Perfectly innocent

Thaddeus landed neatly in the alleyway just behind the apartment and took a careful look around, absently preening a feather while listening for any sign of life. Satisfied that he didn't have company, he shifted back to his human form, closing his eyes and focusing until everything felt right again. After looking around once more, he walked back onto the street, around to the front entrance of the apartment building, and headed up to their floor.

Palmer was safely back at the Grand Piazza and Thaddeus was nearly home. While perhaps their conversation had not been as productive as it should have been it was good to simply reacquaint themselves. He reflected that they should visit each other more often as he unlocked the apartment door.

Skodde was there to greet him, though once the wolf discovered it was merely Thaddeus he wandered off again. Thaddeus didn't particularly mind Skodde's indifference, though he would admit to being curious about how the wolf would respond to an intruder. He thought wolves were fairly intelligent but he wasn't sure if their pet could tell the difference between a malicious visitor and an acceptable house guest, having been around people so long.

He imagined Alfarinn would be along shortly and thought to get the apartment orderly before his lover got there; a few less reminders of the chaotic twists and turns of their lives would, he thought, be a comfort. Neither of them were all that messy and, after washing his hands in the kitchen sink, it didn't take long to set the apartment to rights. Once things looked acceptable he returned to the kitchen sink and carefully removed his cuff links and the button cover from his tux, cleaning the soot off of each with a soft cloth. The turtle and the ring had remained safely tucked under his shirt and he was pleased to note that even the red cord didn't appear worse for wear when he took it off. The ring he wore on his thumb was likewise well protected by the sable gloves that now rested inside his jacket pocket.

With that done, he headed for their bathroom and undressed, putting the now sooty clothing in the hamper to take to the laundry service the following evening. That done, he turned on the shower and waited for it to heat up, suddenly amused by his own rather domestic behavior. For someone who had grown up with a staff of housekeepers and cooks and all manner of services, he thought he had adjusted fairly well to life in an apartment with none of those things.

Well. The laundry room on the main floor had been a little baffling. And the dishwasher was a bit...curious. The former he'd decided was just over his head, hence the laundry service. He was certain that was what normal people did in any case; perhaps the people who ventured to use the suspicious self serve machines found it interesting in some way. The latter was simple enough, though only very infrequently used.

Realizing the bathroom was filling with steam while he was wool gathering, he adjusted the temperature and stepped under the spray, sighing in contentment at the blast of heat. Leaning his head forward, he let the water pound on the back of his neck and shoulders and closed his eyes.

Then he opened them again when he realized that Alfarinn would be home any minute and here he was fussing about with the apartment and lingering in the shower. Feeling that uncomfortable suspicion that he was being rather dense, he grabbed the shampoo and set to cleaning himself.

This newly focused effort to get on with cleaning likely did not result in any shorter of a shower than was normal for Thaddeus, but nonetheless he was out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist in short order, standing in the closet and trying to pick out something to put on when their earlier conversation regarding clothing came to mind.

No chaps. No spandex. Hmm.

Turning to the box of accessories Alfarinn had brought over the first night they visited the house of pain, Thaddeus just as quickly turned away again, biting his lower lip. It seemed terribly presumptuous to dress so...expectantly.

Well...hell, he -was- presumptuous. Being presumptuous had a way of making things happen that likely wouldn't otherwise. But there was a time and place for such behavior and lounging about naked save a collar, some wrist bands and a smile might just be walking the line.

On the other hand.

Thaddeus gave an evil little smirk and fished out a pair of wristbands in a supple black leather with four silver buckles on each and sat down on the edge of the bed, neatly buckling them in place with a little help from his teeth. The matching collar, in black leather with a single oversized buckle, he took into the bathroom to put on with the help of a mirror.

Smiling in an admittedly foolish way at his own sly cunning, he then returned to the closet for a shirt that mostly covered the collar and completely covered the wrist bands. With the high necked shirt and a pair of grey slacks in place, he nodded firmly into the mirror and padded out in bare feet to the living room.

Deciding it would likely be good to find a way to occupy his time, he selected one of the books he had brought over from his quarters in Anantya and sat down on the couch, stretching his legs over the cushions and quickly becoming engaged in The History of Mysticism in Anantya.

Alfarinn continued to let his hands roam where they wished, which seemed to be everywhere on Thaddeus. He realized that this portion of his lover was more neglected than the top portion and that suddenly became a total injustice in his mind. These were a fine pair of legs! How dare he not give them the proper respect and attention they deserved! He did feel that in his defense there was no part of Thaddeus that was not divine and with them being so busy lately it was difficult to give his companion's body the full day's worth of true adoration that it should be given.

Thaddeus's hands were trailing their own paths along his legs and he found himself pausing his movements in order to better feel the delicate touches that slid higher and higher up his leg.

