Tai groaned as he woke up (again) and flailed his arm around insensibly, not completely sure what he was looking for. Something broke with a clatter of glass. Maybe it was already broken. He wasn't sure. he sat up, pounding his head on the bed frame above him, forgetting he was on the floor. Beside him his groping hand found something - the inside of Val's very shapely ankle, from the feel of it.
Tai reached up and shoved the bed a few feet over, getting it out of the way. The room at the Piazza was dark, of course, for they'd made sure they shut the curtains tightly. He didn't need natural light to know they'd made a pretty good wreck of the place. Val was every bit as rowdy and enthusiastic in bed (and out of it) as she'd promised to be.
He sat up very carefully, remembering when they'd abandoned the bed in the very early hours of the morning. All the sheets were on the floor by then anyhow, so it only made sense that they went along with them. The couch cushions, too, were in complete disarray.
It had been a really, really fun night. And it appeared they had plenty of time for repeats - or whatever, as it appeared to be the middle of the day judging by the light behind the curtains. Tai looked down at Val's slender form, which was tangled up in a sheet or two, one of her hands thrown across his lap.
Definitely a fun night.
Still pinned down and continuing her exploratory nibble she laughed against his neck while she used her big toe to follow his calf up to his thigh up to his ass. She was flexible. OK he had a point.
“I’m sure some Sicilians might argue with you.”
She, however, was Irish and didn’t really care. Although it would have been fun to listen to Giovanni, argue with her current lover. Knowing he was in the same clan Val quickly and easily made up her mind that tonight wouldn’t be a one time occurrence, at least not if he was willing. She didn’t need a relationship but she could always use a good romp in bed.
Val wasn’t even perturbed by his abrupt demeanor. He might be semi irritated but she had no doubt she’d know when he was really pissed, and she was relatively certain she could hold her own.
“MMMmmmm shouldn’t your line when I’m trapped her helplessly be something more like ‘I have ways of making you talk?’”
Her eyelids were half lowered and she looked anything but afraid of him.
“Tell me what you want lover, we’ll find a way to make it happen.”
Ambition was a virtue after all.
He barked a laugh when she fed him his lines, but he shook his head. "I don't think you want to hear my German accent," he admitted. His Japanese was still thick enough, in spite of his wealth of exposure to English in the last few years.
"Suffice to say that I will just have to subdue you the old fashioned way."
He proceeded to show her how women were subdued the old-fashioned way, tailoring his methods to her liking as she voiced her approval in certain spots. Her last question made him pause, and he looked up at her, smiled slyly, and said, "I'll get back to you on that. It looks like I'll be getting my immediate desires very shortly."
He was playing now, she was enjoying it.
“I had some part in the suffrage movement. Try me.”
She challenged. He did try though. It was unusual for Val to relinquish power of any sort but today she’d let him win and she was enjoying it. She wasn’t afraid to be a vocal lover. Hell, they’d trashed the room why would she be worried about a bit of noise at this point.
Subdued was the –last- thing she felt.
“You keep doing that and you’ll get your immediate desires right now.”
She said in a breathy voice.
“The rest will wait.”
Shy was not one of her strong points and Val reached up to pull him to her. She wanted him –now-.
"Consider yourself subdued," he said to Val, who now lay sprawled across his chest. His voice was wry with dry humor; he wasn't really sure who'd subdued anyone, or if any subduing had actually occurred.
Neither of them had asked the other if they were satisfied; another interesting development. It had been rather obvious, he thought, that they'd both been more than content with the outcome of their spontaneous tryst and he had to admit Val was pretty accomplished in bed.
"Do you run your business so energetically too?" he asked with a grin. "I can't believe it's slow."
Val chuckled against his chest, not currently interested in moving. Apparently, by going out hunting trying to avoid seducing dinner she’d managed an entirely different seduction. It worked out –very- well though. Tai was a hell of a lover even if he wasn’t much for small talk.
