Personal Questions

1. Describe your character's personality: Reign is... well she's Reign. Having gotten through a mess with her now ex-boy friend and reunited with her family she's more settled, happier. She tends to be a bit smart mouthed and a little sarcastic. She has a very clear sense of right and wrong and will act on it standing up for herself or even a complete stranger. She is very independent and tends to march to the beat of her own drummer and gives her a quirky sense of humor. She is also very protective of anyone she calls family or friend, she isn't a traditional 'nurturer' but she does take care of people she considers hers. She's also learning how to lean on others, just a little, on occasion, some... a bit.

2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.) To a total stranger Reign typically appears distant and maybe a little intimidating. She prefers to dress casually favoring jeans, cargos and t-shirts to other cloths

3.What does your character like? Pool (straight pool is her favorite) Led Zeppelin, Jazz (esp Thelonious Monk), loves baseball having a particular passion for the Cubs, Chinese, Japanese and Thai food, dark beers and movies

4. Dislike? Charles Dickens, cheaters, football, speeding tickets, pop music, The Yankees, tuna fish, stupidity

5. (For humans) Describe what abilities you see your character having if they were turned. It would depend on who turned her. I can see her leaning towards shape shifting or suggestion or telekinesis but wouldn't want to swear to any of that until she was turned.

6. What are your fears? Being attacked, Reign is a big girl and can hold her own in most cases but she was attacked in a pool hall parking lot when she was sixteen by two much older men. Even though she has taken a few self-defense courses she still fears being attacked and over powered by an angry mark.

Ladders, more specifically standing on them. She really isn't sure why ladders freak her out so bad but they do, she won't even put her feet on the first step it is unstable, unsafe and just wrong. If she needs to reach something Reign will stand on a stool or chair or do with out.

Losing her family, this is an odd double standard because she has no qualm (a few regrets but no qualms) cutting herself off from them and everyone she knows. However, part of Reign feels secure and she derives strength in the knowledge that she could always go back to them and be accepted without question but she fears losing them, or any one member of her family, on a permanent basis. She feels she would have no direction, purpose, or strength without that anchor.

7. What is your character's strengths and weaknesses? Pool, Reign is currently ranked number one in the world in women's nine ball, over all twenty fifth in the world in straight pool, and has just broken the top fifty in men's seven ball. She's been playing since she was nine, practicing any where from two to ten hours a day depending on what point in her career we are talking about. Its also how she's earned her spending money since she was fifteen, and now how she earns her living, so she'd better be damned good.

Literary analysis, it was something that she just had a knack for as a child but lead to one half of a dual major for her BA (the other being Classical Studies). She has since obtained a Masters in Literature and has completed the course work for her PhD but hasn't finished her dissertation.

Very independent, she has never felt the need to conform to anyone's standards except her own. It's given her the courage to go off to school, to walk out on a job, and to make a name for her self in what is at best a risky career. It lets her think things through on her own terms and reach her own conclusions and go off the beaten path, if that's what she thinks is right.

Nearsighted, she has to squint to see things ten or so feet away, she also has a peculiar astigmatism and cannot wear contacts, so Reign is rather dependent on her glasses.

Prone to migraines, starting when she was seventeen or so Reign started getting migraines. She has been to several doctors but no one can find what triggers them, nor can they find a good medication to keep them under control so Reign just deals with them as best she can. A mild one she can manage but a severe one is very debilitating.

A bit of an isolationist, that is she doesn't go out looking for relationships. While Reign is not afraid of social settings, public gatherings or crowds and will talk to anybody, she doesn't like to deal with many people long term. Once she makes a friend she is very devoted to them, but it takes a while. So, she tends to be rather lonely, especially right now having no one around for her.

Hobbies & Skills (for more information, read here) Pool, reading, writes, reads and speaks Latin (part of that Classical Studies degree), plays with photography, speaks a rough smattering of Italian

Cosmetic Traits Glasses, Reign wears glasses she has several different pair in different styles so the look varies. She has a scar that runs from her shoulder to elbow on her left arm, a souvenir from a pool hall dispute that didn't go as well as it might have.