As Alfarinn scooted further down beneath his companion, enjoying for a moment being covered by Thaddeus in this way, his lover commented and then trailed off, leaving him to wonder just what was going to be said next.

Finishing the slid of his hands beneath his lover, Alfarinn would have asked with a mischievous grin but instead and found himself caught up in his lover's response. The sound of Thaddeus's voice in that exclamation caused a strong thrill of desire to course through him like wildfire. It was something amazing to know that he had caused that response with his actions and that the feelings his lover felt were directed towards him. It was humbling, inspiring and so incredibly sexy all at once.

Tilting his head back, he kissed the flesh that passed by as Thaddeus moved down to give him a 'closer look'. All movement on his part stopped when Thaddeus made a discovery of his own. Alfarinn closed his eyes with a sigh of pleasure as he felt his lover slide teasingly down his length.

His own voice was more breathless than usual as he responded to the statement.

"A treasure beyond compare...I have no doubt."Â?

Save for the one above him. Alfarinn let his hands glide lightly along the outside of Thaddeus's thighs and then further up before wrapping his arms around his lover's waist. He placed his lips at the tip of Thaddeus's erection and pulled himself up with his arms, sliding as far upwards and taking in as much of his lover as he could. Slowly dragging his mouth back down, he lay back against the bed with a sigh.

"Mmm, I love this blanket."Â?
Thaddeus Grey 18 years ago
Thaddeus gave the hollow of one hip a light nuzzle, smiling affectionately in response to Alfarinn’s apt description of his ‘treasure’ and turning his head slightly to raise one eyebrow in his lover’s direction.

“Indeed.”

Grinning down at his special discovery, he shifted his weight slightly to reach up one hand, his left of course, and lightly stroke the firmness in front of him, all traces of self consciousness evaporating as he explored the truly delightful opportunity presented. He gave a pleasant little quiver when he felt Alfarinn’s arms wrap around him, his legs twitching slightly in anticipation as he wondered just what his lover had in store for him.

His head tilted back and he felt rather than heard the soft whimper in the back of his own throat as Alfarinn took him into his mouth, though he did register the light hiss he made when his lover pulled back again. In between those two sounds, though, was a spike of white mindless pleasure that it took him an honest moment to recover from before he could work up a proper smirk in response to the light remark.

Barely noticing that he was, perhaps subconsciously, scooting up a little more to get closer, he lowered his head again, letting his hair fall where it would and grinning at how well and truly Alfarinn could…distract him, engage him, -have- him.

“A blanket, and oh so much more.”

Believing he ought to prove his multipurpose nature lest he be accused of making unfounded claims, he grinned a little before returning Alfarinn’s gesture with his own, lowering his head to capture his lover’s erection between his lips and sliding down, his entire body giving a light shiver of satisfaction. Pulling almost, but not quite all the way up, he played his tongue along the tip before driving back down, going a touch deeper than before, damp lips marking new skin like previously uncharted territory. His arm snaked under both legs, bending at the elbow to support some portion of his weight while still serving as acceptable prevention against escapes, among other things, and this time he pulled all the way back, delivering a slow lick all the way to the base before speaking.

“An excellent treasure finder as well.”

Continuing the trail down, he shifted slightly forward and swept his tongue generously over two more delightful ‘treasures’ before taking one into his mouth completely and giving a gentle, somewhat tentative, suck.

Alfarinn found that he enjoyed the feeling of Thaddeus moving above him. It was different and intimate in a way; his lover did cover him and though it would be difficult for his lover fully protect him from exposure, Thaddeus still managed to make him feel loved and secure. He savored being able to look up and seeing nothing but his Beloved like an intimate sky, a heaven made of flesh...

Smirking at the thought, Alfarinn was fairly certain that he would offend some of the newer religions and maybe even one or two older ones with that line of thinking. He grinned in return to the raised eyebrow he received and ran his fingertips up along the inside of one of his lover's thighs. Thaddeus was his heaven and he would make no apologies for that belief.

Lips encompassed him and he sighed in dreamy ecstasy, feeling his lover's warm touch sliding teasingly along him. He decided heaven could be a mindless place and was not at all displeased with that fact.

Feeling the last slow lick of his lover's tongue, He wondered if he could convince Thaddeus that this was a necessary daily meditation of sorts. Alfarinn struggled to hold still under his companion's ministrations as Thaddeus found new treasures to play with. He reached up and once more wrapped his arms around Thaddeus's hips. Suddenly finding himself encompassed in a whole new sense, Alfarinn reacted without thinking, arching his back and clinging tightly to his lover, his eyes closed and his breath indrawn in a gasp of soundless pleasure. Leaning his face against Thaddeus, he slowly let out the withheld air in a slow shaky sigh, still dizzy with euphoria.

