Fashionably Late
Tai surreptitously checked his watch, carefully shrugging back the sleeve of his coat in a well-practiced motion. What was it about women that compelled them to be late, and why was he not in the least surprised that Yuu in particular was no exception to that rule?
Not that it mattered; Tai himself wasn't opposed to arriving at the charity ball late. He'd spent the last couple of days studying - floor plans, scheduled events, meetings, anywhere his target was intended to be. This ball would be one of them. He certainly didn't intend to act in such a public setting but it would be an excellent opportunity to simply observe.
And to observe with an attractive, intelligent companion. His eyes narrowed naturally as he smiled. A very active companion.
Thought split in two directions, he contently let his mind wander over both as he stood in the lobby of the Piazza, small white box in one hand.
Dragging behind her was a white fur wrap that she hadn't exactly planned on wearing, but just dragging it along behind her. Sometimes her snobbery disgusted even her, although it did make her smile sometimes.
Tai was standing in the lobby of the hotel waiting for her. As she approached her date, she gave him a wink and a smile.
'Why hello there, sailor. Am I late? Tsk tsk.'
"Sailor?" He looked down his nose at the cut of his tux. "What would Signor Armani say if he heard you?"
Then, "No, don't answer that. If he were to hear you, it would only be because you intended him to."
This wouldn't do. She distracted him, with her alluring, smug expression, her careless attitude. He had a job to do. Perhaps not tonight, but he was here for work and only work. After that, he could waver.
Nonetheless he gently spun her around, so her back was to him. Tai was satisfied to see he'd guessed correctly in that she'd have some part of her hair worn up; the top and sides had been swept away from her face and met at the back of her head to cascade down in layers.
He removed his token from its box; a chain of orchids carefully wired onto a series of slender hairpins, and carefully tucked them into her upswept hair, following the curve of her reddish locks. The end of the orchid chain just barely came over her shoulder, glowing against her golden skin.
Spinning her back around, he offered her his hand. "I believe we've kept the upper crust waiting long enough. Shall we?"

'Tai...orchids!' Mentally she counted his brownie points for the evening. Already off to a magnificent start. He pulled her along to their waiting limo and she purred, 'Aye, Captain.'
((OOC - out and to the ball!))
