The Major Reason For the Minor Key (invite only)
Josh could not get himself off the minor keys. He often played with emotion - it was the only way to perform and the only way he really knew how to express himself. He sat at his piano now, melody after melody rippling through the open space of his penthouse but nothing joyful or bright. Some of it was original, some of it wasn't. It was all rather sad, a little depressing.
He and Mel had been gone for a few days helping with a small project. Aidan Xephier's Kadzait were slowly following their Alpha's example and starting to move in closer to cities and towns. Not far away in North Caroilna, the Pack local to Raleigh had been butting up against a few issues integrating themselves into the society there. Joshua and Mel had gone to give advice, guidance, and direction. How to cope with city life during the full moon, how and where to make themselves safe. Mel had worked with the Amaroq and Joshua with the Illamar so both halves of the coin knew how best to support each other.
It had been an exhausting process but they had left after the first night of the full moon, after the Pack had had a good experience and seemed capable of handling it. They could, of course, contact Josh or Mel at any time but Josh thought they would be just fine after a few nudges in the right direction.
He'd missed Gris every moment he'd been away and as soon as they'd gotten home the following evening Josh had called his boyfriend. They'd talked while he'd been away of course, but there was no substitute for the real thing and Josh had very badly wanted to hold and be held, to release the stress of the trip with a night of the ardent lovemaking they were so capable of.
It was not to be; Gris was apparently swamped with work. Disappointed, Josh reconciled himself to a night alone in a cold bed. Gris's regret had been obvious though and Josh was comforted by the knowledge that he'd been missed.
He rose early the next morning, restless. He hadn't had much opportunity to work out while in North Carolina so he decided to take a longer run than usual. The streets he lived on were very busy and the indoor gym held little appeal. So Josh headed out to the Park and Preserve for a nice long run in the woods. After that he'd call Gris again, but if his partner was at home and getting a chance to sleep in Josh wasn't going to wake him up this early. He might even have slept at the office. As he stretched and warmed up Josh considered having a key made for Gris. He'd rather be woken up at 3 am by a sleepy blond than spend the night alone like that.
These pleasant thoughts were the ones that kept him company while he jogged, enjoying the smell of the cool air and the brisk breeze that blew by. It was an unremarkable workout right up until the end. He had taken a side trail that he didn't often run on because it wasn't as well-groomed as the rest. As he'd emerged from the end of the trail he'd caught a glimpse of color.
Almost blushing, Josh realized he'd almost stumbled on a naked man. Or, partially naked. He was pulling a shirt on over his head, holding his arms around himself and rubbing in a gesture that seemed familiar. Pausing, Josh peered at the man to get a better look, then slid behind a tree as he turned - but not before he got a good look at the man's profile. Even from a distance he recognized it.
It was Kiyoshi, Evan's boyfriend. But what was he doing outside in the woods this morning? With his shirt off? Working out as well, perhaps. The smaller man obviously had some muscle to him, even as lean as he was. Josh wasn't the only one drawn to the outdoors to keep himself fit. He thought he might go say hello to Gris's shy friend. Stepping out from behind the tree once more he stopped again.
Kiyoshi was being embraced by a pair of arms that were definitely not Evan's. Evan was tan; these arms were fair. Oh God, was Kiyoshi cheating on Evan? Infidelity was a subject Josh was very sensitive to. Having been cheated on before, he had no respect for it. It was a cruel thing to do to someone. Kiyoshi had seemed so happy with Evan. What inspired such a thing?
Did he tell Evan? Maybe he should mention it to Gris. Perhaps his partner knew something he didn't. Josh didn't want to get involved, not really, but Evan was a good person. He deserved to know. Josh would have wanted to know beforehand.
He caught himself staring once again as the man bending over Kiyo, rubbing his back, straightened. Josh's heart lodged in between his ribs as the early morning sunlight glinted off a head of disheveled blond curls. His fingers twitched involuntarily. No way was this happening. That couldn't be.
But Gris's face was unmistakable as he raised it and laughed at something Kiyoshi said. Appalled, Josh took a few very slow, subtle steps back down the trail the way he'd come from. Yes, he was pretty far away. But no... there was no way he could have mistaken Gris or Kiyo from here.
He wanted to vomit. Or scream. Or punch something in frustration. He thought his heart might be ripping in two. Gris was his. His boyfriend. His partner. He'd promised to try. Maybe trying wasn't enough. Josh should have known what would happen... Gris was young, active, gorgeous, and had the libido of a teenager. Josh couldn't possibly satisfy him for long.
He'd done none of the things he'd wanted to... he had just run back down the trail, quickly, his mind whirling.
And found himself here, in his apartment, playing depressing piano solos and not knowing what to do. Feeling like an idiot. Humiliated. Angry. Well, he thought, his fingers caressing the keys softly, he'd thought it to himself - he'd want to know. But knowing wasn't so easy anymore.