[...and a priceless treasure]

Slowly pulling away from his hiding place, he pressed his lips against the same delicate skin of his lover. Taking a moment to explore its pliant surface with his tongue and mouth, Alfarinn then moved closer and gave his lover an interrogative hum.
Thaddeus Grey 18 years ago
Thaddeus wondered briefly if Alfarinn was aware of the effect the light breath against his skin had on him and concluded his lover must know, and was attempting to tease him straight into oblivion. He reflected, as goose bumps broke over his skin, that two could certainly play at that game, particularly from this angle, and gave a pleased shiver when Alfarinn’s arms wrapped around his hips.

There was something wonderfully exciting about getting a surprisingly strong reaction to something –he- had done. It sent a thrill through him as he tightened his grip, feeling firm muscles tense underneath him, relishing that absolutely pure moment of enjoyment. Just the idea of Alfarinn twisting and arching and feeling those hard muscles again was impossibly alluring. He shifted his weight a little and wrapped his arm tightly around one thigh, releasing the other so Alfarinn was a little more free to move about.

And move about Alfarinn did, to Thaddeus’s enjoyment, eliciting pleasured shivers up his spine as he pulled back slightly to map out his now quite obviously claimed treasure with his tongue. His eyes flickered closed in contentment and he quite involuntarily met his lover’s delightful vibrations with a low moan of appreciation, thinking that between feeling each other’s pleasure through the bond and being in the ideal situation to provide a more practical demonstration of how exactly wonderful each other’s movements and light plays of tongue and lips felt, they were in for just about as much enjoyment as they could handle. Possibly more, though he supposed that concept might be akin to an upward moving ceiling.

[Hmm, a priceless treasure? Oh do go on, this present does so long to be both useful –and- decorative.]

Grinning, he replaced his mouth with one hand, cupping Alfarinn gently and stroking with just his thumb while sliding back up to play his lips and tongue along his lover’s erection. The supple leather of his wristbands rubbed against one hip and he paused for what he hoped was a reasonably short amount of time to adjust the strap with his teeth, moving the buckles to the top where they wouldn’t cause discomfort, before returning to the gradually intensifying ministrations.
Alfarinn 18 years ago
Alfarinn murmured a sound of approval at the moan that Thaddeus uttered, feeling a thrill of desire at his lover's pleasure. He moved his lips lightly across the 'treasures' that he had discovered, enjoying the uncommon position that allowed them to rest gently against him. Running his tongue in long lines and short licks he took a moment to revel in that delicate weight.

[Hmm, oh you are most definitely useful. Both relaxing and...-stimulating- at the same time. ]

In the brief absence of his lover's mouth moving against him, driving all other thoughts away, Alfarinn noticed the little things that added and aided Thaddeus's deft movements to push him to the edge of oblivion. He could feel the light brush of soft hair against his skin, the cool leather of the wristbands against his hip and thigh and the warm grip of his lover's arms; it all came together into a moment of perfection.

One arm moved away from his leg and he gasped softly once it reached its destination. Writhing slightly under Thaddeus's attention, it took a moment for him to realize he had slowed his own touch to near stillness. Giving Thaddeus a kiss of apology, Alfarinn leaned up and took his lover's erection in his mouth covering it just below the head; he tilted from side to side, slowly twisting his lips beneath it before pushing down his companion's length. Closing his eyes and tightening his hold on Thaddeus, Alfarinn moved against his lover in firm strokes matching his Beloved's rhythm.

[And warm. I should not forget warm.]
Thaddeus Grey 18 years ago
Thaddeus found that he was having his own issues with staying still as Alfarinn’s tongue moved over him, eliciting those little noises he was hardly aware of along with flickers and trembles through his muscles. His eyelids fluttered when Alfarinn sent and he imagined he was in full agreement; stimulating indeed, and relaxing all at once.

[This might explain why we both like coffee so much...]

Mentally grinning at his lover’s movements, he gave a lazy swirl of his tongue and suppressed his sudden wave of amusement, thinking there were much more important things at hand than unusual analogies even if he was never going to think of drinking coffee in quite the same way again.

Alfarinn certainly had a wonderful way of putting his mind back on track, and Thaddeus made a noise that was half moan, half purr in the back of his throat when his lover’s lips wrapped around him. He slowed down his own movements, taking Alfarinn in slower, deeper strokes while his racing pulse and tingling nerves adjusted to this new stimulation. After a moment, though, he picked up the pace again, sliding down his lover’s length with something near fervor.

At first Alfarinn’s comment made little sense to him; it was a moment before the sounds came together as words, much less a coherent statement. That word, ‘warm’, seemed to stretch out forever, the sum total of comfort and solace and peace wrapped in that endless syllable. It was everything good, so simply put. The hand wrapped around one thigh moved up and down as though to emphasize that point.

Eventually, however, the concept registered through the bliss.

