So Much For Sneaking In (attn: Tavi)

Kiyoshi found the R'asa compound intimidating. He found a lot of things intimidating, really, but this one was pretty high up on his list. Having no one in Nachton to vouch for him he'd been stopped at the front gate by the guards who had rightly requested him to Change to prove his identity. They had been kind enough to allow him to find a private place to do so, slinking back to them on his belly to be questioned and given the "okay" to proceed.

Now he was wandering wide-eyed into the former psychiatric hospital wondering how he was supposed to find who he needed to find to introduce himself. He didn't have to stay here, was his one comforting thought. If he could find a job he could move away a little. It had occurred to him to camp out on the property but he didn't want to set himself apart any more than he already was.

He hiked his backpack up on his shoulders a little and followed the noises he could hear coming from a room ahead of him. They were muted, but with his heightened senses he could tell there was some sort of activity taking place. Coming to the metal door, Kiyoshi peeked in through the glass window but saw no one. Plenty of noise though.

Curiosity got the better of him and he cautiously pushed the door open on what appeared to be pure chaos. It occurred to him later that he might have done better to keep the door closed, but then, hindsight was always 20/20.

The mystery of the catnapping had been solved. Late last night she managed to find the location that one of the competitors was using to hide Mo. She went over the phone records of her top two suspects one night with a nice glass of wine and found something interesting. One of the cat breeders had called a number that was familiar, several times. Mrs. Blankenship. Interesting. So Tavi then looked at the rest of the woman's call list and noticed that she had bought an air conditioned storage unit not long after speaking with the ex-wife. Would she really have put the cat in there? It was worth looking into.

She staked out the storage units for the next few days and sure enough, the woman came by, jumped out of the car and went inside with a large water jug and a bag of food. Tavi then called the police with her findings and Mr. Blankenship. He, of course, wanted his prized pussy out of there immediately. The problem... well that would be that he was out of town for a conference.

The solution... he granted her temporary custody of the animal. Joy.

So now she was chasing the grey dust mop all over the common room because he was very tired of being couped up in a cage. Tavi couldn't say that she blamed him but it wouldn't be very wise for him to get loose here. He looked like a pure bred wolf snack.

Speed did not do her a lot of good when the damn feline kept darting under every piece of furniture in the place. She had been glaring at the little monster who was holed up under one of the sofas when the front door opened. Tavi turned to yell a warning to close it again. Mojo took that moment to bolt, straight for the opening and out toward a dubious freedom.

"Grab that cat!" She yelled at the newcomer while barreling toward him.
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
It probably said something about Kiyoshi that he wasn't surprised to be yelled at mere moments after arriving at his Pack's home in Nachton. As he opened the door something gray and fluffy darted out from beneath the furniture, scrambled up onto a chair, and launched itself in Kiyo's general direction.

He heard someone tell him to 'grab that cat,' and, not really one to question orders, Kiyo responded immediately to the demand. He stuck out his hands and snatched the flying critter out of the air, pulling it against him like a football. That was a bad move; claws immediately dug into his stomach through his shirt, causing him to yelp in surprise.

Assuming the idea was to not let the cat escape Kiyoshi did the next best thing, which was to run all the way into the room with his screeching, unhappy burden. Of course, whoever had been chasing the cat before was headed toward him as well. Stumbling sideways in his haste to get out of the way Kiyoshi spun gracefully on the ball of one foot -

- right into an end table. Wobbling, trying to recover, he turned again and cartwheeled over the arm of the sofa, having about half a second to wonder why his legs were all the way -up there- before he hit the ground face down, his backpack flying the opposite direction.

"Oh shit," he groaned into the floor.

He looked up at his outstretched hand to discover he had, indeed, kept his grip on the pissed off feline, which was glaring at him mere inches away.

