Cold Hands, Warm Heart (attn: Alex)

It was deliciously cold out these days and while not a massive Christmas person or fan Eiryk did enjoy the season. While he'd been planning things for some time now being at his studio downtown and seeing all the lights and shoppers, like something from The Christmas Song, had put him in a very festive mood. Well that or possibly just knowing that when he got home Alex would be there.

He hadn't worn gloves tonight and while his hands were never exactly warm right now, as he walked in and kicked his shoes off they were ice cold. So of course, the first thing he did was to place one on either side of Alex's face and kiss him.

"Hi honey I'm home."Â?

It was positively domestic. Eiryk was more than a little happy to have his boyfriend living with him it just felt right.

Hoping the shock of the cold would have slowed Alexander down a bit he quickly trotted back to reclaim his shoes and then off to put them away. Odds were there would be retaliation and that was fine, part of the game. But he didn't have to make it easy.

Alex poked Eiryk in the ribs gently. "You know what I meant," he said.

Pride reared its ugly head again and he stamped it down. Someday he'd take Eiryk someplace nice, instead of the other way around. But Eiryk had it right this time. It was a special occasion and as much as Alex might wish otherwise, he wasn't in much shape to contribute to this one. Next year.

He nodded against Eiryk's head and closed his eyes. He wouldn't say anything else on the topic. He did wonder where Eiryk had in mind though. Someplace in the US, for sure. But what would appeal to Eiryk? Someplace cold maybe. He liked the cold. Alex did too, for that matter.

"When are we supposed to leave?" He asked. He didn't think that information would be classified. He sort of had to know, after all.

"Super red eye on the twenty third. Or it might be super early on the twenty fourth. I think it depends on how you count. Pack warm clothes, no freezing to death on me."Â?

And that was the last Eiryk would say on the matter.

Conversation turned to other things but also became quieter. Soon enough Alex was somewhere between dozing and sleeping and Eiryk started reading the book his boyfriend, he still loved that word as applied to Alex, had set down. When he thought Alex was under enough Eiryk got back up, got his laptop and sad down in the chair in the living room and worked on a few other things until it was his bed time.

They could, and had, slept on the couch together but the bed was better. Eiryk carefully picked up Alex, almost as if he was afraid to break the man. Alex did wake up and Eiryk let him get to bed under his own power, it was probably safer but he got them both tucked in and passed out.