[Yes, I must not forget I’m meant to be keeping you warm…]

His own words sounded foggy and far away, just as Alfarinn’s had been, blurred in with the sensations like shades of pink bleeding into the sunset. He wasn’t in a place where that troubled him, though; as far as he was concerned, everything could just blend to black for a while. He was with Alfarinn, and that was what mattered; focusing on their bodies, his own firm motions, his lover’s falling into the same rhythm, the incredible sensations mixing together until he wasn’t entirely sure where one’s enjoyment ended and the other began.

He would, however, be the first to admit that he might be keeping some parts warmer than others. It would, he was sure, all work out.
Alfarinn 18 years ago
Alfarinn breathed in an easy lung filling breath, the kind that you made when you were totally at ease or when you wanted to fully experience the moment. It was interesting how breath seemed to be involved in fully appreciating the things around you and how it was easily forgotten. At the moment though , he remembered and he was both relaxed and wanting to fill every sense he had with the moment.

Thaddeus's sending caused him to nearly chuckle out loud, which in his current position would not very good or at least not very suave. He leaned back, coughing once on the suppressed sound before sending his reply

[Indeed. Coffee is very warm, relaxing -and- stimulating... but it does not look or feel as nice.]

He leaned back in to continue tasting his companion which was perhaps another comparison that could be made to coffee but he refused to give in to the urge say that Thaddeus was obviously not decaf and there would be proof soon enough that his companion was not 'less filling' either.

[I do like to wrap my hands around the warm mug...]

Alfarinn noted with amusement that his arms were still around Thaddeus's waist and he relaxed and then tightened his hold a moment in illustration.

[And I do enjoy the taste of it... as well as its effects.]

He smiled and smoothed his tongue along the underside of Thaddeus's erection, thoroughly tasting all of its length with just the tip before continuing his earlier attentions at a more fevered pace.

[I believe you may on to something. You are also addictive. I may have to have you more than once a day.]

Thaddeus was doing a splendid job of keeping him warm whichever analogy they cared to use and Alfarinn believed his companion was beyond compare anyway so perhaps it was pointless even to try.

[Mmm, I'm quite warm, excellent job.]

And his next fervent wish was for Thaddeus to keep trying.
Thaddeus Grey 18 years ago
Having paid for his rather inappropriate remark with a (thankfully temporary) loss of contact, Thaddeus reflected that he really ought to exert a little more control over his roaming mind, but thought better of it when his lover responded.

[I am in complete agreement; the coffee shall have to accept being bested gracefully.]

Deciding he didn’t particularly care, at this juncture, what ‘insulted coffee’ might be like, he did his best to avoid squirming happily in Alfarinn’s grasp, finding that little squeeze unbearably charming.

[Well I am, after all, meant to be savored and experien…oh…]

His cute remark was entirely abandoned when he felt that tongue sliding down, the unexpected change in stimulation thrilling him to the core. His hand tightened almost convulsively around Alfarinn’s thigh and he pushed even deeper when his lover’s pace increased, though he quickly regained enough control to match the newly established rhythm.

[Fortunately I am in never ending supply.]

Thinking that Alfarinn may put that particular statement to the test, he smiled inwardly at both that thought and his lover’s praise for providing proper warmth.

[I’d best keep going then; this seems to be working.]

It was, indeed, ‘working’ quite nicely on his end as well. He closed his eyes, giving over to other senses for a moment and making little unnoticed whimpering sounds as he came closer and closer to the edge, moving against Alfarinn in firm, greedy strokes in the hope of taking his lover right along with him.
Alfarinn 18 years ago
Alfarinn noted Thaddeus's slight movements in the background of his current focus and it made him happy to know that the affectionate gesture was enjoyed and appreciated by his companion. That his lover should be savored, he could not have agreed more and upon hearing that little oh, even mentally, he found that a thrill of pleasure went through him. There were few things more satisfying than knowing he had done something that Thaddeus delighted in but having his lover stop his train of though in order to fully appreciate it was truly rewarding.

Feeling that such little remarks should not go unappreciated, after all they did so much for him, Alfarinn renewed his efforts with more enthusiasm, which was saying a great deal because he had plenty to begin with.

Thaddeus's response was enough to make him nearly completely senseless and it was a good thing that there was a strong urge to continue pleasing his lover as his lover moved against him or else he might lose himself in sensations and slow down once more. Alfarinn found thought that as things reached a feverish pitch of need and desire that he had no troubles focusing on his efforts at increasing Thaddeus's pleasure because at this stage it all blended together into a heady mix that was steadily overwhelming them both.

Thaddeus's reply played through his head several times before the words made sense. A never ending supply. He certainly hoped not, they had an eternity together. It was sobering for a moment to think that their passion for each other might dry up some day. Would they continue on together as some comfortable couple that did not wish to go elsewhere for something new or would they want to part and seek other people with whom the passion would be fresh?

