Moving day...er night. (open)

The little craftsman cottage had been divided up into two apartments. The one on the right side of the building was the apartment Fallon had rented. The one on the left side was already occupied by some man who worked days, and slept early. The landlord hadn't given her much more information than that, but she appreciated his discretion. It wouldn't do for the tenants to have to worry about their privacy being invaded by anyone who happened to strike up a conversation with the landlord.

Though the apartment was small, it was plenty big enough for Fallon's needs. One tiny bedroom, a small living room/dining are combination, a very wee kitchen, and a nice size bathroom. The landlord said Fallon's unit got the original bathroom, and that was why it was larger than someone would have expected. The next door unit got the larger kitchen, for the same reason. Fallon didn't care either way...this was the first place she had lived in alone, and she was going to fix it up and just enjoy what she had.

The doors to the units were side by side, and off a large front porch. A large picture window from each unit looked out onto the porch, and down onto the front yard, and sidewalk, before viewing the street. The street itself was very quiet, mainly because it dead ended just two doors down. It suited Fallon perfectly, and she was thrilled to have come across it.

Moving in was easy. She just had her little bit of luggage to unpack, and that was it. It came fully furnished, including kitchen ware, and linens, but she was already contemplating the things she would be replacing, and adding with her first few paychecks...providing she got the job she was going to apply for. Otherwise...well, she just couldn't afford to think on 'otherwise' just yet.

Making up the bed, she could tell the linens were clean...they smelled fresh washed, and had no evidence of stains. They were quite worn however, and she doubted they would survive many more washings. Clothes put away in the dresser and closet, everything was pretty much set for her first days rest.

Walking through the apartment, she couldn't help but smile. In the kitchen she ran a finger along the counter tops, and could see they had been very recently cleaned as well. The fact that the kitchen was added when the house was divided up, meant her kitchen, though tiny, had all the modern appliances. They were all tiny...to scale for the small room, but a dishwasher...built in microwave...and tile counters all seemed such an extravagance. She had no doubt she would enjoy using them.

The bath, on the other hand, had an older style toilet, and tub, with just an updated sink. The style of the sink kept with the style of the toilet and tub, but Fallon could see by the fixtures it was new. And even having older appliances there wasn't bad, because they were all in pristine shape. A shower curtain was one thing she would need to buy quickly...baths were for luxury time...showers were for bathing and getting ready for the day...er night.

Still a bit keyed up, Fallon threw on her coat and moved to the porch to sit. The sun would be coming up soon, and she was getting a little sleepy, but she just had to sit and enjoy the quiet, as she contemplated the activities she had experienced over the past few days.

Seeing the color of the sky change from midnight blue to a lighter shade, she sighed, and went inside, closing all the blinds. It took her no time at all to get ready for bed, and when the sun's rays broke the horizon outside, Fallon's eyes closed.

The phones connection went dead once again in his ear.

He shook his head with a small smile. The cab driver had pulled along the side of the express way and gave Panos a funny look.

This will be fine. I thank you again. With lightening fast speed Panos reached forward with his free arm and quickly snapped the drivers neck.

He abadoned the cabs back seat and put the phone in his pocket. The sun was beginning to rise as he set off in a hurry to his home.

Fallon had said she was tired. She did not know tired as he did. It was odd but lately he seemed even more tired than ever. Maybe it was the turning of her that made him feel this way. Maybe the years were finally catching up. Whatever it was it left him feeling a sense of nothingness. He was merely exsisting, she was right.

How ironic.

She awoke. The alarm hadn't gone off, but when she turned to the clock she saw it would, in about five minutes. Wasn't that always the way?

She had a slight headache, which she attributed to the conversation with Panos. She wasn't completely satisfied in how things had gone, but knew she had to get used to the idea. Panos was NOT good news, and continuing to worry over him would be courting disaster.

Besides...she had no need of him any longer. Cyrus would show her all she needed. And there was Aishe as well. She smiled to think of both her new friends, and what a luxury it was to not only have met them, but to be able to continue their friendship.

Once she had dressed, and straightened up the house, she was ready for work. She had two phone calls to make before hand. First, she had to call Cyrus, and let him know Panos was back in town. From now on, between the two of them, Cyrus was her only concern. Then she would call Aishe, and hope because they had just met, the other girl didn't think Fallon was desperate for friendship. She was, but she didn't need to look as needy as she felt.

Pushing the speed dial for Cyrus, she waited to see if he would answer, or if she would get his voicemail.

"Cyrus? It's me, Fallon."

Cyrus was in his large shower at the manor when his cell phone vibrated around the counter top. After a quick rinse to verify all the soap and dirt had been washed away he mentally pulled the towel and phone to himself. Drying his hands he then flipped open the thin phone. "Hello?"

The water turned off and the glass door closed behind him as he walked from the shower to the rug as he dried off. Listening to Fallon announce herself made him smile. "Good evening Fallon. Sleep well in your new home?"

There was a lot of stuff to do in the short time that she would be working this evening. He had to feed, arrange for a piano to be delivered to Fallon, schedule a meeting with Mai and start his hunt for Panos. A mongol's work was never done apparently. Though he had come to the decision that he liked caring for a fledgling better than hanging out at the House of Pain gorging himself.

