I'll Pencil You In (open)

Kem had never seen any reason to take more space in the archives for himself aside from one of the simple workstations in the public area. Since taking on double duty, however, that had changed and he had moved himself into the single, vacant office in the archives which afforded him a little more room and some privacy from too-curious eyes.

Unlocking and entering the office, he realized with dismay that it was cluttered. He hated clutter. His desk space was almost always sparkling clean, neat, organized, and perfectly arranged. Now the desk was piled with papers, files, folders, reports, loan requests, clan business and archive business all in heaps overflowing onto the floor.

He grimaced and put his laptop bag down in the corner. Before getting to work, he would clean his desk. It was technically his night off... he was allowed to spend some of it cleaning.

With a sigh, he picked up the hated planner on his desk. It used to be empty; he'd hated using it. Now it was full of his meticulous handwriting. He'd had to start using it, to keep up with everything. Meetings, emails, things to arrange... it was all there to add additional stress to his evening. Yay.

The evening had started out oddly, with their little visit to Reign and Bastian's, and apparently it was not quickly going to get better. Certainly not so by staring at this mes and whining about it in his inner monologue. With a yawn and a stretch, Kem got to work on organizing everything.

Standing back a bit Pak straightened her suit and made a moderately successful attempt to return to the slick professional monster that had invaded the archives rather than the five foot four lost puppy she felt like.

It was a good thing Kem didn't take advantage of the smashing amounts of guilt she felt after a freak out like that. If so he could have easily gotten her to leave him be for the rest of the night, possibly the rest of the week, and maybe even persuaded her to act as his assistant and gotten his desk cleaned up and a few phone calls returned. Yes something was still nagging at her but the worst was over, she thought... hoped.

She was apparently very out of sorts still as she didn't argue with Kem and did make an effort to play again.

"I'd never put a heel in your eye. Foot, groin, nose, forehead those are all fair game though."Â?

She obediently ran upstairs though took off her jacket and left it behind and changed from her heels to what she called her dress sneakers. Who'd ever thought of making nice plain black leather sneakers with sort of a ballet flat meets Mary Janes look was her friend.

It was hard to make a 62 floor round trip fast but she did her best and met Kem back in the lobby. She still had most of her suit on, although she'd had to cuff the pants, she'd forgotten they were cut to go with massive heels and she was no several inches shorter, and she hadn't given up her Blackberry, it was still tucked inside her pocket.

"Feel safer now?"Â?

Kem walked across the street to Liefde with Pak and loitered in the lobby while she changed. When she returned she was back to her usual unintimidating height, and her shoes looked like they wouldn't cause massive permanent damage.

"Much better," he said with a nod. "Now let's go."

Heading outside once more, he pointed to the parking garage. "You're going to have to drive. I still haven't replaced my car."

He wasn't going to rub in that Pak was the one who'd destroyed his BMW. Nope. Not going to mention that 80k down the tubes. Not at all. Even if it was for a good cause.

Besides, now he got to go buy a shiny new toy. He almost had all the specs and options worked out. Then he could go to the dealership and make some employee a very happy camper.

As they reached Pak's car, Kem dug his cell phone out of his laptop case (sadly, he actually knew where it was these days), and held it up to show her as he flicked it off. Maybe she had to resort to dirty methods, but she'd acheived her objective. For the next hour or two anyway.
