Of an Evening (Drev)
It was after eight before she'd left the lawyer's office. After her meeting with Ethan, she'd had a meeting at the back, which went as well as expected, then she had a meeting with Drev's lawyer to get some contract stuff straightened out, so she had him read over the lease while she was there. It was a very long meeting, that didn't even start until almost six.
She parked behind the building nest to Drev's car and bike. She gathered her things out of the passenger seat and trudged her way up the stairs and into the apartment. The lights were dim and there was some lovely aroma in the air she couldn't identify beyond that it was food. It made her realize she was ravenous. She put her things down on and near the hall table, and called out to Drev.
"I'm home!"
"So, what did you make for dessert?"
'Should I be angry here? He's been great about everything else, so am I just expecting him to cuddle and reassure me? No, damnit I just asked him how he feels about me and he asked me about dessert. What the hell?"
Wren slowly put her feet to the floor, her anger and confusion plain on her face. With very deliberate movements she picked up her bowls and glass, then headed to the kitchen., very carefully places everything in the sink. Stalks into her bedroom, closing the door with a resounding thud. She plopped her butt into the large plush armchair under her window and swallowed hard against the tears that had started to leak out of the corners of her eyes.
She'd been expecting more from him; that much was obvious. But more what? He thought back to what she'd last said and realized his mistake. He knocked softly on the door.
"Wren, I'm sorry." He paused for a deep breath. "May I come in?"
"Yes." Her voice was thick and she had to swallow before she could say more. "Come in."
She pulled another tissue from the decorative box on her side table and chose to look out the window instead of at the now opening door.
He'd had a general idea of what he'd wanted to say to Wren, but seeing her in tears had pushed it from his mind. So without saying anything, he walked softly across the room and knelt on the floor before her with precise, agile motions; the same movements he uses when he kneels or sits to meditate in the dojo. He placed his hands on his thighs and knelt silently with his eyes downcast.
He was in a position of vulnerability. It was a gesture that admitted his mistake, and asked for forgiveness at the same time.
She'd seen him in that position in the studio before, but he had never hung his head like that before. She wanted to drop to the floor and hug him, tell him she was sorry for crying and that it was all her fault. But that wouldn't solve anything.
She sobbed softly, and reached out to him, dropping her hand before she touched his hair. This was not the evening she had envisioned at all. She wanted to say something, but the only words that wanted to come out were supplicating and self-blaming. She didn't want to be that way with him, she didn't want to be that way period.
Finally she gathered up the courage to lean forward and place her finger tips on his shoulder. She slid them slowly up his neck and under his chin, tipping his face up to her own.
"I need to know how you feel." Her words were whispered and her voice threatened to crack.
"I love you."
She slid from her chair, leaving the silk robe behind, and onto his lap. Her lips met his gently, briefly and she looked up into his eyes again.
"I love you, Drev. So very much, it makes my heart hurt." It sounded just a little cheesy even to her, but it was exactly how she felt. She wondered where they went from here, but she pushed it away. For now it was enough to simply be here.
"I'm pretty new at this 'love' thing..." he said softly before kissing her again, more deeply and passionately this time. He couldn't help his hands from gliding up along the curve of her waist to cup her perfect breasts. "But I'm not new at this..." With no more warning than a mischievous grin, he pulled Wren around him and pinned her to the floor.
"I guess we'll just have to learn together."
She squealed and laughed, when Drev pinned her to the floor. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down for another of those wonderfully passionate kisses, as tears of joy flowed down her face to dampen her hair.
She sighed as her panties were pushed away, and her hands moved to the waist of his pants. She couldn't remove them from this angle, but she could push them out of the way. A soft moan escaped her as her heated flesh touched his.
Yes, this was exactly where she wanted to be.
He gave Wren one more passionate kiss on her soft lips before closing his mouth around one of her swollen nipples. At the same moment, he eased himself into her with a firm, but gentle thrust of his hips. Her body felt more incredible than he could remember; even though they'd just made love an hour ago. It's like their bodies fit together better somehow, now that they've embraced their feelings for each other. With every slow, deliberate thrust into Wren's incredible warmth, Drev felt more and more connected to her. And that just made him want her, need her, love her all the more.
The climax of their love making burst forth in a shared cry, primal and perfect. Light exploded behind Wren's eyes as she wrapped her shuddering body around Drev's. They panted like caged beasts, as Drev's body crushed her's to the plush rug of her floor. One word resounded in Wren's head as she lay spent and loved.
Home.
