Kai took the sweater from Nikhila, there didn't seem to be any use in fighting with her.
"It's my pleasure. Y'all have fun!"
Laughing she watched them run off down the beach, before returning to her towel and carefully stowing Nikhila's sweater. The Black Eyed Peas were having the time of their lives, as she puts her ear buds back in and lays back down on her towel.
Enjoying the Spring Sunshine (open)
Kai sat on the beach, the waves tripping over her toes, incredibly disappointed. In the sand a small distance behind her loomed her surfboard, and beside it her wetsuit. It had been an impulse to come here and play in the water, and she'd not checked the surf report. There the ocean was all placid and calm. It was not in the mood to play and she very much felt like a little kid who wanted to take their ball and go home. Instead she sat on the sand and soaked in the sun.
The water against her toes was cold, and she'd go sit on her towel and sun bathe in a bit, but for a moment she was going to sulk and stare at the ocean, maybe she could shame it into kicking up some waves if she sat here long enough.
A few moments later, she crinkled her nose and threw the sea shell she'd found with her fingers out into the ocean. It was silly to sit there like that. So she got up, brushed sand from the bum of her swimsuit and went to her things. From a mesh bag she pulled out her ipod, tucked bright green buds into her ears, laid down on her towel and let P!nk wash away her case of the sulks. Her body began to warm in the warm spring sunshine and she began to hum along with the music.

She truly had intended to stop back and chat with Kai a bit, find out what exactly she had been up to in the arctic. But after finally wearing Thérèse down, no small feat, and doing some distance after that she found herself rather tired. Placing her hands on the small of her back and stretching a bit Nikhila realized all she really wanted to do was go home.
More concerning was Aidan, he had been rather quiet. There were reasons, she understood that and did her best not to press him. But unable to help him directly Nikhila worried for him and did her best to take care of him. She hadn't even been trying to get him to eat his greens of late, trying to keep things simple. Maybe she should get him to sleep some, she had her own method for that, and it should help some.
After a bit of a chat and deciding mutually that they were finished the group headed back. Nikhila did make a quick side trip to Kai promising to catch up later and studiously -not- asking after her sweat shirt. Although she might steal Aidan's on the way back to the Den. Just to wear it, because she could and enjoyed doing so.
Good byes were exchanged as well as promises, at least between she and Thérèse to meet again soon.

Not long after Nikhila, Thérèse, Xeph, and Greer stopped by briefly on their way back, the tide started to go out and it was high time she pack up and get to work. Sighing softly, Kai gathered up her things and headed to her car.
She liked the little hybrid, it spoke to her care for the earth tribal side, but she really wasn't a sedan kind of girl. She'd been eying a battered jeep that lived at the Den and it reminded her of the 4x4's they drove on the beaches back home. She wanted something fun and open for the summers that she could close up in the winter, maybe she'd go car shopping soon when her bonus for the trip finally cleared the bank.
Stuffing everything into the trunk and tying her board to the ski rack, she hopped in the drivers seat and drove over to the aquarium, showered and got back into the daily grind.
