Filling the empty spaces (attn Fallon)

Suki stood in front of the strip mall just off of White Street. In this location there was a locally owned furniture shop, an antique shop and an eclectic import shop. Of course there was also a Starbucks and laundramat but her goal loomed in front of her. Frank's Furniture was open till midnight and Suki planned to close the place down. The large Target sign down the road comforted her, since she knew that not everything would be found here.

Sipping her mocha late she glanced at her watch to verify the time at 8:45. Expecting Fallon to arrive in 15 minutes, she reviewed her list of necessities. She knew that inside the store it was set up like most furniture shops, with mini rooms that one could walk through as well as rows of couches, chairs, beds and tables. It would take a while just to look at everything and then return to compare choices. Suki stuffed her digital camera into her purse, alongside her leather bound notebook.

Climbing from the car after thanking the driver she smoothed down her 'assistant' outfit that consisted of a pair of dark gray gauchos and matching jacket. Under the black coat was a bright red linen shell with a mandarin collar. Her nails and heels matched the shirt perfectly. Her long hair was neatly braided down her back though she had hairsticks if she needed it out of the way. Her shoes clicked authoratively on the asphalt parking lot as she stode to the store entrance to await Fallon.

By now Fallon was feeling just a tad overwhelmed. So many things to think of, and all in one evening! Normally Fallon would have made all these decisions over a period of at least a few days or a week. But on the other hand, she was glad at Suki's focused direction they would just get more accomplished all that much sooner.

Glad to hear Suki would pick up sheets elsewhere, Fallon pointed out the ones she thought Cyrus would like, then she moved to the towels, and told Suki the size and type she wanted, opting for the full looped terrycloth, as opposed to the sheered velour type. The sets, Fallon stated, were to be a bath sheet, towel, hand towel, wash cloth, and tub mat, and she wanted two of each color, sticking again with colors that would accentuate the bath decor, and also those for the master suite, making sure they also complimented the colorings there. Fallon liked the luxury of the bath sheets for her body and smaller towels for her hair.

"Cleaning supplies? Suki, you don't forget a trick! Well, about the only things I can think of are standards like Windex, bleach, Woolite, Comet...though, maybe instead of Comet we go with Softscrub. I'd hate to have someone using too harsh an abrasive on the new surfaces. I know some of them don't pay a lot of attention to those details."

Though Fallon didn't find that as a fault, per se, more just another bit of attention to detail that many tended to overlook.

Looking to Suki, she wondered what was left on the woman's list.

"And...where to next?"

Suki placed items mentioned into the cart and those not available at this store she noted in her notebook. Soon this second cart was near to bursting. It was a good thing they only had a few more departments to run through.

"Good thinking. Next is standard hygine items. Just so that we have down what should be purchased in the future by installing it new in the house today. After that we are wandering to the grocery store just for a few essentials."

Suki knew that vampires were different but they still needed soap and shampoo. Plus knowing what Fallon prefered now would take care of any worry later on about what to restock the shelves with. They were going to have to have Ginger help them cart all this into the house. Good thing she was an amazingly huge help.

Suki swiftly flipped open her phone now that she was thinking of it and paged the driver, entering in a single digital word: Target. Knowing they would have an SUV waiting outside the doors in 20 to 25 minutes comforted her immensely.

"Ginger will be outside waiting for us in a bit less than half an hour. She can help drag all this around for us and into the house!"

Not at all that particular with most of her bath and beauty products, Fallon usually just went generic, or with whatever smelled good but was cheap. The only exception to this was she bought specific hair conditioners, and face creams. Her hair had always been lush and soft and she went out of her way to keep it that way. The shampoos she used were gentle strength, and the Suave brand was fine. She showed Suki the face cream and hair conditioner she liked, as well as mentioning two scents of colognes that Fallon liked but only bought every year or so, not really liking to spend money for something so frivolous.

"I can't for the life of me think of another thing I might need, nor Cyrus, for that matter. I don't think I've ever been this tired from just shopping before."

Fallon laughed, totally in good nature. How could she take exception to someone who only had your best interests at heart, and wanted what was best for you, and to give you an easy life. Suki was heaven sent, and Fallon would not do a thing to indicate any other thought.

"That sounds marvelous though, having Ginger meet you outside. Between the three of us we should be able to get this stuff unloaded in nothing flat. I'll just follow you back to the house. That was I can see how things are coming along, and the progress that's been made."

