Wild Side (attn: Evan)

It was a clear, cool night. A little warmer than was seasonal for this time of year in Nachton, or so Evan had told him. Kiyoshi had walked into the Park and Preserve with his partner, waiting until they were out of sight of the parking lot before slipping his hand into Evan's and gripping it tightly. He was shaking with fear, with nerves, with tension. He'd told Evan he'd do this with him though. He would try being a wolf some night, running with Evan without the influence of the full moon.

Never in his forty years had Kiyo willingly embraced his wolf. The only time had been at his arrival at Shady Pines when he'd been required to prove himself. It had been difficult then; he didn't know how he'd do it now.

"Evan," he said, stopping shortly and tugging on the vampire's hand to bring him to a halt. He looked up at his partner fearfully. "I don't know about this."

Kiyoshi hated being a wolf. Everything it was, he abhorred. Everything it meant was against his desires. He didn't want to do this... and yet, he wanted to because he wanted to share himself with Evan. Evan wanted to know and Kiyo did want to let Evan know all of him... scared as he was to show his partner the bad parts. Evan had never judged him, not once. Kiyoshi had no reason to think he would do so now, when he hesitated to embrace this move tonight.

"I mean I... I want to. I want you to know. But I..." he stammered, unable to speak smoothly. "I'm just not good at this. I've never done this before."

He realized he was gripping Evan's hand far too hard and forced himself to let up a little bit.

"I don't know if I can," he said. "It's not as easy as... I mean when you do it it looks simple. And it doesn't look like it hurts."

Kiyoshi knew that those who embraced the Change eventually learned to make it much smoother, perhaps not painless, but certainly a lot more comfortable. As one who had never let it happen willingly though, Kiyo had yet to experience a Change that wasn't excruciating. Just the thought of it had him breaking out in a cold sweat.

"Promise me you won't watch," he said shakily. He was terrified of people looking at him when he Changed. "Please? Maybe another time but... please not tonight. You won't like it."

He had explained to Evan how he'd first turned into a wolf... in the middle of a crowd of onlookers, in the midst of his family, in his own mother's arms. It had left its mark. More than anything he feared Changing in front of people. Yes, he knew Evan wouldn't judge. He knew Evan wouldn't hold anything against him, but just doing this tonight was a huge step for Kiyo. In what direction he wasn't sure.

"I'm sorry," he said, apologizing pre-emptively. "I don't want to hurt you. It's just... I, uh, I'm..." he bit his lip and looked down. "I'm just afraid."

Evan looked down at Kiyoshi and smiled. "I think we can manage some place warmer." He didn't want to disentangle himself from his companion so he reached down and used the disenfectant wipes that he had bought to clean up most of the blood from his hands and arms. After that was done, Evan returned the embrace. "I wouldn't forgive myself if I let my warm blooded Little Wolf freeze to death."

He looked up and raised his eyebrows at Kiyo when his partner thanked him. "I should thank you. You are the one who did something very difficult tonight." Evan squeezed Kiyo tighter. "You let me see a private part of yourself, one that you aren't very happy with. That is very brave." He kissed his lover on the forehead, in a 'don't be silly, you are amazing' gesture. Evan felt that Kiyoshi sold himself short so often. He would just have to keep telling the werewolf how wonderful he really was until he believed it...and then tell him some more.

Kiyo's kiss was timid; Evan pulled his partner closer and kissed him again. This one was not timid; he put his feelings into it, wanting Kiyo to know how he felt about him, every side of him. He was not sure what Kiyo might be worried about now but he figured that it was something. Kiyoshi was a quiet person but when they were alone he was becoming more comfortable and expressive. "If we keep doing this you might not make it home to that nice warm bed." Evan smiled. "I'm just warning you."

Snuggling Kiyoshi close, he thought about what he wanted and what was best for his partner. It was not terribly cold to him and if they were to say...engage in some vigorous activity then he would be fine, even naked. His lover could shiver under three blankets and Kiyo had already been out here naked kneeling on the cold ground. It made the decision very easy. Evan scooped Kiyoshi up into his arms. "Grab the bags. Let's go find your shoes so we can go home." Carrying Kiyoshi in his arms for several miles would be no burden, no burden at all.

Snuggled against Evan's warm body Kiyo did not feel very brave. Or very wolf-like. He relaxed against that warm embrace; Evan was like having his own personal space-heater. He always seemed warm. Kiyo wondered if it was just overflow from his personality; that was friendly and warm too. Maybe it just permeated him. Either way it made Kiyo not want to let go. He could gladly live in such warmth.

When Evan returned Kiyoshi's hesitant kiss with a much deeper one Kiyo was caught slightly off guard but pleasantly so. He moaned softly, tightening his arms around Evan, his small hands splaying over the lean muscle of his partner's back. He pressed himself down in Evan's lap, writhing against him in pleasure.

"That's okay," he said a little breathlessly when Evan warned him they might not end up at home. Kiyo would prefer it there but he also thought the idea of Evan lying him down in the forest on a bed of leaves and pine needles was kind of hot. He kissed Evan again, letting him know in no uncertain terms that if that was what he wanted, Kiyo wasn't about to hesitate.

Their course was decided though and Kiyo nodded at Evan even as he was gathered up close. He managed to pick up all of the bags, putting them into the larger bags. He couldn't complain about the quantity of meat left over... this would indeed feed him for a week. Or most of a week. Maybe Tavi would like to share some of it with him, if Evan didn't mind... it was their kill after all.

For now, though, he was thinking mostly of being there with Evan and of what they'd shared tonight. He wasn't sure how soon he would want to repeat it. Or if he really wanted to repeat it. It felt good that Evan had been there with him though, to share it with Kiyo.

"You don't have to carry me. I can walk," he said softly, blushing a little when it seemed clear that that was Evan's intent. Truth be told he liked being wrapped up in Evan's arms and with no one around to witness it he didn't mind being carried like this. Evan had done so much work already tonight, though, Kiyo had felt a little like dead weight and was now truly dead weight in his lover's arms. That was hardly fair.

"I know you can walk but you don't have to." Evan smiled at Kiyo and kept going. "You don't have any shoes on and I do." He tilted over Kiyo and looked down at them just to show that there was evidence. Shoes, yes. He looked at Kiyoshi and pouted slightly. "But I can put you down if you don't want to be held. That's fine." Evan made no move to do so.

It seemed to take no time at all to walk back to the clearing where they started the night's adventure. He enjoyed every second of it. Evan loved nature best when there was someone to share it with. It was peaceful, the air was still crisp and cleaner than the rest of Nachton, Kiyo was warm in his arms. Life was good.

They made it back home and placed the meat into the freezer. Evan wrote Kiyoshi's name in big letters on the labels of the bags. They did now have two people in the house that ate actual food on a regular basis. He doubted Guillaume would eat any without asking but he wanted Kiyoshi to know that it was safe there; no one would touch it without his prior approval.

Packing that away left them free to strip away dirty, bloody clothes and take a nice warm, very long shower. They then hurried from the bath to bedroom, quickly snuggling cozily under the blankets. For the rest of the evening there was a very different kind of companionship involved; though, at times, one might wonder if there were two wild animals in the room. Thankfully it was one of those nights when there was no one around to hear them.