Kiyoshi swallowed audibly and debated which was the wiser course... letting go of the cat for it to potentially attack him, or holding onto the cat for it to potentially attack him. It wasn't as if kitty would do any lasting damage. So since he had been directed to grab the cat, he remained where he was, spread-eagled on his stomach with a hand full of cat, praying for the woman behind him to come reclaim the thing, wishing he could hide himself completely under the mass of tangled-up hair that had escaped from its loose ponytail in his short free-flight.
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
Tavi watched the acrobatics with a stunned fascination. It was like watching a pile up happen right before your eyes; there is nothing you can do to stop it so you just watch it, wide eyed. All in all in was impressive that the guy managed to keep hold of the cat.

She bent down and scooped up the source of all the trouble. "Don't you even think about biting me, you little menace, or I swear I'll eat you for lunch." The cat hissed, she growled. It went still in her arms; deciding, perhaps, that playing rabbit was a wise idea.

Stuffing it back into its carrier, Tavi went back over to the stranger who helped her capture the run away.

"Hey, thanks!" She smiled. "Are you okay?" Tavi turned and glared at the grey cat now licking himself contentedly in his bright purple home. "Mojo is a temporary resident."

Noticing that she had never seen this guy before, she smiled. "Hello, by the way, welcome to Shady Pines. I'm Tavi."
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
Kiyoshi breathed a sigh of relief when the cat was removed from his grasp without further incident. He blinked at the uniquely-colored girl in front of him, admiring the lovely gradient colors in her hair as it turned from aqua to green. As she put the cat away in a purple carrier Kiyoshi got to his feet, retrieved his backpack, and hastened to straighten out the furniture he'd jostled.

"Uh yes. I'm fine, thank you. It was no trouble," he said, glancing up and trying to ignore the fact that he was rearranging the end table he'd ricocheted off of.

He pulled his shirt down, glanced at it, and noted that the cat's hind claws had torn it. He covered the tear with his arm and smiled hesitantly back at the girl. Looking at the purple carrier he murmured,
"That's probably for the best huh."

One cat could sure cause a lot of trouble.

Kiyoshi finally returned her smile in earnest as she introduced herself.
"I'm Kiyo." Then he added one and one up; the bright colors, the name, the age... and realized there was only one Tavi of this description he knew of. "Kiyoshi Salinas. Ma'am."

He hiked his backpack up on his shoulders and said,
"I just arrived."

As if that hadn't been obvious. He sighed at himself.
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
Tavi came over and sat down on the arm of the sofa and listened as the guy explained that he was fine, only minor damage. He was holding his arm in front of his shirt and Tavi wondered how bad the cat had scratched him.

He suddenly became formal and called her ma'am. Tavi hated that; she definitely didn't look old enough to be a ma'am. Sadly thanks to her parents and her own unique appearance she found herself recognized by the R'asa often before she even said a word.

"Well, Sir," She smiled. "What brings you to Nachton?"

She dropped down into the seat and then crossed her legs onto the cushion, patting the next one over.
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
Kiyoshi hastened to sit where Tavi indicated, perching on the edge of the couch and trying to ignore the fact that she seemed to be making fun of his respectful form of address. She didn't seem angry about it, but it hadn't been his intention to irritate her. Maybe she didn't like the formality but surely she expected some sort of deference?

"I'm hoping to find a job here," he explained, "at a new bar that's opening."

Now uncertain as to how to address the daughter of the Sarkis, Kiyo opted to leave it out entirely. It seemed his safest option.

"I can find a place of my own once I'm getting a paycheck but I thought I might be able to stay here. For now."

Camping on the grounds was still an option. Hell if things went south like they were wont to do when Kiyo and his luck were concerned, he might just find a nice unoccupied piece of public land and set himself up there. It wasn't entirely ideal; he did enjoy having the convenience of indoor plumbing and electricity when they were available. He had spent plenty of time without either though, so the prospect didn't upset him.
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
Tavi repressed a sigh when Kiyo hurried to sit down next to her like you would for a teacher or a member of law enforcement. (Unless that member of law enforcement looked like a teenager, in which case it occasionally took verbal threats,a club, and a pair of handcuffs to achieve the same results). She was the last person anyone normally gave respect to; she should probably be grateful for it

Her brows drew together momentarily at the mention of a new bar. She was pretty on top of that kind of scene. New bar...new bar...new... oh. Oh!

