Paper Zoology 101 (lock please)

Mai knelt near the entrance to the cathedral, her white kimono tucked neatly under her legs as she busily made various origami animals out of the pages of a book that sat on the floor next to her. Her hair had been tied back hastily with a strip of cloth and seems to have been done less for decoration than because it had become an annoyance. Stray strands fell into her eyes but she did not seem to notice. Lions, monkies, birds and other creatures surrounded her and she seemed deeply focused on the piece in her hand which looked to be a giraffe in the making.

((OOC: Yes, she's tearing apart a book! ))

Talon continued to wander the Cathedral, inspecting the building snce he really didnt have anything better to do, he managed to find his way up to the upper level and was walking the balcony's when the other female arrived.. he silently slipped into one of the shadowed spots on the balcony where he could observe undetected..
'that can't be the rose.. smells all wrong.. she stinks of fear..' he thought to himself, his eyes slitted studing her from the distance..
'time for some more fun..'

with that he sprung himself from the hevy stone railing of the second floor and landed in a couch behind the new addition.. 'looks good from this side' he smiled and slowly rose to his full height as she spun around to regard him..

he slowly cocked his head to the side and took a few strong sniffs.. appraising her..

Amby was startled when the Asian girl looked up at her. 'She's blind! Eternity blind.. what a horrible fate. What strength to endure it..' So distracted by that thought she didn't notice until he was behind her, she spun around with a gasp as she heard him. A split second of eyeing him up and down didn't help her nerves. He was mammoth!

Mon dieu.. she whispered faintly and realized she was pinned between two unknowns in unfamiliar territory. Her instincts kicked in and she spun, leaped to the side with a one handed flip and landed on the edge of an unbroken pew, balancing on the balls of her feet. Her fists clenched and she crouched. Her eyes slits now, she growled deep in her throat softly. Is this how all new arrivals are welcomed?
Thaddeus Grey 19 years ago
And so this was the scene that Thaddeus walked into. To say he was severely unimpressed would be an understatement. Taking in the ruined pew, the two extremely badly dressed strangers, and Mai, merrily ripping out the pages of a book, Thaddeus felt his irritation increasing. He counted to ten. And then counted again.

Oh, this wouldn't do at all. He looked up at the ceiling, as if the offending display in front of him might simply vanish if he averted his eyes, and spoke.

What in the hell is going on here?
Talon 19 years ago
"Jumpy little frail aren't you" he said, his grin now even larger.. then realized she seemed a little more alarmed than he intended..
'somethings got this girl wired, and I don't think its it's me and half-pint'
He put his hands up palms out and did a little spin on the balls of his feet..

"Relax, I was just messin' with ya, besides.. we haven't had good luck with people landing on pews tonight" he glanced at Mai and gave her a sly wink..
Talon 19 years ago
Talon slowly turned his head to regard the new comer.. he glanced him up and down, and gave a quick sniff to the air..
A quick dismissive Snort and he turned back to the much more interesting people in front of him..

Amberelle still wasn't sure what to make of the huge man now grinning at her. He screamed dangerous. In a good way maybe, but she couldn't let her mind wander that way at the moment. The young girl seemed oblivious to all this so far, and Amby was chalking her reactions up to strained nerves when someone new walked in. 'Oh, he's pissed..' she'd seen that type of disapproving, angry look many times before growing up. Something in her shrank in the face of it a little and she wanted to run and hide before she angered him any more. Quickly hopping down she stood and dipped her head, strands of hair falling in disarray to partialy obscure her face. She crossed her arms in front, grasping her elbows and trying to shrink into herself some. I... well.. I'm not sure. I just arrived and was asking who to talk to and umm.. well he jumped down and I thought... he was umm.. attacking me...[i] her voice was soft and got softer as she spoke, finally trailing off.

Thaddeus's upper lip pulled back in a sneer at the young woman's quivering and entirely unsatisfactory statements, which did little to explain the pew and the book and what on earth the two strangers were doing inside the Cathedral.

Could he enjoy a single hour in the library without returning to complete chaos? While not all that shocked that Mai was desecrating a book (and he silently prayed it wasn't a rare one), Thaddeus found the combination of events in this room deeply concerning. Pinching his nose and looking momentarily at his feet, he came to a decision. The strangers would need to be dealt with in some way; he could worry about Morrigan's wrath, which would likely be considerably worse than his own, at a later time. Right now it seemed prudent to keep the visitors from doing more damage or causing other such trouble; there already seemed to be a conflict brewing.

