Rebuilding the Network-First Hit (Private-Alec/Invite Only)
She moved quietly along the roof top using the shadows as cover. She brushed a black clad knee against a ventilation exhaust and automatically reached down to swipe at the cloth of her cargo pants. She didn't normally wear cargo pants when skulking about at night, but she needed far more tools than normal.
Earlier that evening she had spent several hours with Alec fine tuning their plan for this hit. That took her thoughts to the preceding morning and their inability to finish a movie together. She bit back a chuckle and continued around to the outside perimeter of the building's roof until she heard a soft crackle in her ear piece.
"Sparrow to Eagle, come in."
Ginnie suppressed her smile. She had insisted on code names and language but being called eagle always made her giggle even though she always used it. "This is Eagle, over." She whispered, letting her molar mic pick up on it's own.
"The hangar is open and sleeping beauty awaits." That seemed a bit like mixing metaphors, but they'd agree to call the dogs sleeping beauty when they were no longer a threat.
Alec's job was to disable the power, alarms and dogs, so that she could slip into one of the warehouse windows. She put herself in position, and whispered. "Roger, that."
She lower herself over the edge of the roof, face first until she was even with the window and gave it a gentle shove, lucky for her it was unlocked and slid silently in at a forty-five degree angle. Using the pane and wall as leverage she lowered the rest of her body. After hanging briefly from the window sill crawled her legs up, and through the window, followed by the rest of her body so that she landed silently in a crouch, facing the room.
"I'm in."
"Roger, that." Came the soft reply in her ear.
She pulled a small pen light from one of the pockets and went to the closest crate. Her eidetic brain recorded the contents of each and every crate she inspected. Ocaisionally she would stuff the pen light into the loop of her kevlar vest, in order to use both hands
One area of the warehouse contained dozens of black gun chests with her personal markings on them. She swore silently and went over to them. Her manifests had been missing forty-two cases filled with everything from 9mm glocks to semi-automatic rifles. A few of these cases contained enough high power explosives to take out five city blocks a piece. If this place went up Nachton would loose half of the industrial district easy. 'Morons, probably don't have a fucking clue.' She sighed softly and took careful inventory of her property.
After nearly two hours inside she finished her circuit of the warehouse and moved briefly into the office and dropped a green plastic clover, like you would find in St. Patrick's day table confetti, on the center of the desk she found there. Her calling card would do two things for her. First it would remind them that she did indeed watch them, and two it would tell them that their security sucks and she will be very angry should they loose her property to their own stupidity.
'Heading out."
She whispered as she made her way back to the window she'd come in through. A light jump and she had hold of the sill. She hoisted herself up until she could reach the outside wall, and using it as a brace, turned over and pulled herself up to sit on the sill. She stuck a hand in her thigh pocket and pulled out a small grappling hook attached to a length of thin black rope. She spun the hook over her head and tossed it up to the roof, then tugging quickly, the hook moved back across the roof's surface to catch on the lip of the building. She gave it an almighty tug to be sure she wouldn't find herself on her ass, then let the rope go down behind her and pulled herself the rest of the way out of the window using the rope. With a bit of a clumsy start she scaled the wall and rolled over onto the roof top.
She lay panting for a moment. The smile on her face was all but impossible to crush even though she knew they still had to get everything turned back on and away unseen. She'd have to ask Alec how he had kept the guards and dogs busy for nearly two hours.
Standing she made her way back to where Alec waited for her. She sighed, Alec waited for her, just her.
In his business, it was always abundantly clear how rarely mammals looked up. Perhaps off in the distance, a skyline, a stormfront...but directly above was always taken for granted by cave-dwellers as a safe place. His job would be much more interesting once humanity evolved to that level...until then, though, he'd continue to assist them in their development. Jumping lightly from his hiding place among the tower to the line, he grasped it firmly. There was still some residual charge, so touching a grounding outlet and the line even when powered down would not be wise. Pulling his legs up onto the wire, he secured his rubber roll clamp with its extending secondary line. Wheeling himself out along the line, his grey form blending with the greyish night sky, Alec was completely invisible and silent. Stopping directly over the transformer supplying the building, he carefully applied a very, very effective corrosive that would eat through the main and peripheral lines, cutting the power. Sadly, this particular location did not have an independent power supply for their security...when all went dark, they were blind as well, and the alarm wouldn't trigger until power was restored, if at all.
Wheeling back away, he knew the clock was ticking. At the shortest, in about 45 seconds the first sparks would fly, but that was plenty of time to get to where he was headed. He quickly disengaged his clamp, secured it away, and swung himself freely onto the tension tower. Rapidly climbing down, he dropped the last few feet and belly crawled to his hiding place. Looking out at the guards, he found his mark, walking in the correct direction. Timing it perfectly, he flicked a tiny glass vial toward the back of the passing guard's leg...it landed just under his foot as he was stepping down. The dog at his side growled at the motion, and then began barking and biting at the man's boot before trying to hump his leg. Continuing around back, he disconnected the leads on the generator that would have supplied the building with power after the primary power failure.
