Personal Questions

1. Describe your character's personality - Charlie is humble, friendly, and focused. He has a shy smile and although he enjoys hanging out with the Pipers, he feels more comfortable with his best friend, the LT - Lothias Jameson. Charlie is easy going, laid back, and can easily slip in and out of his role as Sergeant for the Pipers.

2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.) Charlie dresses as a typical twenty five year old in the 21st century - comfortably worn blue jeans, logo t-shirts, and leather Sketcher oxford sneakers. He does not come across as intimidating, he is polite, and has an easy smile.

3.What does your character like?

- outdoor hobbies - Running, hiking
- sports - football, soccer
- music

4. Dislike?

- rude people - doesn't understand American abrasiveness and confrontational behavior from men in his physical generation
- country music
- dressing up - button up and slacks is fine, but he's no one's prom date

5. (For humans) Describe what abilities you see your character having if they were turned.

6. What are your fears? (please choose and explain 3 minimum)

Growing old alone - Charlie has a shy nature, but is fine around women, he just has yet to meet The One. It's either the wrong type of girl or the perfect one that is happily with someone. Charlie watched first hand the pain his best friend and pseudo-cousin Lothias went through when his parents were torn apart and then died. He can't imagine growing old without someone to grow old with him.

Nightmares - though not entirely vivid or more than maybe a couple times a month, Charlie dreams of his parents death, only he's with them and he can't stop it from happening. He wakes covered in sweat and his sheets damp from it. Only Lothias knows about the nightmares.

Heights - Who jumps out of a perfectly fine airplane? Charlie will do it, but he won't like it. Same thing with rock climbing - he'll do it, it's his job, and he does it well, but inside he's screaming his head off.

7. What is your character's strengths and weaknesses? (please pick 3 minimum of each and explain in detail how and why this affects your character)

Strengths -

Multiple Engineering degrees in the field of computational and systems biology - an integration of concepts and ideas from the biological sciences, engineering disciplines, and computer science.

Empathetic/Compassionate - Charlie is the go-to Piper for personal problems or strife within the unit. His easy nature and sound, mature advice aids to the fundamental well being of every Piper.

Tactically and technically proficient - Is incredibly skilled in the Piper's technical and electronic equipment. Has weekly contact with the Piper family Research & Development facility in Canberra, Australia.

Weaknesses -

Dyslexic - Not diagnosed until high school, Charlie dropped out and was home schooled by his adopted mother.

Shy - In normal human settings, Charlie is awkwardly shy. He is outwardly friendly and easy to talk to, but he almost always has to be approached first. Oddly enough, he is more confident with women than with men, but is most assuredly heterosexual, so it is odd, even to him.

Smoldering rage - Charlie is not quick to anger and is extremely laid back, but after years of torturous bullying, at the age of 14, he exploded into a murderous (although confined) rage on the oppressors. He was in therapy for his anger issues for the next five years.

Cosmetic Traits(Distinct, character defining physical attributes. These should be minor and offer no real power other than to make your character appear more interesting.)

Color blind in his right eye due to ultraviolet over exposure when he was 20. During an experiment with an ultraviolet laser at the R&D in Johannesburg, Charlie was exposed to intense rays and became red-blue color blind in his right eye. His left has since learned to cope with the deficiency.

Quirks and Habits worthy of mention -

Personal History 3rd person (1st is acceptable) but please be as detailed as possible, this can/will affect your rp with other players.

"So...you're not actually a blood relative of the Jamesons."

"No ma'am. My parents were friends with them."

"You were nine when they became your guardians, correct?"

"Yes, ma'am. They were killed in a car accident and Shayle Jameson became my guardian and raised me with his family."

Charlie watched as she put her stylus into her mouth, her lips full and shiny with gloss. "I'd like to talk about the fight," she said, her lips working around the pen.

Charlie looked up into her eyes and rolled his shoulders. "You mean...?"