“I can’t afford to give all of my clients such personalized attention.”
She said with a sly grin.
Truthfully, it was just the damned economy and it was hard to sell high-end toys. She wasn’t losing money, yet; but it was getting close.
“Why, you applying for a job?”
He shifted beneath her, lifting her a bit and resettling her beside him. She was very light. Tucking his arm beneath her head he reached for the bedside remote and handed it to her. No reason not to enjoy evening TV while they waited for the sun to go down.
"Besides, what would you have me do for you? I'm definitely not the 'counter boy' type."
“Once I figure out if I have a job for you we can work out a payment plan.”
Impressed that he’d even managed to find the remote she switched on the television. It tuned in a random documentary about medieval siege engines. Good enough. She had a bit of interest in history and besides the narrator had a good voice and –didn’t- have an English accent.
She set the remote she Tai could easily snag it if old fashioned war fare didn’t interest him and watched for a few minutes.
“Are you looking for a job?”
Val had a few lose ideas but she would need a hand with them and Tai might fit the bill. Maybe.
Her next question made him sink into silence for a few minutes. Did he want a job? He supposed if he were planning to remain here in the USA, which was looking likelier by the day, he should indeed look for some means of employment. So far he'd been consumed and driven by Ellis' goals and desires, and while part of him needed that direction the rest of him screamed for independence from her.
With that impetus in mind Tai nodded again. "I wouldn't turn one down, depending on the nature of it. A man's got to make a living, right?"
Not that Val was much of a nine to five kind of gal. The dealership was the most serious and honest ‘job’ she’d ever had and even that she didn’t quite work at. Granted she’d been taking a more active roll lately simply because she was both bored and with the down turn in sales it was more economical to pay herself rather than someone else. However, even if the place went belly up she still had one hell of a nest egg and it was still growing. God love generous sires and good accountants.
Still knowing Tai was at least vaguely interested, she felt like maybe it was time to start moving in another direction or maybe just add something. Something more local.
“And what sort of gig would peak your interest? I’m guessing mostly nights and some how I don’t see you as they type to wear a monkey suit and sit behind a desk all day.”
"I can wear a... monkey suit, as you put it, as well as the next guy," he said, "but yes, perhaps field work is where I have the most experience."
What sort of racket would they run here in Nachton? "I can do just about anything," he said slowly, "but if what you're interested in is finances and bookkeeping, I might need to brush up some."
Val ran a business; he would have been shocked if she wasn't doing some skimming and fixing her books. It had been a few years since Tai had done that sort of thing, but he knew how it went. He was comfortable being the business man when the situation called for it, even assassination was his forte.
He raised his brows at her. "I'm talking about a partnership, though. Equal shares for equal parts in any venture."
He was too old and had been in the Yakuza too long to take orders from anyone else anymore. In addition, technically he was still Ellis' to command. He couldn't enter into a subordinate contract with anyone else, the way he saw it - and he didn't really want to, anyway.
“I can live with that.”
She said thoughtfully. If she ran the money side of things and he handled the muscle, they’d have a lot of options. This defiantly called for some serious thinking. Arms, drugs, cars, gambling, prostitution, funny the options never changed did they? Gambling and money lending would probably be the best place to start.
“I’ll have to get back to you with details though.”
One notion in particular had been persistent in his head recently, and he thought perhaps tonight would be a decent night to act on it. The sun was definitely on its way down, although it hadn't yet dipped below the buildings from the very little bit of light Tai could see. It was probably mid to late afternoon. They had several hours yet.
Regarding Val speculatively, Tai thought for a moment and finally said, "What are your plans this evening?"
When it appeared she hadn't exactly thought that far ahead Tai arranged a sort of date for them. Kind of. It made Val look skeptical, and it made him feel mildly anxious. But the potential for fun and, yes, a little mayhem, was too much to resist.
Beyond that, they would have to see...
