their way through the hotel to reach the lounge. This was not always an easy task as the elevators did not always go to the expected floor, forcing occupants to walk to and up the stairwell. In addition, the older patron had to mingle with the new fans of the hotel. While Sabine does not believe in ghosts, goblins, and vampires, she is grateful to those enjoy such things for helping her get her revenge. Slowly, business at the lounge dwindled while profits for The Haunted were on the rise. To help cover the initial start-up costs, Sabine recorded her first album "From the Ashes." It was extremely successful winning a grammy.

Where is she now? Boudreaux was forced out of business and Sabine was able to take over the lounge. She has turned it into a themed club that hosts a variety of bands. She is also in the process of settling a court case with her former band members who took issue with the title of her album. Her second solo album is expected to be released within the next year.