Alfarinn held Thaddeus tighter as if that would help drive away the thought and it did seem to work well enough, well truthfully Thaddeus's mouth was doing a far finer job of distracting him than anything else could. He resolved to worry about it on some sleepless night or not at all, after all with the bond between them and the way they have communicated with each other so far, he was certain they would know at the first signs of such a thing unlike many other couples who do not see the small things until they build up into a huge wall between them.

Taking the statement as it was intended he sent back

[That sounds like a challenge to me. I think we shall have to test it.]

Alfarinn found that Thaddeus's efforts were indeed working and he was about as warm inside and out as he could get. If his skin actually responded the way that it should he figured that he would be feverish by now. The culmination of this portion of Thaddeus's present was inevitable but at least his Beloved had assured him that there would be future 'services' and boasted of an endless supply.

He shuddered in Thaddeus's grasp as the waves of pleasure overtook him and though he was not certain how, he managed to keep his hold on his lover and not drop back to the bed. In fact, he was still clinging to Thaddeus like a life line and after the tremors slowed, he eased his grip and stroked his companion gently with one hand while he continued his attentions.

[Such a wonderful gift]
Thaddeus Grey 18 years ago
Thaddeus once again had to resist the urge to squirm and move under Alfarinn’s tightened grasp, though the grip likely would have prevented much in the way of movement. There was simply something about being held that made it difficult to stay still, perhaps out of a desire for even more contact though in their current situation that was nearly impossible. In any case he made up for his body’s good behavior with more vigorous motions with his mouth, channeling that streak of energy into something enjoyable.

At his lover’s remark he wondered for a moment, with mild amusement, just how rigorous these tests would be.

[I’m sure you can quite thoroughly test that theory.]

He couldn’t help but be pleased with Alfarinn’s readiness to answer a challenge, thinking that perhaps they both had just enough of a competitive streak to make things interesting. There were quite a lot of ways in which their personalities seemed to work well together, though; better than he would have thought possible. He hadn’t believed his personality worked particularly well with –anyone- and he only managed to keep the friends he had through force of will, in spite of his nature. With Alfarinn it was so different.

Such affectionate thoughts soon blurred in with more physical feelings of their shared experience, which was with every moment reaching its peak. Feeling his lover shuddering beneath him as the apex of pleasure struck, his own release followed just behind in a burst of white behind his eyes, rendering him very nearly senseless save the awareness of their two bodies and the sensations blending between them. As their passionate movements slowed to more gentle touches and the waves of pleasure slowly subsided, Thaddeus reflected on his own continued reluctance to stop touching and pull away, even if it was to turn around. Eventually he moved one hand to rest on his lover’s hip, the other still wrapped around one thigh, and lifted his head with a contented sigh.

After a moment of comfortably resting his head against Alfarinn’s thigh, he tapped into his reserves of initiative and pulled back, turning around and stretching out next to his lover in a fluid motion. In spite of his reluctance to move at all he couldn’t help but be happy to snuggle up at his lover’s side. Grinning, he draped one arm across Alfarinn’s midsection and rested his chin on his lover’s chest, peering up and beaming with a pleased expression.

Bending down, he placed a light kiss on one collar bone before looking up again, turning his head to rest his cheek where his chin had been.

“For such a special treasure.”

He traced his fingers along Alfarinn’s side, content to simply feel skin under his hand, and closed his eyes, savoring the moment. He was in that state of being not quite tired enough to sleep but too sated to think of doing anything more than staying in bed, snuggled and comfortable.

With his eyes still closed, he spoke, softly as his hand wandered up to Alfarinn’s hair.

“Are you tired?”

He was almost surprised at how sleepy he sounded and felt his mouth curve into a smile at his mind’s child like insistence that he was not quite ready to sleep.
Alfarinn 18 years ago
Alfarinn leaned back against the pillows with a contented sigh, as Thaddeus became still above him. His hands trailed lightly and languidly along his companion's sides and down the legs that framed his head. Thaddeus made for beautiful architecture; he had never had such a delightful roof to stare at, nor columns that were so pleasing to touch.

He chuckled now about the thought of testing Thaddeus's limits and felt that it would be a difficult but pleasurable task to wear his lover out before himself.

[Perhaps if I slept for a week and feed quite well then I could simply outlast you with either the need for sleep or hunger because otherwise I think we are very well and wonderfully matched.]

With his desires sated he was happy to lay still with Thaddeus against him. He could feel the flushed cheek like a warm brand against his thigh, knowing that it would retain his lover's heat for a short time even after Thaddeus moved away. The cool strands of blonde hair were an enjoyable slight tickle as they fanned out across his upper leg.

Soon though Thaddeus found the energy to turn around and as pleasant as his roof had been, Alfarinn quickly wrapped his arms around his lover and pulled him close, this was paradise. He could ask for nothing more than moments like this, stolen from their busy, dangerous lives, in which they seemed to have nothing but time for each other.

Smiling at Thaddeus, he returned the kiss by giving a light brushing of cool lips to his Beloved's forehead.

