Anantya Invasion!

Jin pulled the mini cooper into the underground parking lot, easily finding a visitor parking space with plenty of room for his little vehicle. He looked over at Mara and smiled, brushing a hand lightly down her arm.

"I'm glad you're coming with me. Sorcha probably wouldn't appreciate me dashing in for a few minutes and then rushing back out to see you."

He grinned and then thought to add. "She has a rather large dog, by the way, Gwyn. I thought perhaps it would be best to mention it. He's well behaved but larger than some ponies."

He shrugged and sighed. "He keeps her company since she insists on being Evenhet and living over here instead." At some point he should probably explain that to Mara. It was really Sorcha's tale to tell but there would come a time when he'd want Mara to know. Perhaps he would ask his daughter if he could mention it, in the interest of personal full disclosure, should it arise in conversation.

"Are you ready to go in?"

Sorcha did not know the answer to Mara's question. She probably knew more about Anantya than a lot of Evenhet but this was definitely a clan matter and even then they didn't have all the answers.

She went a whiter shade of her normal pale when Jin explained in very general terms that not only did her mother possess this ability that was apparently the focus of some mad man but she was also on record in Anantya archives as having used it during their Treaty with the werewolves.

"Its now or never. That's what he's telling you."Rio's words dripped scorn. "Of course you've let several thousand years go by assuming that nothing would ever happen to her so why should this be any different? Continue hiding in a hole, Sorcha. You're good at it."

Her dead sister's words hurt, truthful though they were. Sorcha absently patted Gwen on the side as she thought about the mother that she hadn't spoken to for so long. She sent to Jin. [I understand.] Sorcha looked at him thoughtfully. [You're the one sent to find him then? Please, stay safe.] Turning her attention to Mara, who may even also possess command for all she knew. [You too, please, be careful.]

((OOC: The "I understand" was for Jin alone, the rest she'd repeat to Mara as well, including telling Jin to be careful. ))

Mara let her hand drop to Jin's, which rested on her hip since his arm was around her waist. She gripped it almost desperately. It was one thing to go willingly into a relationship that already terrified her. She realized that there was every chance Jin would move on and leave her. But to have him torn away from her would break her. Having overcome her initial fear of being with him she knew she must love him completely or not at all. Mara didn't think she had the capability of doing anything in half-measures. It was the same with Amir. She would do anything she could for him. And now, Jin too.

"Thank you for your concern," she said with a smile. "I'm not worried."

Not for herself. Mara was not important. Whoever this killer was, he wouldn't be looking for her. Privately, though, she sent back to Sorcha.

[I'll do whatever I can to keep him safe, Sorcha. Don't worry. He may get absorbed in this chase but I won't stop looking in all directions for him.] Jin might not be able to look everywhere at once, particularly if he devoted himself as single-mindedly as Mara suspected he was capable to finding this killer. But Mara could, and would, devote herself to making sure that while he did his job, no one got the drop on him. She would die first.

Jin and Mara both promised to be safe and watchful. Talk turned to other things and a lighter mood settled in the room. Gwyn was given more attention and a few more treats before the visit was concluded. Eventually Mara and Jin stood to leave. They expressed their goodbyes and promised to keep in touch, especially if anything new were to happen. Sorcha promised to let them know if Evgeni had anything else that could be of use. Mara returned to her feline form and Jin carried her out, in one piece, the same way she came in, proving she had not been dinner for Gwyn.

((OOC: everyone out ))