Deciding he liked the looks of the man even less than those of the woman, though it was certainly a near thing, it was her he spoke to.

What is your business here?

He silently prayed they did not wish to stay.
Talon 19 years ago
Talon Produced another Cigar and Lit it, sauntered over to one of the nearby pews and had a seat.. he sat there watching Mai fold and create her origami.. and tried to look like he was ignoring the dandy that had walked in, but watching him fret was almost too much for Talon
'this guys a riot, wonder how often the stick gets changed'
he thought.. while trying very hard not to laugh outloud..

'Well his attitude isn't improving.. I certainly hope he is not one of the Elders. I'm screwed if he is..' She clenched and unclenched her jaw several times as she fought with herself. 'There is still time to turn and flee, nothing says I *have* to stay here. But on my own, odds are he will find me and take me back..' She shivered. Steeling herself she slowly drew herself up and lifter her head until her eyes met the sneering man's. She could be just as aristocratic if need be

I have come seeking a place among my Clan. I was under the impression all of our kind were welcome here. Please, correct me if I was wrong. Amberelle's eyes were brilliantly gold, cold and gleemed in the darkness. She reminded herself that this was not the man she feared, and she had just as much right to be here as he did. She just hoped her resolve would last as long as needed..
Thaddeus Grey 19 years ago
Good GOD, can the brute not go ten minutes without destroying something? Thaddeus turned to glare at the big man, but his anger was slightly tempered by a genuine curiosity; what sort of person would even conceive of smoking in this place as acceptable behavior? The man was clearly lacking in any sense of propriety whatsoever. What sort of lunatics was he dealing with? The woman's reply, however, distracted him from further action against the brute.

Thaddeus looked the woman up and down. She certainly didn't dress like an Anantyan, or at least none he had seen before. Her last comments held a trace of the characteristic poise of their clan, but her earlier discomfort still played prominent in his mind. Something about that small retreating woman being a fellow clan member tugged at his heart and filled him with foreboding. Thaddeus could not quite put his finger on this feeling and decided to dwell on it more later.

Indeed, members of the Clan are welcome here. I have no wish to keep you from this mission; you will want to speak to Morrigan of the Triad and leader of the Order of the Rose. I am not certain of where she is at present, but she should not prove difficult to find. If you are willing to wait while I see to this gentleman, I will go with you in search of her.
Talon 19 years ago
Talon slowly looked up, and then slowly around the room, was there someone else here? 'Gentleman.. is he talking about me?' he thought..'he must be.. i'm the only man here' he stopped and glanced at Fop again..'yeah..the only man here..' and grinned again.. then went back to paying attention to the origami
Amberelle DeEspionne 19 years ago
She noticed how he glared at the larger man and it dawned on her that this mountain was obviously not someone he knew. Interesting. Keeping her composure, she nodded slightly to him I would appreciate your assistance greatly, thank you. I do think I should move my car soon, it smells like rain comming. There will be some place for it? She glanced out the still open doors at her car with it's top still down. It made her smile, she did love that car.

[[ooc : I'm out, time to go home! yay!]]
Thaddeus Grey 19 years ago
She has a car? What an odd day this is.

Thaddeus inclined his head slightly in acknowledgement of the woman's statements. He was uncertain of exactly where her vehicle would go, but had little doubt some sort of arrangement could be made.

Excuse me for just a moment then.

With that, Thaddeus turned his attention back to the brute. He approached him carefully, much as one would a wild animal, and wrinkled his nose delicately at the stench of foul smoke emitting from the brute's cigar. He frowned again at the sight of the dilapitated pew, but decided his main priority was to prevent further damage to the facility. With that thought in mind, he made an effort to contain his distaste.

And what might your business here be?

/ooc and I'm going to the movies, but will be back later tonight
Mai 19 years ago
Ah, Thaddeus had decided to join the fun. Wasn't that nice? She listened to him speak to the new comers and spared a glance around. No doubt the situation was far from how he felt things should go. Her Ba-di was young yet and still did not realize the clan had always taken all kinds and molded them to Anantya's needs. His pride in his clan could not be faulted, however and therefore Mai never bothered to correct him.

Mai closed the book with its few remaining pages and slowly stood. Coming over to stand beside Thaddeus, she reached out and lightly put a hand on his arm. Looking up at him with a faint smile, she said.