"You are the blanket and I think that is very special indeed. Absolutely necessary. Everyone should have one but no one else can have mine. I am stingy with my blanket. "

To illustrate his point, Alfarinn hugged Thaddeus a little tighter before loosening his grip and giving his companion another kiss. He would not have thought of himself as a blanket thief, being cold with or without the sheets and comforters left him very unconcerned about whether he was covered or sprawled out bare on the bed. But if Thaddeus were the blanket then he would definitely want to pull it close and snug.

"A security blanket. You make me feel safe and loved. I don't think I had one of those as a child but it is hard to remember."Â?

He tilted his chin forward to look down at Thaddeus and found his lover's eyes closed even as fingers found their way into his hair. Reaching down with his free hand, Alfarinn pulled the covers up around them and tucked them up over his companion's shoulder.

"Strangely, no, I am not. I think I just want to lay here a while with you. I am sure I will drift off eventually."Â?

Holding Thaddeus and watching him sleep was a rare pleasure; he normally fell asleep first and many times they woke up together. He reached up to his lover's wrist and gently began undoing the buckles on the leather. Setting the band aside, he reached for the other wrist so that Thaddeus would not drift off in them only to awake some time in the night to find them uncomfortable.

"This was an amazing present. Thank you."Â?

He gave Thaddeus another kiss as he continued working. It was slow going with the use of only one hand but Alfarinn refused to pull the other one away from his lover's back and besides there was something enjoyable about lightly working the buckles loose a little bit at a time. It was like unwrapping the present even though it had already been given.
Thaddeus Grey 18 years ago
Thaddeus smiled inwardly and reflected that they were, as Alfarinn had said, quite well matched indeed; in fact, they fit together quite well. From multiple angles. Case in point, as he was now nestled quite comfortably against his lover’s side.

He closed his eyes at the touch of Alfarinn’s lips to his skin, marveling at how such a slight gesture could send such a shiver of feeling through him. His lover’s comments had him repressing the urge to grin like a fool and failing quite spectacularly, though he refrained enough to return the gentle kiss with one of his own before pulling back and speaking with mock gravity.

“Perhaps you should write your name on your blanket, then, to keep others from stealing me.”

He pretended to consider this option carefully, inspecting both arms as though surveying for the perfect spot to tattoo Alfarinn’s name.

“Hmm, but where to put the all important name tag…”

Deciding that he was likely bordering on silly behavior, he shook his head and snuggled closer, fiddling with a stray strand of hair.

“Of course, there isn’t much chance your blanket would be confused with another.”

Feeling quite warm and content, just as a blanket should be, his lover’s comments only made him feel all the warmer.

“Then I am doing my job.” He smiled slightly before continuing in a more conversational tone. “I don’t remember if I had a special blanket, though my mother used to claim that I would get quite upset as a child when she tried to make me go to sleep anywhere but my own bed. I was apparently a nightmare when we traveled.”

Some might argue that he was still a nightmare when he traveled but then those same people would likely hold that opinion no matter what the situation.

Letting his eyes fall closed again, he nodded his agreement, settling more comfortably on the bed and trying to work up the inclination to move enough to get under the blankets. Fortunately Alfarinn was apparently thinking along the same lines and he soon found himself quite snuggly tucked in.

“That sounds just right.”

He raised his eyebrows when Alfarinn took his wrist, then realized that he had forgotten to take off the accessories. Deciding his lover was doing a delightful job of removing the leather wrist bands, he didn’t interfere except to offer up his other hand when the first was done.

He smiled lightly at Alfarinn’s declaration, pleased that the thought of doing something special, however, small, had occurred to him when there was an opportunity to act on it.

“Mmm, I do hope it wasn’t too presumptuous…” he chuckled before adding: “…of course, I only say that –after- the fact…”
Alfarinn 18 years ago
Alfarinn looked down at Thaddeus raising both eyebrows upward in surprise. He smiled at the thought of writing his name on his companion somewhere prominent where everyone could see. He also knew that it was very much not necessary and that was something he loved much more about Thaddeus. He simply found himself shocked that his lover suggested it and he wondered if either of them would be the type to get a tattoo if they could indeed be marked.

He smiled and trailed a finger lightly down Thaddeus's back.

“Where to write my name...”

Alfarinn continued to touch along his lover's spine, then the curve of his lower back and onto the swell of one cheek before smirking mischievously at his partner.

Sitting up, he gently pushed on one of Thaddeus's shoulders until his lover was laying on his back. Straddling his companion's waist, Alfarinn leaned down and took the tail end of a piece of his hair and held it like a brush. With a look of intense concentration, he began slowly and carefully scrawling his name across Thaddeus's chest.

He thought of a little Thaddeus waking up in an unfamiliar room and could not get over how adorable he probably looked with his hair all ruffled and sleepily rubbing his eyes. The thought of such innocence having a nightmare was enough to make him want to pull the grown Thaddeus closer, though admittedly it took little provocation for that to happen.

