Sic Transit Mathias
He understood.
It didn't make the farewell any easier, nor did it lessen the emptiness he felt now.
But he understood.
Shay and Patrick had family responsibilities to take care of,and as much as Mathias wanted to be there - as much as he needed to be there - it just wasn't realistic. So goodbyes were said, and long lingering kisses..and held in tears (Mathias) and no so held back ones (Shay). Making sure that Shay and PAtrick had boarded safely,Mathias headed out....
...and into an uncertain future. Ellis had brought him into Tacharan, helped him to remember his purpose. She was dead now, gone in a moment. Shay had helped him believe in love, and brought light into his life again. She was on her way across the country, and while not gone as Ellis was - she still was not at his side. Where did he stand? With Tacharan and the world in general the answer was not so clear.
But Mathias aimed to find out.
And in a moment it occurred to him - perhaps he needed to get away. From Nachton, from everything that clung to him in this city...revisit his past and perhaps get a pointer towards the future.
Tickets were ordered..Kiev,Constantinople,Jerusalem...night only itineraries were much easier to make these days.
Mathias took one last look at the house he and Shay shared, before climbing into his car and the unknown.