"Evan mentioned something about a new place. That bar? I hear him and another guy, one of our own, were going to do something kind of cool on an old airfield around here. Some airport that is too small to handle Nachton's massive transit needs, or some such."

She grinned at Kiyo. "So what are you planning on doing for them?" Tavi knew that Evan wouldn't be opening a strip joint so that occupation was right out. That was too bad; she had a feeling her pack mate would look quite good in less.

Tavi looked around at the common room and then upward at the many rooms above them. She then looked over at her companion. "We've got space. Just pick an unclaimed room. Tobi and I hang out up in Maximum Security. Probably more for my benefit but it wasn't hard to convince him that a padded room was pretty cool." She sighed a bit. "A severe lack of windows...but its like one giant billboard and that's brilliant. Excellent sound proofing also. I can play my music night and day and not bother anyone." She waved a hand in the air, "Course, if you want something less claustrophobic there is that also."

Pulling her knees up to her chest, she rested her chin on them and peered at him with big green eyes. "Why would you need to go elsewhere? You're R'asa. There's always a place for you here." She grinned a bit. "Unless you're into some kinky stuff and feel you need your privacy. That's understandable."
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
Tavi apparently recognized Kiyo's contact here in Nachton. "Evan, yes. That was his name. The bar is on the old airfield, that's right."

He smiled at her, glad she recognized Evan's name. He had been a little bit leery about entering into any kind of business contract with a vampire but Tavi didn't give any indication that this Evan was a bad person despite his race. Well, it wasn't as if he had the job already anyway. He still had to take an interview and, no doubt, give a demonstration.

"I'm planning on interviewing," Kiyoshi said wryly in response to Tavi's question. Then he elaborated further to prevent her to think he was being smart with her. "I can tend bar. Clean tables, serve drinks, if that's what they need."

He was relieved to hear there was space but Tavi hadn't really explained everything.
"Uh, how do I know which rooms are unclaimed?"

The idea of a padded windowless room was not very appealing to him. Kiyoshi loved being outside, and would have at least liked a window even if it didn't open. But beggars couldn't be choosers.

"Wherever you would like to put me will do Ma'... Miss Tavi."

He felt a red flush creeping up his cheeks at her directness. Was there really always a place? Kiyoshi had firsthand evidence that that was not always the case. He was hardly going to argue with the daughter of the Sarkis.

His blush only deepened as Tavi pretended to scrutinize his personal life. He refused to discuss that with anyone, usually. He looked away from her and mumbled,
"No ma'am. Nothing really kinky."

But yes, he dearly wanted... no, needed... privacy.
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
Sadly Kiyoshi's qualifications did not include taking off his clothes and dancing...at least he was not mentioning such skills to her at any rate. She smiled and shrugged. "I'm pretty sure they'll have a need for that kind of thing."

When he asked about which rooms were unclaimed, Tavi hopped up and motioned him to follow her. She headed to the elevator and pressed the up button.

He was kind of cute with the whole 'miss' Tavi thing. She secretly wondered how long it would take before he dropped that without her demanding he just call her by her name. Putting her hands in the pockets of her jeans, she leaned against the wall while the elevator slid down to their floor. "Nothing noteworthy, eh?" Tavi tsk'ed and grinned. "That's such a shame."

Riding up to the first floor of rooms, she walked inside and showed him a clipboard hanging at what used to be the nurses station. Tapping it, Tavi said. "The people on this floor are listed here." She slid her finger across the paper. "along with their room number. So you can tell what's available by what's not on here."