Quirks and Habits worthy of mention Doesn't like to wear anything sleeveless due to the scar on her arm, wears her wedding and engagement rings on the ring finger of her right hand.

Personal History

Reign is the oldest of six siblings, the others being brothers Alexander, Jason, Maxim (Max's middle name is Prometheus and Reign always calls him Pyro) and her sisters Portia and Helen. They are all two years apart in age and all grew up in the same house in Chicago. Being the only girl in the family and the neighborhood for a long time, Reign quickly took to hanging around with 'The Guys', a group of six boys who lived in the surrounding houses. The seven of them were extremely close and traveled as a pack all though elementary school and high school and they weren't exactly saints either, but it was never anything serious just minor things that they could talk their way out of. Reign tended to be the best at the fast-talking and was often the spokes person of the group.

When she was nine her father introduced her too a pool table, it happened quite by accident as they had been going to a hardware store but her father, Daniel couldn't resist stopping in the newly constructed hall and didn't see anything wrong with taking his daughter with him. Reign pestered him nearly daily to take her back so she could play. This went on for years until she was allowed to take the L on her own and didn't need a ride. She was able to join a youth league but quickly out classed the competition and started playing in local armature tournaments winning the open division (the average player was a 29 year old male) of the TriState amateur championship when she was sixteen. Where some kids got summer jobs, Reign hustled at the local pool halls only getting into any real trouble once. She was accosted in a parking lot one evening by two much larger and older men who did not appreciate a girl like her taking them for a serious chunk of change. Reign fought back and held her own well enough, breaking at least one guys nose and blacking the other guys eye, but very probably would have been seriously injured or worse if a few of The Guys, the twins John and Vince Giacalone and Nat Taylor, hadn't shown up looking for her. As it was she wound up in the ER with broken ribs, a split lip and a huge gash down the back of her left arm. Her parents did not take that well; Reign was only sixteen after all.

She used to spend part of the summers with her aunt and uncle in Wisconsin. She never quite fit in with her cousins and would have loathed the visits but her uncle was (and still is) very in to falconry keeping several birds of prey on his small farm. Reign adored the mews and would spend hours helping her uncle with the birds and learning what she could. She eventually developed a surprisingly good relationship with a Golden Eagle named Iah her uncle kept. While protective of his birds Reign was allowed to exercise, feed and train Iah any time she stayed with them. It was a wonderful feeling and Reign harbors a dream of someday having her own bird, but it doesn't seem likely given the lifestyle she has chosen.

As both of her parents having advanced degrees, and Reign being brighter than your average sort, it wasn't surprising that Reign should graduate from high school in three years at the age of sixteen. Fresh off her bar room brawl, as her parents called it, they were both reluctant to let Reign go off to college on her own. Recently made thoroughly aware of her own vulnerability Reign was reluctant to go off by herself as well and so commuted to a campus down town for the first year. At seventeen, she transferred to a small but elite university in upstate New York. Coming from an extremely close family it was odd to be on her own. But she soon met a guy. Determined not to be the sort of loser who runs off to school, falls in love and doesn't ever accomplish anything Reign kept Bastian at bay for a long time but eventually wound up admitting to herself (and him) she was in love. She took him home to her family, to The Guys and traveled with him. They were together for three years, until just before her graduation. But he disappeared off the face of the earth; no note, no card, no call just gone. Reign started out incredibly worried and imaging all sorts of horrible ends that Bastian might have met, but when she finally got to see his rooms and everything in them was gone, she got over being scared. She was nineteen and had been involved in one other relationship that ended with her hurt but this was beyond that, this was the worst sort of hurt and betrayal. Those feelings were made worse as Reign had recently accepted a sapphire ring from him that she had taken to be very nearly an engagement ring.