Though Fallon had seen the house, she hadn't been back since the work had been started, and was curious to see what was left to do. Not to mention she really wanted to see how some of the pieces she and Suki had chosen would fit. She would still have plenty of time ahead to feed, and get home in time to pack some more.

Keeping her face neutral as she plucked the products from the shelf, Suki also added her prefered products to the cart. Some things she would go to the salon for and other things she wrote down in her notebook. Reviewing her list one last time and verifying everything checked off.

"Any need for outdoor furniture? Decorations like windchimes? Stationary? Entry mat!"

Shocked she had almost skipped an important item, she directed the cart to the Home & Garden area and frowned at the selection. Knowing she could order a much nicer mat she picked a pair of generic mats. Neither said Welcome but instead imitated a wroght iron look but was fabric and would help keep the interior clean.

"Groceries? Would you have time to hit the store next or do you have any preferences I should know about? Aversions? Allergies?" Rolling her eyes at herself she plucked the pen out from her braid and crossed Allergies off of her list.

"I think Cyrus will eventually want a gate across the front drive as well as a fence surrounding most of the property." Suki mentioned as they waited for the cashier to ring up their total. "If you happen to have a list of authorized guests I can put them into the security system information so they dont trip the alarm every time they come to knock on the door."

Shaking her head, but laughing, Fallon now felt her brain was on the verge of exploding.

"I give! I give! Not that I doubted it for a second, but you win...you've out shopped me totally. I'm afraid anything else we need will have to wait, or I will gladly defer to your judgement. If you think its necessary for us to have outdoor furniture now, I know whatever you choose will be more than fine."

Fences, gates, door mats! Fallon was amazed every time Suki mentioned something else.

At the mention of guests, Fallon perked up a little. How fun it will be to have people over for a party at the new house! Those thoughts gave her a bit of a second wind, and she rattled off the list of her friends.

"That will be easy, and quick. Ana, and Aishe, of course. You've met Ana, I heard...at the Piazza spa? Apparently she took a tumble and you helped her?"

Fallon had forgotten Ana mentioned that. Of course Alec, Ambrose...funny how all their names started with A's. She guessed she'd better start meeting some B's, and giggled at the thought.

"Sorry...I think I've become slightly punchy."

Laughing Suki waved off the praise. Organization was all about lists, and she had lots of lists. Since she had moved not that long ago she knew exactly the kinds of things one forgot to pick up until you needed it, then you had to go out and get it. Which annoyed Suki no end, so she knew what things to put on her list.

"The new construction will be done in a few months and then you will want lots of outdoor furniture but we can get something temporary then plop it in the small kitchen courtyard when thats completed. Though I could go to that Porch & Patio store tomorrow night if you dont mind what I pick out."

More notes were hastily written down. Patio furniture and Security cleared people. She would get last names and have the security company run a check on these ladies prior to giving them even limited to night time access though security.

"Ana? Wears glasses? If so yes, I met her. Nice young lady and her friend was friendly too. I probably gave her my card." Suki giggled quietly at her own peculiarities.

"Punchy? Hhmm. I know the supplies from the Piazza have all been moved to the house, so it can tide you over once we get there." Passing her credit card to the young man behind the cash register, Suki swiftly signed the slip and they made their way to the door where Ginger waited patiently, though blocking the Fire Lane. Loading the large SUV went quickly with three hands and Suki climbed into the back seat after giving Fallon a quick hug.

"See you at the house. I can unpack all this while you find dinner."

"Ok, Suki...shall I bring anything back for you, or Ginger?"

Fallon teased.

Breathing a sigh of relief once the larger vehicle had been loaded up, Fallon returned Suki's hug. She confirmed she would meet back up with the two other women just as soon as she fed, and went back to her car. She could have followed them directly and eaten later, but seeing wisdom in not putting some things off, went with Suki's suggestion.

While Fallon adored Suki and truly did find her necessary, as well as important in her friendship, she didn't want to start relying on her for everything. Making a mental note to pick up a little something for Suki, as a way of thanking her personally, Fallon decided to check out the crowd at the Club Eternity, since it wasn't that far away. She usually had good luck finding a nice guy there, and the fact that they were usually quite inebriated only made it easier on her. She didn't want to expend a lot of effort tonight, being a bit tired now, and knowing she had more to do later.

(Fallon out and to Temporary Abode)

Waving Fallon off, Suki directed Ginger to the house. They chatted the whole way about how wonderful it was that Cyrus had found someone special, the new place and the results of the shopping trip.