Putting the clipboard back, Tavi hooked her arm through Kiyo's and pulled him along on a little tour. "Plus," Stopping at one of the doors, she pointed to the little clear plastic holder glued to it that used to contain a pull out card with the patient's name printed on it. "most people have their names on the door so that their friends can find them. Its not a full proof method but a descent one. Those people not likely to want people to know which room they are in are also not the type of people to be trusting enough to leave their door unlocked." She shrugged cheerfully. "So a little jiggle and tug on a blank one and you're likely to find it free."

Stopping in the middle of the small common room on this floor, Tavi turned back to him. "At the office, They can get you a key, put your chosen room in the database and also get you a pass card so the guards don't stop you at the gate and demand you do the secret werewolf handshake or something."
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
"I hope so," Kiyoshi replied. "I don't want to count my chickens though. I heard about it from a friend of a friend... you know how it goes."

Maybe she didn't. Tavi didn't look like she spent a lot of time living out of a backpack in the middle of nowhere, without email or a cell phone. Not that Kiyo was complaining. He preferred it that way. It did mean, though, that he lacked up-to-date information sometimes. For all he knew this Evan might have already found what he needed, and if that was the case then Kiyo would either look elsewhere or keep moving.

He would prefer to stay though. For now.

When Tavi motioned to him he stood quickly and followed where she led. He hadn't meant to take away from her time; he had thought maybe she could just point in a general direction. He was glad for the escort though. Kiyo and directions didn't always mix. He wasn't horrible with a map but he swore every once in a while north and south switched places just to mess with him.

When Tavi grinned and continued to muse about his kinky habits Kiyo bit his lip and hooked his hands behind his back, shaking his head. Whether his habits were kinky or not, he wasn't going to discuss them openly with a stranger, even if she was the daughter of the Emilianos.

He accompanied her through the little tour, arm linked with hers, nodding his understanding at everything she said but saying little in response. As they acme to the little living room on the first floor Kiyo looked around.

"Does everyone live all... mixed together?"

Maybe things were different here in Nachton. Down in South America there had been a large distinction between the Paterna and the Peregrinus, although Kiyo recognized that that wasn't always the case. It seemed to depend on the leader of the kumpania.

In the end it didn't matter who his neighbors were, he supposed. There was a lock on his door and he could close himself in whenever he wanted to. It would be nice if he could find someplace out of the way though.

He ducked his head in embarrassment when Tavi mentioned the 'secret werewolf handshake.'

"I did that," he said. "I'd prefer a card." He gave her a little smile and lifted his shoulders.
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
It took her a moment or two to catch on to his meaning when he asked whether everyone just lived all together. Of course the pack lived together; that was the way it always worked. But that was not what Kiyo meant. There were always divisions within the R'asa; smaller circles within the larger ones.

Tavi shrugged. "We do. You're welcome to come live in The Rails with the younger generation." She grinned. "If you can stand the music and the gaming. There are suites there with windows. We don't all have padded cells. Just some of the more dangerously insane." Tavi crossed her eyes and stuck out her tongue at him.

"If you don't feel at home there then there is Samsara. The Jiro started it. Its all inhabited by Peregrinus. I believe its a home away from the rest of us." Tavi smiled and added. "I hear we can be intense sometimes."

Her eyes sparkled mischievously when Kiyo claimed not to want to go through the questioning again at the gate. "Well it won't take much for you to be a card carrying member."

"So is there anywhere you would like to see?"
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
Kiyoshi considered his options. He knew he really should ask her for a room in, what was it called? Samsara. With the rest of his kind. But Tavi seemed so sincere and so friendly. And Kiyoshi wanted to belong. With everyone else, not be set apart or distinguished by what was a mistake.

"Okay," he said somewhat hesitantly. "If there's a room with a window in The Rails maybe that would be nice."

Just for a little while.

Considering Tavi's other question Kiyo shook his head.
"I don't know what there is to see," he said. "I've been here for... fifteen minutes."