She nodded at him.

"I'd rather not." Charlie's eyes flicked to her stylus as she began to write something. "What are you writing?"

She smiled at him and laid the stylus down. "I don't mean to pry, Charlie, but it is my job."

"Of course," he said, not wanting to be difficult. "It was just one fight, but...that's all it kind of...took."

School in the late seventies, early eighties, had very little in the way of diagnosing dyslexia, so Charlie suffered from unrelenting bullying and humiliation after relocating to his guardian's home in Russia, closer to the Pipers, unbeknownst to him. At nine years old he quietly endured the initial taunts of being a stranger in a new place, but once his disability had been brought out into the open, it went from harmless taunts to vicious bullying, and he suffered through it until his freshman year in high school.

"His name was Derek Yanof. He was a year older than me in school." Charlie shrugged. He could clearly remember Derek's face and his hurtful words, then eventually, his painful beatings.

Derek was never alone but Charlie always seemed to be; cornered on the walk home, in the halls, sometimes with teachers present. There was no relief to the tormenting. The shoving quickly escalated to fist fights against three or four boys, but Charlie kept it hidden, guarded. The problem wasn't just that Charlie was dyslexic or an outsider, he was different. He may have lived with the Jamesons, but he wasn't one of them.

"But I didn't realize it wasn't my last name they had a problem with." Charlie was silent for a few moments, but she didn't press him. She sat quietly across from him as he leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees.

The beating had been so severe that it put him in the hospital with broken ribs and a concussion with various types of cuts and bruises. It had been five against one, but he hadn't backed down and that only seemed to make it worse.

"Took me weeks for my ribs and they let me stay home for it. But Shayle told me I had to go back. I had...to. I couldn't understand why he was making go through it all. Later, he told me he had been waiting."

"Waiting?"

"Waiting for me to make my stand. To show them that a gift could be squandered. They, Derek and the other guys, hated me for not being able to defend myself against them. For not being a Jameson. So, one day, I showed them that I didn't have to be."

Charlie was quiet. He didn't want to talk about what he did to them. That he hunted all of them down, one by one. How he found Derek alone, finally...alone, and beat him so hard with a 2x4 that Derek's brain swelled.

"They pulled me out of school for good after that. The other kids wouldn't even look at me." Was that shame in Charlie's voice, he wondered, or was it pride. He shook his head. "That's not what I wanted. I don't want people to be afraid of me. That wasn't...me."

"Shayle moved the family closer to Brig and Lothias after that?"

Charlie nodded, his mood lightening considerably. "LT and I had a lot in common. He was an orphan, I was an orphan. They all sat me down and told me what they were, but no one asked me about Derek. No one by LT."

She sat there, staring at him with enthralled eyes.

"He asked me if I really put that kid into the hospital. I told him I did. LT told me that Derek and his family were werewolves as well; that if I could put a werewolf in the hospital, that I probably had some anger issues." Charlie smiled, recalling the conversation. "He told me that we were all part of something. Something outstanding. Something special. That if I let Shayle gift me, I could be where they all knew I belonged." He raised his eyebrows, staring at his hands.

"There's something to be said for belonging to something special. It's," Charlie paused, trying to find the right word that could possibly encompass how he felt back then. "It's...wonderful."

"You joined the Pipers with the LT after that?"

"And stayed with them ever since. It's what I am."

Charlie looked up at Vivienne and smiled. She chuckled for a moment and seemed perplexed by him. He wondered how she saw him now. What he didn't know was that Vivienne was torn in telling him that Charlie had put all but one of the bullies in the hospital and Derek was a vegetable now; that the other werewolf children were afraid of Charlie...Charlie, a human fourteen year old boy. Instead, she smiled at him and reached out, touching his arm.

"Thanks for telling me that, Charlie."

Charlie brightened at her touch. "Sure, Vivienne. Anything for you." And what Vivienne didn't realize was that he meant it.