"Ba-di-kun, Talon-san and...the onnanoko have come to live with us."
Morrigan Kinsey 19 years ago
Sifting through research in her office at the cathedral, Morrigan glanced out the lead-ornamented window to see a modern passenger vehicle stopped in front of the entrance gates. What careless person would do this? Sensing movement outside, she felt her presence was needed to sort out this situation. She neatly arranged her research on her desk and made her way to the front entrance.

Thoughts of this regular journey went back to an earlier time when her advancement was followed by the bustle of skirts. In this moment, she was thankful the humans had finally accepted the wearing of pants by women so that she could find properly tailored suits for her physique. The clicking of her heels on the tiled floors slowed as sight of a damaged pew came into view. What was the reason for this blatant disrespect for Anantya property? Her pace quickened as her termper piqued. Had the Hunt dispatched someone to deal with this mess?

Turning the corner to the doors, Morrigan's eyes scanned the area to find two strangers flanked by a young and promising Nightsman and her kinswoman, Mai. If these two were a threat, Mai would have used her skills appropriately.

Hello. What brings you to the destruction of our dear cathedral?

Her rich and steady voice broke into the air with authority. As usual, Morrigan maintained her composure and yet calculated the punishment these two were likely to receive for the destruction of clan property. She fumed internally at the unlikelihood of finding another artisan to replace the pew with craftmanship matching that of the original creator. Such a shame to lose fine things.
Mai 19 years ago
Mai sensed the approach of Morrigan even before she could hear the familiar click click click on the floor. She watched the elder approach with calm impassiveness. Of course she could take responsibility for the destruction of the pew, Mai held no fear of the celt but that was hardly interesting. Instead it would be more telling to keep silent and see just what was said in explanation.

"Konnichiwa, Bara-san." Mai nodded slightly in Morrigan's direction.
Chryseis Angelique 19 years ago
Chryseis returned from the evenings dinner of protesters and angry mobsmen feeling full of rich strength. Signing a long and elated tune the nightingale Chryseis fluttered past the beautiful cathedral of her clan. From high above she saw a car parked out front and her eyes gleemed with hopeful excitement to see if dessert had just arrived. She swooped down and passed over the vechile but saw nothing inside. As she flew quickly to the cathedral itself she looked back and saw a flash of green, perhaps a flash of eyes, it had gone by quickly.

She manuevered in from high above, Knowing ways into the cathedral that didnt require doors. Inside she saw smashed pews and torn paper placed delicatly on the floor. Morrigan, Mai and Thaddeus stood around 2 new people, one a male, who was carelessly slouched in a pew smoking, and another female, who seemed to be bracing herself against Thaddeus's wonderful charm.

'Having a party are we.' she mused to herself.
Morrigan Kinsey 19 years ago
Sensing her blood daughter coming near, Morrigan watched as Chryseis made her entrance and joined the fiasco at hand. Nodding respectfully to Mai, she turned her attention back to Chryseis.

So it seems. We are waiting patiently for someone to delight us with the course of events that brought our pews to their poor state.

She turned to address the group. I believe introductions are also in order for our unannounced guests. I am Morrigan Kinsey, elder of the triad of the Anantya clan and leader of the Order of the Rose. Our recent addition to the soiree is Chryseis Angelique, a long-standing member of the clan. Forgive me for assuming introductions have been made for the rest, but it seems you have already become...acquainted.

Morrigan turned her piercing gaze at the two newcomers.

And you are?

((sleepy time for moi!))
Chryseis Angelique 19 years ago
At the mention of her name Chryseis flew down the cathedral floor and quickly shifted back to her natural form.

Curtseying and nodding at Morrigan she cocked her head to the side and stared blankly at the new commers.

"Well met strangers."

Feeling a dampness on her lip, Chryseis quickly wiped away a small smear of blood.
Thaddeus Grey 19 years ago
Thaddeus pinched the bridge of his nose as he processed Mai's information. So the brute's name was Talon, and he could only hope the man was housebroken. He rather suspected Talon was responsible for the pew in some way, and he shuddered to think of the havoc the large savage could wreak on the lovely Mansion. The thought distressed him and brought back the same feeling of unsettlement he had had moments before when speaking to the young woman.

A strange day indeed.

Though he turned to look to Mai, his expression grave, he spared a glance toward the brute, and spoke more to himself than anyone.

They are Anantya.

But Anantya was not them.

This stray thought was broken before Thaddeus could persue it further by the familiar clicking of heels.

This would not make a good first impression on the Lady Morrigan at all. He couldn't help but feel a sense of smugness at her approach; she would set everything to rights again, he was sure of it. He straightened his posture, wiped an imaginary spec of dirt from his shoulders, and watched her entrance.