He tilted his head at her, noting her mobile expressions and the fact that her cheerfulness didn't seem forced or feigned. He liked that. He smiled back at her with no hesitation this time.
"I guess if you just point me in the direction of something interesting," he said. "I'd like to drop my things off but aside from that I don't have anything to do until I can locate Evan and see about an interview."

He didn't want to impose on Tavi's time. He was sure she had more important things to do than hold his hand and drag him around the R'asa home.
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
Tavi clapped excitedly, hopping in place for a moment when Kiyo said that he would take a room in The Rails. She gave him a big grin and said. "Well then welcome to Shady Pines, Roomie."

When he said he didn't have anything to do, she gave him the follow me gesture and went back out to the elevators. "We have to take two due to our status in the dangerously insane ward."

The lift opened and Tavi stepped inside with him. They went to the top and through a long key pass secured hallway that led to another elevator, operated after using the same key card. Once on the right floor, they passed through the secure gate entrance, this time guarded by a life sized Han Solo.

Turning to her companion, she said. "He's very diligent. We haven't had any trouble with unwanted visitors." Of course it could be the difficulty of access. Still, Tavi tossed a kiss to the smuggler on duty.

Once inside it was fairly easy to see how the place got its name. "This is The Rails." She noticed that someone in the kitchen was sending around the little train with what looked to be drinks, chips and salsa. She stole a chip as it passed by them on its way to the gaming area.

"Lets see, a room with a view..." Tavi walked over to a far corner one along one side. Kiyo seemed kind of shy, perhaps he'd prefer a room with a little less sound and a little more privacy. The far one gave him only one neighbor to worry about. This particular one opened out to a view of their private terrace so at least there was something green to look at; though there was no guaranteeing that he wouldn't occasionally see necking young werewolves. Of course that happened around the campfire all the time so it probably wouldn't be a shock.

"How's this? If you don't like the view or the room we can try one on the other side that looks out toward the front of the property." Tavi turned to see what he thought.
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
It was impossible not to be affected by Tavi's good humor. Kiyoshi smiled back at her, not much of a bouncer himself but amused that she expressed herself that way. "Thank you, Miss Tavi. I won't be a bother."

Kiyo was very quiet. He didn't intend to rock the boat at all. He would be the best roomie he could be.

The ride up to The Rails was interesting in its complexity. Kiyoshi tried to memorize it but he was pretty sure he'd get lost a time or two trying to find his own room. Tavi air-kissed Han Solo and Kiyo blinked at her, then shrugged and blew a kiss to him too. Who didn't get a kick out of Harrison Ford?

He had to admit the decor inside this wing was cool. He liked the rails, obviously there in honor of the name of the wing, or perhaps it was the other way around. He looked down at the train before walking right into it, boggling for a second as Tavi snatched a chip and munched on it.
"Huh," was all he said.

As she led him to a presumably empty room, Kiyoshi peered inside of it. It was small, rectangular, cell-shaped. It reminded him of a dorm room, large enough for a bed, a dresser, and a chair in the corner. Kiyoshi didn't need anything larger. There was a window on the far wall that looked out into the dark but was currently dimly lit by something outside.

Tavi asked his opinion and he turned to her with a nod and another soft smile.
"It's just fine," he said, pleased to be located at the end of the hallway where it was bound to be quieter. Remembering his manners he added, "Thank you. I appreciate it. Do I sign it out with someone?"
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
Tavi laughed when Kiyo also blew a kiss to Han Solo as well. She looked back at him and smiled. "He's a favorite. Superman is just a little too goody goody for me."

She doubted that he would be a bother just as he said. He seemed the most quiet werewolf she had ever met. Tavi doubted that anyone would have a problem with Kiyo and she'd quietly make sure they didn't give him any problems. Busting a few heads in the name of family harmony was perfectly acceptable in her mind, and sometimes fun.

When he asked what was necessary for signing the room out, Tavi motioned to the bed. "Go ahead and put your bag down if you like and we can get to it."

