The Arslantai Home - Ger Kogji

The Arslantai Home

The driveway is paved with a limestone shade of irregularly shaped brick and the edges lined with rounded bricks that resembled time-worn cobblestone in a pale blue shade. Weathered to look like the streets and walkways of an old European village it presents the perfect introduction for the house. The exterior walls are a pale yellow concrete that imitates stucco with a minor texture with a brilliant white trim. A multi-level roof line presents an interesting silhouette against the thick New England forest behind the house. The shingles are a recycled material in a pleasing brown shade that fit the locale and style of the house as closely as possible.

A courtyard with half walls and an iron gate showcases a large fountain while protecting the front door. At the very end of the courtyard on the left was one servants entrance door. Servants aside, the front doors open to a beautiful marble floored foyer complete with intricate medalion and matching cream and dark brown border. The walls are such a pale yellow they gleam with a look of perpetual early morning sun, a color that is continued throughout most of the house. Looking up at the ceiling it appears to be white with a hint of blue, further reinforcing the illusion of outdoors in the pale morning light. An ornate ceiling medallion bursts around a simple yet elegant chandelier. Two art niches flank the front door, displaying ancient pottery in superb condition. Otherwise the foyer is empty.

To the left is a hallway that runs along the formal dining room to the kitchen and living areas. The flooring is a pale bamboo that is found through the entire house except the kitchen and baths. The dining area houses a table, ten chairs, a hutch and a buffet in a black geometric style. The room is lush with plants, mainly bamboo and orchids in silvery ceramic urns. Beautiful china peaks out of the hutch and a stunning rug warms the floor. Like most of the house this room boasts bamboo flooring, pale yellow walls and white blue ceiling with simple crown molding.

On the wall oposite the dining room there is a window open to view the koi pond outside and a small piano bar that holds Fallon's piano and one chaise for the audiance. Once you come to the end of the corridor you can venture to the right into the leisure room and kitchen or the left which leads to the bedrooms and garage.

Down the next hall on the left is the utility room which is as top of the line as it is spotless, with space for everything in the ample storage, crisp cupboards and deep drawers. On the oposite wall is the stairs ascending to the second floor in a crisp sweep of pale bamboo stairs, lush red runner and white railing trim.

Just past the stairs the hall continued on towards the servants entrance, garage and guest bedroom. The guest bedroom is decorated in pine and blue, with full bedroom set, small loveseat and entertainment center. The bath is dark blue and white with several plants trailing from the shelves on the walls.

Traveling back up the hall way towards the kitchen you find Suki's bedroom on the left. This oddly shaped room is painted a rich green color and has a beautiful rug on the floor. The black bedroom set sits behind a shoji screen separating it from the black leather sofa and entertainment system, complete with desk, TV and computer. The luxury bath is white with dark green accents and lush with plants. Two doors lead out to the enclosed courtyard.

The courtyard is walled completely and protected by the same safety glass ceiling as the pool area. Plants vie for attention and space in this space. Hidden amongst the leaves stands a bronze statue and a garden bench. The courtyard is home to large planters of a variety of sun loving plants, trees and vines. There are even a few night blooming plants hidden amongst the foliage.

The gourmet kitchen was a tranquil wash of blue slate floor and blonde wood cabinets with intricate inset cherry detailing. The long expanse of countertop was set with silvery grey granite and accented with organically flowing faucets for each deep silver sink. The appliances were stainless steel faced and industrial sized even though two of the occupants did not need to eat.

The pantry had been downsized from the version laid out in the plans to make room for the secret stairway down but was still sufficient to house a large supply of canned goods and staples. Small pots of herbs adorned the windowsill tempting the cook to add the delicate bounty to any dish.

Across the island and counter and past the stools was a cozy breakfast nook. Complete with a stylish round bistro type table and six chairs. The iron set was patina in a pale green covering its grey metal with an etched glass top depicting orchids. Each chair had a cushion atop the seat in natural linen.

The great room was just a step away and showcased the lanai with its wall of windows. The large plush area rug was a warm bronze in shade that lent color to the black leather sofas and dark wood tables. A large built in entertainment center loomed along one wall, discretely housing a very large flat screen television and substantial stereo system.

Outside on the lanai was more comfortable furniture in the covered areas. The plush upholstery was in a rich leaf green that did not detract from the large quantity of plants growing in planters all about. The koi pond gave a delicate sound of running water to the area along with the colorful flash of gold and white fish swimming about.

The pool took up most of the space remaining, leaving some area to walk or sit in the lounge chairs strewn about. Planters gave the somewhat indoor space an amazing outdoorsy feel. The glass ceiling above let in the light but also had a retractable shade that could be used to make the area safe for its residents no matter what hour. The pool itself was cloaked in a beautiful blue-green tile with white accents. The matching hot tub bubbled in welcome close to the master suite. Instead of candles outside there were strings of mini lights around the trees and topiaries. These could be turned on to lend light and atmosphere without the bright lights activated.