She went from depressed to infuriated and decided she wanted nothing to do with new people. After getting a dual BA she moved back to Chicago to get her Masters and Reign threw herself into her schoolwork and her pool. While she was working on her masters, she tried her hand at teaching literature at one of the area high schools. Half way through the year Reign got fed up with the students who didn't make an effort and the politics of the other teachers and walked out in the middle of the day and in the middle of class at that. Her temper tantrum led her into a pool hall in a questionable area of Chicago where, even in her school cloths of a nice skirt suit and heels, she started to play with fierce determination. Several people tried to get her attention and tried to play her but she just ignored them. Reign had been there for hours, and was now playing in her stocking feet. It was at least 11pm, and 11pm on a Tuesday night the hall was dead. It was only Reign the bartender and an Asian woman who just kept watching Reign. Finally, the woman set down a fresh Guinness next to Reign and told Reign she'd give her $1000 if Reign could beat her. Being newly out of a job, that caught Reign's attention but she wound up losing. She had no idea how that happened. It wasn't until several years later that Reign began to suspect that Pakpao had cheated by using telekinesis to help her own shots and hinder Reign's. The vampire, however, is admitting nothing.

In the end, though, the loss started a long and continuing discussion between the two of them and with in the month Pak had put forth the money to get Reign in the right tournaments and with in the next 18 months Reign was invited to play on the LPBL circuit (Ladies Professional Billiards League). Reign has announced herself loudly on the circuit rising from unknown to number one in record time. Everyone on the circuit has a nickname, for publicity purposes, Reign who is still attempting to earn her PhD is called Doc officially, Vicious by the fans for her ability and habit of setting down people in a rather nasty manner, and Fast Eddie by the players for her intensity and hustler manners.

As she started on her Masters one of The Guys, Vince, started officially dating Reign. She tried to love him, she really did, he was her oldest and closest friend and they did get married just after she finished her masters. They managed to stay married for quite a while, only divorcing a year ago. Vince finally admitted he couldn't take Reign's temper, her picking fights and then walking out, the fact that she was more interested in her pool game and dissertation than him and that she had -no- interest in starting a family.

Her pride deeply wounded by the divorce, the first ever in her family, Reign cut herself off from her them and moved to New York City. Unable to locate her, Reign's family was forced to leave Reign alone, but they also figured it would only be a matter of months for her to recover and came home to Chicago. When that didn't happen her father took to showing up at every stop on the LPBL tour trying to get in touch with Reign. In retaliation Reign has moved to Nachton and is taking a hiatus from the tour, the official story is that she is finalizing her dissertation. Only her manager and coach know where she is right now.

Edit as of 7/27/2011

Since arriving in Nachton several years ago Reign has had a lot happen to her. She reunited with her first love, Bastian despite the fact that he was now a werewolf. They were happy for a few years but have recently split. It wasn't the fact that he was a werewolf that broke them up either, werewolves are people too after all, it was an old argument about having a family. Reign now also harbors a belief that Bastian cheated on her as he took up with another woman, Diane, far -far- too quickly after their break up.

In the wake of their break up Reign was quite depressed and lonely and as he tried to help her though it, she found herself adopted by her vet, Dr. Aidan Xephier and his family of werewolves. She is now a human member of the Kadzait and while she has flirted with the idea of being Gifted, as they call it, she hasn't made up her mind on that point. She also developed friends with benefits relationship with a nice young wolf from a reservation in Arizona, Drew, aka The Boy. That has since cooled to just friends but she quite enjoys his company and he makes sure she gets out of the house and has some fun.

In her time here she has also had her house broken into, twice. This is despite the fact that she lives in a good neighborhood, quiet, and respectable. People don't even park in front of fire hydrants. Officially, the house was only broken into once. At the time she was still dating Bastian and he arrived and was able to chase the intruders off. The second time there were five men (as it turns out it was four men and a vampire), but through a fortunate set of circumstances none of them ever got in and only the vampire escaped. Between Drew coming round to visit and her neighbor, Kem, seeing the car roll up, her would be assailants were quickly dispatched. Reign learned that her nice polite, if slightly quirky looking (yet still hot), neighbor happened to be a vampire. In an attempt to keep her safe, or at least able to shout for help, Reign has become Kem's familiar.

It is an odd supernatural situation to be in, part of a wolf pack but human and a vampire's 'pet' but she takes it rather in stride. Even with all that oddness Reign has settled into Nachton quite nicely. She's even reunited with her family, although she still fears loosing them, perhaps more so now that she knows about all the things that go bump in the night. She has finished her dissertation and started touring again. She'd tell you Nachton has been good to her and she likes it here.
