Letting the cat out of the bag. (private - Alec)

Simon walked quickly up the metal railing that led to the front entrance of the slaughterhouse that encompassed the Abbatoir. His sense of urgency was noticed by the bouncers that stood out front, both moving waiting patrons out of the way and opening the door for their clan leader. Simon didn't even have to pause as he walked through the door and towards the stairs leading down to the pit and his office.

Pushing through the crowd, the loud music successfully put him even more on edge as he ran his hand over the panel next to his office door and barely waited for it to unlock before entering. Immediately he tore off his grey jacket and pushed up the sleeves of his matching grey turtleneck. He had to move quickly now that Ellis was walking around in plain view. Why wouldn't she, she had nothing to hide from now.

Running his hands over his mouth, he walked to his desk and turned on his computer. He needed to speak with his new Merc leader, Alec. It was time to let the clan know about Ellis and god willing he wouldn't have a riot on his hands.

Nova didn’t need to be told twice. It wasn’t like she wanted to stick around and hear how the little spat between Simon and Carol would play out, that was for sure, and while she felt a little guilty leaving Alec to deal with the mess, she’d feel worse about leaving Marthinus to be patted down and questioned by the security guards of his own clan.

“Thanks…” She headed for the door, but then turned around and pointed at Alec. “I need to bug you about that dude and stuff. Later.” Maybe having someone trying to kill her should be at the top of her priority list but it just couldn’t be with Marthinus waiting outside.

Carol watched with hooded eyes Nova walk out of the awkward silence. She tried not to let what Simon did fill her, knowing he did it to exert his leadership, but it still fucking stung to be talked to like an underling from him. This moment was a long time coming, but she knew it would happen. Maybe she was too comfortable now as the Leader's woman, her opinions weighing even more than before - but ultimately she was just his human girlfriend and he made that painfully clear.

The entire situation was not good, but she cared about Marthinus just as much as Simon and she knew him better - him being outside was just too much to bear. Quietly Carol pushed off the wall she had crumbled against and took a step toward the door. She gave Simon a quick glance to see if he would object, and it boiled inside her that she was asking his permission to leave the room, but when he did not make a move to object, Carol walked past Alec's jaw clenched stare and left.

As the door closed behind her, she felt a sob in her chest. She'd deal with the humiliation later, but right then she needed to see Marthinus. Carol kicked off her heeled sandals and ran.

Simon waited a moment after Carol left and then looked at Alec. If the moment could grow any more tense, Simon felt the world would crack in half. Pushing his shoulders back straight, he gave Alec his orders.

'Have the mercs contain the area. I doubt Marthinus will come in but I want the area secured before he even takes a step inside.'

He walked out of his office and back into the Abby. The music was still pulsating as if nothing had changed. So Simon walked into the crowd of vampires and lost himself, if even only for a few moments. Then he would go outside and see what had become of grandson.

Sensing that reinforcing Simon's decision would have been A Bad Thing right then, Alec kept it simple.

"We'll get it done, boss."

Left in Simon's office, he made use of the communications available. Patching through to the squad leader directly, he ensured that the perimeter was secure, but underlined that Marthinus was to be left unhandled after the weapons check unless he initiated action. After confirming that the perimeter and prospective paths were secure, he called upon the freshman team. They were to mobilize and double check the other avenues of approach on the very slim chance that this was a diversionary tactic. Finally, he contacted tech and observation and alerted them to monitor all systems for access.

Marthinus may have been family to the others, but in Alec's mind he was just a compromised asset. Something to be stolen back from the enemy since its destruction was not an option at this time. Heading quickly back to the Domicile, he made his own preparations to ensure that he would have a shot at lifting that asset in the near future. If nothing else, it could net another location for surveillance. But the window of opportunity to pull this off would be slim, indeed.