As he settled back in, he did just that before remembering the bands and the collar. He paused at the last and looked once more at his companion.

“Thaddeus, How could you possibly be presumptuous when it comes to me? I cannot think of anything you could do that I would not like, certainly not anything that you enjoyed. Besides even if we did find something neither of us were interested in repeating I would not find anything wrong with attempting it once. So rest easy and be as bold as you like. I find very irresistible.”

Thaddeus had a way of being charming no matter what he was doing and Alfarinn sincerely could not think of an action that his lover would willingly take that he wouldn't enjoy as well. They were safe in the knowledge that such experiments were truly pleasing because of the bond and that made him happy. Thaddeus had the same certain knowledge that his empathy and bonding gave him that the spoken pleasure was actually real and not feigned for the other's benefit.

With that comforting thought, he smiled and reached up to gently slid his fingers along the collar until he found the buckle.

Thaddeus smiled slightly as Alfarinn searched for other likely places to put his name, finding his expression was met with a matching smirk. He had time enough to break into a chuckle at this before he found himself on his back and pinned to the bed in the most comfortable manner. He raised an eyebrow, still grinning in amusement, but otherwise held still while Alfarinn carefully ‘painted’ across his chest, resisting the urge to squirm at the slight tickle by biting the inside of his cheek. Alfarinn, meanwhile, looked to be quite focused on what he was doing, further motivating Thaddeus to behave.

He quite gladly rolled back over and did his part to get the two of them closer together, giving his lover’s neck a playful, if not exactly feisty, nip.

He again rested his chin lightly on Alfarinn’s chest, wondering if he was perhaps being –too- cuddly, when his lover responded to exactly such sentiments. He lowered his eyes, somewhat shy, and shifted his weight so he could wrap his arms around Alfarinn’s waist.

“I just want to treat you well.” He smiled sheepishly. “You’re important to me; I don’t want our familiarity to result in a lapse of manners on my part when I can’t think of anyone more important to use them on. I suppose I am still striking the balance.”

He sighed softly and rested his cheek on his newly adopted pillow, closing his eyes as he felt hands slip up his neck to the buckle holding the collar in place. In a way this was all still so new to him, and in spite of evidence to the contrary Thaddeus had always been slow to change, being set in the ways from the day he was born according to some. His eyes still closed, he trailed his hand blindly over Alfarinn’s shoulder, seeking out the soft strands of hair by touch.

“I’ll try to rest easy though.”

His body, in any case, seemed happy to take that under advisement as limbs slowly grew heavier and his eyes less willing to open again. He reflected that he ought to move lest he fall asleep crushing Alfarinn uncomfortably under his weight.

In just a minute.

Raising an eyebrow at the small bite to his neck Alfarinn looked over at his companion.

"I could have sworn you were tired. Those actions will lead to staying up all day."Â?

He smiled at his lover's earnest statement and pulled Thaddeus closer. It was very different and wonderful to know that someone was concerned at times more about you than themselves. So many of his shallow relationships in the past had been about what the other person could gain from him or what he could do for them tonight. For the first time in centuries he truly wanted to give someone everything he had and it was someone who was not asking for it. Thaddeus wanted simply him. Alfarinn noted with a smile that Thaddeus most certainly had him.

"You were thinking of me when you gave me such a nice gift. I think that's the height of manners."Â?

Brushing a kiss across the top of Thaddeus's hairline, he watched Thaddeus settle comfortably and his eyes fall shut. He laid still and watched the steady rise and fall of his lover's shoulder peeking out of the blanket and how the light seemed caught in the white blonde strands. With a tiny sigh, he decided he could not watch Thaddeus sleep for hours and the light would eventually bother his companion. Trying his best to be careful to not disturb Thaddeus, Alfarinn leaned over and turned out the light.

He was in the lobby of the hotel, walking behind a short, fat man, who he knew to be the manager. The manager was talking very quickly, keeping him walking in spite of his desire to stop and look around. They walked together to the red room, which looked suspiciously like the speakeasy in which he and Palmer had killed quite a few hours in Charleston. He sat down at the small round table where Claire was waiting, and the manager disappeared.

It seemed they spoke for hours then, but the words slipped through his mind like water through a sieve and he could only seem to remember her amused expression and his own increasing anxiety. He turned his head toward the air vent, which was oversized with antique gold scrollwork, and again and again Claire turned his attention back, taking his chin in her hand. Sometimes when he turned back he would see other faces; once his long dead mother, another time Mai, another time just some woman who was not Claire.

Finally he turned in time to see a shadow cross by the air vent, which by now had grown to a quarter of the height of the wall, the slats going rounded like the bars of a cage, but it was the smell that made him certain.

‘What is that? What’s in there?’