Tavi went back to the front, opened to the door and entered the cage with Han. Pulling out the chair that the cut out was obviously not using, she sat down at the computer. Clicking on the files for The Rails, Tavi added Kiyo's name to the spread sheet and then printed out a new one on the regular printer. Then she used the special card machine to encode a pass key for him.

Once she was done, Tavi hopped out of the chair. "Tell the Princess not to be jealous of our time together." She told their guard as she left. Tavi handed over the pass key with the owl eye on it to Kiyo. It had a hole in one corner so that it could either be put on a key chain or a pull cord.

She took off the old paper on their clipboard and replaced it with the updated version.

"The key will get you up the elevator, through the main locks and is also keyed to your room." Tavi pointed to the train. "It will take a little longer to get you a personalized tray for the train but I can see to it tomorrow. Just takes the stencils and some paint."
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
Kiyoshi flashed a quick grin at Tavi. "It's the underwear thing," he said softly. "Anyone wearing it on the outside is clearly a little too deranged to be hot."

Kiyo did as he was instructed, laying his backpack on the bed and rejoining Tavi. He followed her back out to Harrison and waited while she entered him into the computer and then handed him his pass key. He looked down at it, raising his eyebrows as he realized what it was. He held it up questioningly.

"Isn't this... well, inauspicious for your home?"

The owl's eye was not typically a sign one wanted to associate with home and security. Trying to hide the look of slight alarm on his face he wondered if he could reconsider his housing choice without looking odd or ungrateful.

Deciding that it wasn't possible he uttered a small sigh and tucked the owl key card out of sight. He had chosen to stay here; he wasn't going to change his mind. It may have been the wrong choice but he would deal with the consequences.

"I guess all I have to do is find this Evan person, and I'll have done pretty much everything I came here to do. Not a very long list but at least it's almost done."

He smiled at Tavi again.
"I really do appreciate your help."

Kiyo wasn't sure if she had meant to remain in his company; he couldn't see why that would be the case so he gave her an opening if she wanted it. Tavi could easily make her escape now. Being who he was, he left the decision up to her.
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
Tavi laughed at the comment about the underwear. Kiyo did have a good point there; at what point does a person decide that wearing tights, underwear and a cape is good fashion sense?

She looked down at the card and then back up at her new neighbor. "Well, that was kind of the point. It is a warning to the killjoys of the pack to stay out of our area." Tavi winked at him. "I can put another graphic on there if you like. Thanks to Tobi we make all the keys for the facility." She knew her father had some horror film graphic that obviously came from her brother's collection of images. Tavi was not sure what her mother had since she tried to avoid the Savia whenever possible.

"When are you supposed to go and interview?" The new club must be close to opening if they are now hiring. Tavi briefly considered a part time job but decided that between her work, her hobbies and her efforts for the pack, there would be no time for anything else.

She smiled at Kiyo when he thank her. "Its no problem. You're much better company than the dust mop downstairs." Which reminded her that she should probably move Mo to her own room so that someone didn't mess with him. Though the carrier should make it clear he's not a snack, Tavi thought it would be best not to take any chances.
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
Kiyoshi bit his lip and looked down at the key card. He wasn't sure about warning people off by using the eye... he didn't want to jinx his new home. Waffling over it a moment, he was torn between his superstitious nature and his fear that asking for a new picture would immediately ostracize him. But in the end, he figured he'd jinx himself by keeping it an end up an outcast anyhow so he handed the key back to Tavi. He winced a little and said, "Do you mind? If it's not too much trouble?"

Inwardly he continued to cringe. Nothing like setting yourself apart immediately, Kiyoshi. He drew a circle on the floor with the toe of his shoe, looking away when Tavi asked about his interview the way a submissive wolf would. He couldn't help it, it was natural for him. He wasn't sure if he had been this way before his Gifting. It had happened too long ago for him to remember.