On the other side of the lanai, along the house, was an entrance to the Living Room. This was a more formal looking room with a rich rug covering the gleaming wood floor. The walls in this room were not painted but still the same color in silk fabric wall treatment with a subtle texture and luxurious feel. The space held two conversation groups each complete with black leather sofa, loveseat, chair and ottoman. The silk pillows were done in dark green with various shapes and textures along with several throws draped across the backs elegantly. The three windows that overlook the pool are bare with no obstructions to spoil the view but each has a sheer green drape off to the side and a valance above to finish the look. The fireplace is a grey marble with sparkly strands of minerals throughout it. Inside the hearth is the one silk plant, it is a rich red and orange piece with autumn foliage and silken orchids in stark white. It sets the fireplace ablaze without a single flame. The tables in this room are simple sharp edged style with a medium tone staining the oak. The light fixtures include wall sconces in a natural style, organic ceiling fixtures and several small table lamp in slim black ceramic with creamy shades.

The study on the right of the foyer mimics the living room with the same sofa only this room includes a chaise as well as the seating group. The accent color is a plum shade, dark purple with a hint of red undertones. The pillows and throws reflect this shade perfectly while the sheer curtains pool upon the hardwood floor in a deep rich purple puddle. The built in bookcases are full of books and the lighting sitting on the tables or floor is perfect to entice someone to curl up and read.

A small powder room is across the hall from the study. This room is the shade of green bamboo and boasts several vases hung on the walls housing just that. The vessel sink is an olive and brown blown glass bowl atop a bronze counter. A motion sensitive faucet pours into the bowl in the shape of a bamboo pipe under the warm illumination from the overhead light. The mirror is an art piece with bronze bamboo framing its oval shape. Pale yellow hand towels lay across the top of the counter for use after the sink. The door to the commode imitates a soji screen in a warm shade of wood and creamy thick paper. The smaller room houses a cream colored commode and small linen storage. The door to the lanai is equiped with the same security as the servants door.

The entrance to the mastersuite is secure as well with discretely hidden palm and DNA reader before the thick doors. Once inside the doors a beautiful niche is visible near the bathroom's door. To the left is the master suite. The main difference from the plans to the actual suite is the complete lack of windows. The doors to the lanai are also solid and not sliding. Making the suite secure for vampires at rest. The pale bamboo flooring is adorned with a beautiful rug and furniture. The bedspread is a whisper soft silk in blue tinged with purple undertones. The pillows are thick and fluffy in in a variety of sizes. The sitting room houses beautiful set of bamboo furniture with cushions in the same shade as the bedspread. A cashmere throw is folded neatly along the back of the loveseat in the small space. A contemporary table lamp brings light to the space and illuminates the three walls that each display works of art.

The master bath is tiled in slate blocks in a pale blueish grey atop a gently heated in floor system. The chandelier is a magnificent work of blown glass art that adds whimsy to the space. The sinks are quite different from eachother but flow amazingly well in the space. Her sink is a blue glass bowl with a modern silver fixture while his is a whiteish nickel bronze finish on a beautiful organic metel bowl with old fashioned silver fixtures. Both rest on matching countertops of white marble. The tub is a masterpiece in engineering with integrated filling, lights, jets for gentle bubbling to white water rapids and a waterfall in a deep blue shade. White towels and decorative soaps and salts adorn its edges just waiting to be put to use. The shower is sectioned off with a clear glass block wall that does not obscure the view completely. Three heads and a ceiling rain faucet make this a memorable place to get clean. There is also a slim bench along a fourth of the wall. This space is tiled in glass of blues, whites and yellows with silver metalic accents. Two cedar stools with plush cushions, on near the makeup area and another near the tub provide seating should it be required.

The house smells of green growing plants in every room. The soft sounds of flowing water can be heard on the lanai from the pond or various rooms with flowing fountains on walls or tables. It is a warm, welcoming space with sharp geometric shapes flowing into soothing curved edges. This home is named Ger Kogji which is Mongol for Home to Flourish.

Under the home lies a secret and secure space, complete with living room, game room, mini kitchen, bedroom, bath, vault and antiquities vault. This area is accessed only through a secret door in the pantry, down a flight of stairs and through palm and DNA scanners. Inside the walls are a warm tuscan golden yellow with plush carpeting in a light brown. The fat leather sofas are a dark brown as is the three recliners and two ottomon. Sturdy wood furniture in round egded style and dark stain accompany the space. The pool table is regulation size with green felt top. More for entertaining guests who may need something to do all day while the sun is high. There is also an electronic dartboard on a large cork board that is covered in cloth to match the walls and an octagonal card table and chairs. The bedroom is in a matching color scheme and style with soft rounded corners and shapes on the dark wood. The bedspread is a mocha shade in silk. The bath is cream and brown with a seperate shower and whirlpool tub. Access to either vault is through a discrete door and more security. The antiquities vault displays armor, swords, pottery and a few unusual items from Cyrus' human life. The weapon vault contains guns, blades, cash and excellent forged papers all under extreme lockdown. Neither of the two spaces lack in richness but display it alongside the high tech technology keeping the items safe. Both boast brushed steel walls, floor and ceiling all 5 inches thick with persian rugs to prevent slipping and dress the spaces up. The lighting is self contained and functional on motion and heat sensors while wired into the climate control system to prevent false alarms. The steel podiums are enclosed with glass to show off each piece, which is in stark contrast to the austere shelving housing weaponry. Both rooms have chairs, modern styled of thick unbreakable but light molded plastic. Neither room is a place anyone would wish to linger long in. This subteranian level has no plants or water features nor artwork along the walls. This is clearly a last resort escape space.