Claire smiled and shook her head. ‘Oh, it’s just the dead thing.’

Thaddeus went cold at that, though not with fright. He realized with sudden certainty that he had known all along what was here, that this was –why- he came, and everyone, Claire, the manager, everyone knew it too. And Claire had tried to distract him, was still trying to distract him.

‘We’re going to feed him soon. Don’t worry about that right now. Let’s go.’

Instead, he wandered over to the vent, his heart pounding as he approached; some sort of black corruption filled the air, climbed up the walls, bleeding through silk wallpaper and spreading out in little black spider veins. Something thick and shadowy poured out of the vent and then retreated again, and suddenly Claire’s hand was on his arm, pulling him away.

‘You don’t want to bother with that.’

He followed Claire from the room, panic taking over as he realized the memory of the dead thing was already slipping away again, his dream self content to go along and let the matter go while another part tried to fight and hold on.

They walked into another room with red walls, padded like the back of a booth but all the way up to the ceiling.

He had forgotten the dead thing without knowing he had forgotten, but he knew it would not be wise to touch the walls. Instead, he looked to Claire, confused.

‘I know better,’ she said with a slight smirk, and grabbed his hand by the wrist. It should have been easy to escape, she wasn’t gripping him tightly, but he found he could not move as Claire picked up a sharp blade from the table and slashed his palm across the span.

It didn’t hurt, and just as he thought there was not as much blood as he would have expected, it came pouring out in alarmingly bright red rivers. He saw, once the act was done, that Claire had done the right thing, that she understood after all; it seemed perfectly good and right that she cut his hand. Now he could go over to the wall.

He rested his bloody hand flat against the cushioned surface and watched as it sank deeper and deeper, until his hand disappeared completely, and his wrist followed after. His hand, which was beginning to sting now, searched blindly inside the wall until it grabbed hold of something, but before he could pull it out he remembered the dead thing, the thing inside the walls, and his eyes flew open, awake in an instant.

His first thought was that he didn’t remember falling asleep.

“Mmmph.”
Alfarinn 18 years ago
Alfarinn had closed his eyes and lay there listening to the sounds of the city with Thaddeus held comfortably close. The darkness surrounded them like soothing blanket, cocooning them in a cool twilight of safety. The rising sun pushed relentlessly against the heavy curtains and though it failed to reach its fiery hand into the room to touch them, it lent a subtle light behind the hanging fabric that would have allowed him to see well enough to watch his companion in the semi darkness without disturbing him with the lamp.

He had watched his lover sleeping soundly in the growing light for a long while before finally turning his head towards the ceiling and eventually closing his eyes.

The night had been long and there was so much that they needed to do. The explosion seemed minor in comparison to the other things that were so pressing in their lives. The event should have been a small chance to relax but had become another night of stress and worry. For the moment though they had peace and Alfarinn was reluctant to sleep through all of it.

He should, he would need his rest. In a minute.

Thaddeus stirred next to him and made a sound. Did he wake him?

Alfarinn held still but through the bond it would seem that Thaddeus was conscious for the moment. He realized now that Thaddeus was awake that his lover seemed somewhat anxious. A nightmare then. Alfarinn did not have little Thaddeus waking up in a strange bed to a bad dream; he had the grown Thaddeus waking up in his own bed from a nightmare that was probably justly founded in all the concerns that weighed down upon them. He slowly rolled over onto his side, moving Thaddeus with him. Gently wrapping his arms once more around his lover, he settled his head next to Thaddeus's neck and whispered softly near his companion's ear.

"Beloved, everything is alright. Go back to sleep."Â?

Now what on earth was –that-.

Thaddeus didn’t know, but it would seem his limited imagination was growing more carefree as he slept, inventing ‘dead things’ to disturb his sleep. As if he didn’t have enough –real- things to keep his mind occupied.

Claire, though, was certainly real, and very much present. Clear enough what that meant, in Thaddeus’s mind; his conscience was delivering a reminder. He owed her information. Sighing softly, he unclenched his fist, frowning at the angry red crescents on his palm. Fortunately his nails couldn’t do more than dent skin; he kept them trimmed to the quick, though tonight he saw there was a little he could cut back.

Then Alfarinn stirred; Thaddeus had thought he had been quiet enough but reflected that it likely didn’t matter. His mind had probably been noisy enough to wake a bear…were he bonded to him. He sighed and made to look up, but Alfarinn was already turning them over, settling into the bed. Thaddeus moved closer, clearing away thoughts of what to tell whom and when and cutting his nails and dead things. He shivered pleasantly at the voice whispering along his neck, closing his eyes and resting his head on the pillow. Random images mixing together to tell their silly stories and disturb his sleep seemed far less important that Alfarinn’s cool skin on his own, the blanket wrapped around them, dim light and a soft bed and sleep.

After all, everything was all right.

“Didn’t mean to wake you, love.”