Visibly relieved to hear his voice, she didn't realize it probably was heard in her tone.

"Oh good, I'm glad I caught you. And yes, I did sleep quite well, thank you...well, after being woken up by a call from Panos. Cyrus...I told him you were looking for him. I'm not sure why, exactly...and now regret it, but that's neither here nor there really. My concern now is for you.

Cyrus...he's mad. I don't mean angry...the man is without soul...without feeling...it scares me to think of him out there, possibly looking for you. Please, whatever you do...be monstrously cautious. If anything were to happen to you..."

The thought was too awful to contemplate further.

"I won't presume to tell you what to do, but going after him won't change things for me. If you still feel the need, then of course I will support you...though I won't like it much."

He was a man, and in her life Fallon had come to recognize men made decisions, right or wrong, and rarely took her input for more than an annoying interruption. So far Cyrus had yet to reproach her in that manner, so she would continue to offer what little she could voice.

"I would like to invite you to dinner, tomorrow night, if you have no other plans? I would like to see how work goes to night, before attempting to play hostess. But I really feel the need to show you my appreciation, for all you've done for me."

It wouldn't be much, but she was a good cook, and it would make her feel a little better welcoming him into her home.

Naked he padded to the mahogany amoire that opened as he approached it. He really did not know how people existed without telekinetics. He listened to Fallon as he randomly picked out what to wear, knowing he would need to change again before meeting Mai. Thankfully Fallon told him all about the late night call. It reassured him that she harbored no love or loyalty towards her creator. Though her next comment had him rolling his eyes.

"Of course he is mad. Tach kicked him out, he would have to be beyond psychotic to be booted from that bunch of misfits and losers."

Silk boxers in black and soft leather pants were put on easily as the phone hovered by his ear. Her concern for him was touching but he always found it better to elliminate known threats before they made the transition from passive to aggressive. Besides, he ate clanless vampires for snacks. "I am an ancient mongol. He doesnt worry me too much. I do not like the looming threat over you to be left unchecked. Should I track him down I dont mind warning him out of Nachton if you so desire. No matter what, I would be excessively careful."

Smiling at her invitation he accepted them with a reminder. "I would be honored to come for dinner. Though tonight I need to introduce you to Mai. So please let me know what time you will be available to come to the Manor."

Deciding on a black silk tee shirt and a dark blood red button down shirt, he laid them on the bed to put on once his hair was dry.

"Yes, well, I am a fool for thinking there might have been something redeeming in the man, Cyrus. I know that now. I...well...he didn't let me die."

The one thing about Panos that would forever remain in her mind. She was still walking the earth, and at long last was even enjoying life...did she still call it that?

"I also tend to forget you are so experienced in the ways of the world...when I see you, and you appear in your human state, it's hard to think of you being able to turn to your cat self, much less the fact that you are hundreds of years old.

I will leave the matter entirely in your hands...I do trust you, Cyrus."

And he was probably the only person in the world she had ever said those words to.

Thinking she was to meet the head of the Anantya clan later, made her nervous. She could already feel the knots forming in her stomach. What if she wasn't accepted into Anantya...what if the fact that she was created by Panos worked against her like that. And if she was accepted, would they require something of her...and would she be able to provide it?

"I am off work at 1am...will that allow time? I...well, it's my first night so I don't know that they would look too kindly on me wanting time off already."

Being a part of a clan was a matter of survival in Nachton, she understood that now. However, having a job, and money was as well. She was torn between priorities...which added to her nervousness.

Cyrus chuckled at Fallon's comment about his age. "I stopped counting myself after a thousand."

The time frame did not bother him. Though he wished she did not have to even worry about working but she seemed like the independant type that would not willingly live off himself or the clan. Both good and bad in that.

"After 1 will be fine I am sure. I will come pick you up then."

He wanted to say more but he was unsure if his reassurances would be welcome or not so he kept his parting comments brief. "Enjoy work. I will be waiting for you once your done. Dont worry about meeting the clan, I am sure they will like you."
Fallon 18 years ago
She enjoyed his laugh...she got the impression he didn't let himself often.

"I will be waiting."

She wondered if she should dress up...and what would be considered 'dressed up'. Formal attire didn't seem appropriate, so she guessed she would just dress as if attending a nice dinner out. First impressions were very important, and this one more so...her future in Nachton was riding on it.

Her next thought was that of feeding. She wondered if she would have time during her break tonight, to find her meal...or if she would need to wait until after the meeting at Anantya. So many decisions.

His parting words were thoughtful, and Fallon again appreciated how this man had stepped into her life, to help her survive.

"Thank you Cyrus. I hope you have a nice evening as well. I'll try not to worry, but I would only expect me to be so successful."

And she laughed at that. She knew her weaknesses, and was TRYING to overcome them...but it would no doubt take more time.

"See you later then."

Clicking the phone off, Fallon dropped it into her bag, and set off for her first day of work...er...night.

(Fallon out pending any final words from Cyrus.)

He hoped she did not worry too much but had no further words of wisdom. "See you later."

Finishing to dress he left the manor on foot, or rather paw, in search of food.