Hearing the confused shouts of the poor men who had brought their dogs with them to investigate and the laughter of those men not patrolling with dogs, Alec heard the sound he'd been waiting for. A high pitched electrical whine, indicating that the power would soon be gone - fifteen seconds median. As the power flickered once, Alec spoke, retreating over the perimeter.
Sparrow to Eagle, come in.
This is Eagle, over.
Pausing a moment, the power cut out, the dogs continued their rampage and the generator failed to activate.
The hangar is open and Sleeping Beauty awaits.
After an impressively brief pause, he heard her reply.
I'm in.
Roger that.
Having unleashed quite a lot of havoc on the location, Alec spread out his senses to see what was going on. It sounded like one individual was trying to give orders to the others not involved in trying to get the maddened dogs under control. Lassie really was a dirty trick...but it was so much fun. Given what Ginnie needed to accomplish, Alec was confident that they wouldn't be able to even get their search perimeter secured. Poor juicebags really were outclassed.
Having completed phase one, he now just had to keep them distracted for awhile. As the guards not involved with the suppression of the dogs fanned out, he moved to his next plan. He had arranged for a digital reroute of other people's funds totalling $50,000 to a disgruntled ex-City employee who still had access to the city pound and was receptive to bribery for one night's work. Right on time, the Animal Control freight van backed up to the loading dock. Alec took out his night camera and began taking video as a couple of guards ran over, only to be greeted by the opening of the back door of the van, which had been set up in three internal layers, disgorged every stray or impounded dog in the greater Nachton area. He hoped Ginnie would let him sell this on the Internet through ghost companies - he would make a mint. If not, it would grace the shelves of their Home Theater for sure. Radioing in, he said
You'll have hated to have missed this, so I am rolling some video for you. I'll try to get some closer shots. I'm pretty sure they have forgotten about the building altogether.
Tossing a few more vials of pheromone into the fray, he chuckled quietly as the Nachton Dog Orgy of 2006 erupted in the Industrial district.
As time passed, a couple of new individuals arrived. Most likely people that were phoned in for assistance. Skirting the perimeter, Alec waited for them by the main gate. He hoped that they weren't too important...just off-duty thugs. Judging from the vehicles, that was most likely the case - they weren't rolling in the kind of style one would expect from an upper tier boss. As they discussed the situation, they both began laughing. As one circled around the vehicle to the trunk, the other continued to watch the scene unfold. Striding up quickly and silently behind the trunkman, Alec tazered him at the base of his skull, dropping him in place. Looking into the trunk, he saw that they had been planning to gun down his dog army...how rude. Taking out an assault rifle that Alec couldn't have identified, he casually strolled up behind the other guard. Getting close, the man began to turn and was greeted with a very potent slap from the base of the rifle.
Tying their hands with rubber tubing, Alec relieved them of their funds and placed a call to the local City Works dispatch letting them know, in a much deeper voice, that their building transformer was faulty, but that there was no rush and the morning crew could take care of it. After being thanked for his understanding, they promised to have a crew out at 8am.
Sneaking back over the perimeter, Alec decided to check in on Ginnie. With the continuing chaos, he entered the building from the main door, sealing them all from within and disabling the tumblers, should anyone have keys. Sliding nigh-invisibly and silently through the dark environment, he soon found his lover hard at work. Smiling, he left her to her task and stalked to her entry point. Swiveling out, he free climbed the steel siding to the roof to watch everything resolve.
Time for phase three...the part he didn't like. He headed back to the car of the pair that had come late to the show. Poor off duty fools. As he approached, he noticed the one he'd knocked out earlier had regained consciousness and was working on his tubing. A well placed kick to the face fixed that problem. Moving both men to the side, he placed an incendiary device built by Ginnie on the side of the vehicle over the gas tank. Waiting in the car, he got his signal
Heading out.
Shifting the car into drive, he steered it toward the parking area, put it in neutral and hopped out. Waiting for the sound of collision, he activated the device, blowing the vehicle.
The only point of irritation for him was that some of the dogs were likely killed. He also didn't envy the first guard that had started the doggie chaos, but that was backseat.
Alec quickly returned into the perimeter - many of the dogs and all of the conscious personnel were paying attention elsewhere. Re-engaging the tumblers, Alec headed out the back, repaired the sabotage on the generator, which propmptly roared into life, and slipped away to the rendez vous.
En route to the rendez vous, Alec radioed
Eagle, this is Sparrow. The castle is locked and beauty is awake. Over and out.
Taking off his work rigs, he stowed them and went into hiding, looking all the world for an innocent passer-by in climbing shoes.. After a short wait, he heard Ginnie heading in. Circling behind her, he watched as she began removing her gear. Beautiful, efficient...it was difficult to just watch her from afar. Before she had an opportunity to stow it and see that he'd already arrived, Alec stepped silently out of the darkness, asking quietly
Are we still working, or would you like some help with that?
Smiling a bit as she shrugged out of her armor vest, Ginnie replied "Business until we're cleared of the scene, slick."
Looking a bit disappointedly at his feet, he stated
All right. Well...let's get this van back to the pool and we'll figure out where to go from there?
Driving conservatively and via a very indirect route to check for any potential tails, Alec returned them to the Domicile while Ginnie read over her notes in the back of the van and secured her gear.
((OOC: Alec and Ginnie out, lock please!))
