Shopping 101 ((Attn Ysa and Marie))
Leaning against one of the cement traffic pilings near the street, Amby kept an eye up and down the strip for her friend's arrival. The night was warm and balmy, a slight breeze stirring her wavy long blonde hair some. She smiled, absent mindedly tucking a lock behind her ear. She loved summer time. The warmth complimented her sun kissed skin and golden coloring. Plus the fashion was always so fun. Her cropped and frayed blue jean shorts left the blonde's long legs as bare as could be, and her pink glitter painted toes wiggled with her excitement in her favorite comfy espadrilles. She tugged the hem of her clingy black v-neck tee down some, just figeting while she waited.
Safely tucked away in her purse was a long list of stores to suggest. Once she met Ysabel's new charge she'd have a much better idea where to go but so far the list included everything from bath and body products to furniture and electronics and all the little things that made a teenager happy. This excursion had her bubbling with excitement and it had been a long time since she'd looked forward to an evening out like she had this one.
Giving the shorter girl a wide grin, she nodded. Oh.. that blouse is cute, and oui I think all of those will work. I really love that vest too! I think I am going to get me one.. In fact she was just pulling one from the rack in her size while she spoke, and wiggled it triumphantly at the girl. She shifted a few of the other things she'd grabbed for herself to one arm and reminded herself they were shopping for someone else, not her. Still, nothing said she couldn't try on just a couple of cute things while Marie was, right?
Looking over the other two's shoulders she spied Roger making his way just inside the store's entrance and the Creole gave him a slight wave to let him know he was indeed in the right place. He nodded and took up a spot off to the side, arms crossed as he waited for the women to finish.
Turning her attention back, Amby looked at the dress Ysabel held up and her mouth scrunched. It's.. ummm... Something I would expect my grandmere' to wear. But it's cute, she hastily added. Just a bit too stuffy for me. And too long sleeved, too high necked... you name it, she added to herself with a smirk.
Why don't you try those on Marie? I'm going to try these jeans on... and this vest. Spinning towards the dressing rooms with a giggle, she called out behind her, We can model for Ysabel!
Chanting to herself along the way "I will not pick up anything else" she disappeared behind a curtain.
She did find she liked the blouse that Ysabel had picked out, but she liked it better with the top few buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up. She happily announced to both vampires while wearing it.
“Look! I’m a preppy!”
It had never been her look before, but she rather liked it. Of course, she probably wasn’t getting it quite right but it was as close as she’d ever managed and was quite excited about it.
It was the peacock feather top that was still her favorite, for god only knew what reason, and she beamed at Ysabel.
“Do you like it?”
She couldn’t bear it if her vampire didn’t like it. It would upset her a great deal to be that wrong about what her keeper would like.
“I almost want to wear it out of the store. Its note quite as pretty as your dress but I like it.”
Marie was doing her best not to bounce. It was also the most she’d ever commented on Ysabel’s dresses. She’d been quite careful to keep that admiration to herself.
"Ah, well," she lamented lightly. "I think I might simply have to content myself with being the holder of the credit card. Apparently in a fashionable store such as this, I can pick out the stuffy antiquated styles!"
The idea made her laugh; you could lead a horse to water, as the saying went, and apparently it was true with her. She was gratified, however, when Marie came out while Amby was trying on her own selections, and seemed to like the shirt. Surely it was a result of Marie's being her familiar, but it soothed Ysabel's injured pride even so, and she beamed at her familiar. The blouse did look cute, she thought. Very sophisticated, and yes, maybe a little preppy with the vest.
"I'm going to have to chase admirers off with a stick once school starts," she said. She was careful to avoid the term boyfriend or anything that suggested sex. She had a feeling it would be a long time before Marie warmed up to anyone in that regard.
"Since you like that shirt so much," she said, nodding at the peacock feather shirt Marie loved, "Why don't we get a second one a size up? You're going to grow yet, and that way you'll fit into it next year. I wouldn't recommend changing into it now though. I'm sure we'll have to stop for a snack at some point, and it would be a shame if anything happened to it before we even left the mall. It'll be waiting for you when we get home."
She was very happy that Marie had taken her request to heart and seemed a little more "into" shopping now.
When both Marie and Amberelle were finished trying on what interested them and their purchases were made, they hit the next few stores on Amby's list with equal success. Marie hopefully didn't realize it, but Roger's car was becoming very full indeed. They were almost done with clothes for the moment however; next up they needed to find some sort of decorations, personal items, things a teenage girl would like to have in her room.
Ysabel had decorated the room Marie was in and she liked it, but it was very formal and impersonal, meant for guests; it wasn't currently a good space for a young girl to have friends over or do homework.
Once again she looked to Amberelle to help her. "We need furniture," she said. "A bed, a desk, lighting, posters, all of those things." She looked to Marie and nodded her head with a smile, indicating that marie should tell Amby what she liked or had in mind, if she'd had time to think about it.
((ooc: locked until Amby returns! It's just no fun shopping w/o her)