"I'll head over there a little later tonight," Kiyoshi said, without directly answering Tavi's question. He wasn't always the most forthcoming, open person. He wasn't trying to be rude; he was just uncertain. The truth was he didn't really have an interview. He had an acquaintance who knew someone who was familiar with Evan and knew he was opening a bar... in short, Kiyoshi wasn't even sure he'd be able to find a job there. He was hoping, and that was about all.

He laughed softly, a little wryly, when he was compared to the 'dust mop' and found to be relatively tolerable in comparison.
"Well thanks," he said, one side of his mouth turning up ironically. "I guess that's something."

Then he realized it sounded like he might be criticizing.
"I mean, there are worse things to be compared to. And those, I might come up lacking." He flashed Tavi a quick grin. In Kiyoshi's opinion, the list was probably pretty long there.
Octavia Emiliano 13 years ago
Tavi considered what to put on a new key as she took the old one from Kiyo. The evil in her suggested a very cute little kitten, who could possibly find that offensive? It would even be a token of how they met. However, the poor man did have to use the thing and someone was bound to notice. Accessing her own computer, Tavi rifled through her image files for something that reminded her of hearth and home. She found a photo she had taken at dusk at a campsite in Spain. It had a couple of the colourful wagons in the center, the beautiful countryside in colours of deepening purple in the background and the bright orange of the campfire, glowing warmly in the foreground. It was still what she thought of when the idea of home came to mind. Hopefully he would like it better.

She made a new key and handed it to him. "How about this one?"

He didn't seem to have a particular time to be at the airfield. She guessed then that he didn't have a formal interview. "Well, if you want company, then let me know." Tavi was curious about what they were doing to the place. She had been there once or twice before to help out with a few make overs or to get some information from some of the newly relocated people that Evan and his partner brought to Nachton but she had not been by lately, not since they decided to open a club.

Tavi laughed and nodded. Yes, being better company than the dust mop was something. Maybe it was not anything to be proud of but at least it was better than it could be. "Don't be silly. You've been great company. I look forward to see you around here."

((OOC: Feel free to out them both if you like and its convenient. ))
Kiyoshi Salinas 13 years ago
Kiyoshi took the new card from Tavi with a smile and a soft thank you and looked down at the campfire scene upon it. "Oh, that's pretty." He liked this picture much better. He loved flickering flames; they were always relaxing and cheerful. He smiled at the picture and smoothed his thumb over it appreciatively.

He looked up in surprise when Tavi expressed some interest in coming along with him. Did he look that petrified? Kiyoshi didn't like interviews. They were designed to give the job seeker an opportunity to sell him or herself, and Kiyo was historically very bad at that. How was he supposed to give an impression of being of some worth to an employer when he was hardly of any worth to himself?

No matter how much he feared knocking on a stranger's door to ask about a job, though, Kiyo couldn't bring himself to overcome his natural anti-social nature by accepting Tavi's offer. He smiled apologetically at her and shrugged his shoulder, giving the smallest shake of his head.
"I think I'm all right. But thank you. Maybe... another time."

He surprised himself by meaning that. Tavi seemed very nice. She wasn't at all what he'd expected from the 'black sheep' daughter of the Sarkis and Savia. But then, Kiyo was sure people said all kinds of things about him that were untrue too. He berated himself for making assumptions.

"Thank you for all your help Miss Tavi," he said when it was clear he was being dismissed. Kiyoshi offered Tavi another tentative smile. "Well. If you need a cat wrangler... you know where I'll be."

He flashed her a genuine grin, gone just as soon as it appeared, and turned to leave. Heading out the doors with his key he turned the wrong way, proceeded a few steps in that direction, then turned himself around and eventually managed to find his new room again after one or two trips around the square of rooms. He let himself in, shut the door softly, considered it a moment, and then very delicately locked it as if afraid someone outside would hear him locking them out.

((ooc: Kiyoshi and Tavi out))