He cared for Gris more than he thought. Confrontation would make things ugly. He didn't want their relationship to end. But wasn't it already over? Josh wasn't willing to share. He had made that obvious, and Gris had apparently made his choice. But damn it... he had believed him when he'd said he wanted it to work. Josh had believed every word. Would swear to it now, that Gris had meant it.
Why was he so gullible?
To further his good spirits, Josh was back in town. Gris had to go to work today but he wanted to stop by and see Josh, even for a brief visit before heading to his office.
Full moon nights always meant a hard day of trying to stay awake the next day. Luckily he made his own schedule these days, at least to a certain degree, and he could make them lighter around this time. He would lock his door and sneak in a small nap on his very comfy sofa at work.
But for now coffee would be holding him up. He had already drank one cup and now held a travel tray with two tall coffees and a couple of bagels.
Approaching Josh's door, Gris could just make out the sounds of music being played inside. He listened for a moment or two before knocking.
When the door opened he smiled cheerfully at his partner. "Good morning, Darling. I brought a bit of breakfast.†Gris leaned forward and placed a light kiss on Josh's lips before sliding past his boyfriend and into the room.
He opened the door and there was Gris, looking beautiful with a big smile on his handsome face. Josh returned the soft kiss, wondering briefly if Gris would taste, feel, or smell any different. He didn't. He was the same wonderful Gris. His Gris, damn it.
He turned as Gris passed him and followed him to the dining table. As his partner placed his tray on the table Josh wrapped his arms around Gris's waist.
"Thank you. Breakfast sounds great," he said, warmth coloring his words while he wondered how he could be so casual after what he'd seen.
He turned Gris in his arms and pulled him tight, drawing him right up against him and leaning in for a kiss. He'd meant it to be tender and gentle but it was not. It was aggressive, fierce, deep. Gris was his. Josh would fight to keep this man by his side.
He did his best to imprint himself upon his partner, to drive away all images of Kiyoshi. Did Gris find him undesirable now, after having been loved this morning? Josh deepened his kiss, doing his best to overwhelm Gris, his hands slipping beneath his coat to gently caress his back.
His. Gris.
"Did you miss me?" he murmured into Gris's ear when he broke away. He asked his question and then, while waiting for an answer, gently nibbled and sucked his way down Gris's neck.
He moaned softly, unable to do much more as he pulled tightly against Josh's firm body. Gris wrapped his arms around his boyfriend's broad shoulders, one hand sliding up to push into the short strands of dark hair.
Returning the fierce kiss with equal ardor, Gris tilted his hips, making his body's response to Josh's greeting very apparent. Hands were sliding beneath his coat, he released his lover with one arm at a time so that he could shrug the garment off. He had missed Joshua, more than he could say. Of course Josh was making it impossible to say anything at the moment.
A dry laugh and another moan escaped him at Josh's eventual question. "Yes. How could I not miss you?†Gris leaned back and felt the table behind him. He slid up onto it and pulled Josh tight against him once more. Wrapping long legs around his boyfriend, Gris smiled. "Did you think I wouldn't?â€
His hands made their way beneath Josh's shirt and he smiled crookedly up at his partner, a hint of mischief sparkling in his eyes. "I can show you, if you like.â€
Josh was glad for his self-control. It made it possible for him to stop and assess instead of going off half-cocked making accusations against Gris. Had he really seen what he'd thought he'd seen? His eyes couldn't lie to him! Kiyoshi and Gris, in the woods, Gris's arms around Kiyoshi. And yet here was Gris now, kissing Josh back with such fervor Josh would never have believed Gris had been with someone else if he hadn't witnessed it.
And in Gris's defense, he had never claimed to be an adulterer. By his lover's own admission he had moved freely from relationship to relationship, never committing and therefore never cheating. Josh had no reason to believe Gris was unfaithful... except, his mind kept nagging him, for what he'd seen.
Josh groaned, the noise born of desire and frustration. Gris said he'd missed him and asked if Josh had thought he wouldn't. Josh shook his head. No, at the time he'd left he had believed Gris would miss him. Hell, even now Gris's behavior was enough to make Josh question what he'd seen.
Gris's hands slipped beneath Josh's shirt as he sat on the table and wrapped his legs around Josh's waist. Josh pulled Gris close, working the buttons of Gris's dress shirt free, loving the feel of his partner against him.
"Show me, then," he said, unable to resist the light in Gris's eyes. How could you fake that?
"You were all I thought of while I was away," Josh murmured softly. "Your eyes, your smile. This," he demonstrated, letting one hand slide along Gris's thigh.
He wanted to ask questions. He wanted to, he knew he should. He shouldn't let this continue if it wasn't true but it felt so right. And with Gris so close and so willing desire was riding in the driver's seat. Logic and questions were going to have to wait.
His boyfriend explained what he had been thinking about, his eyes, his smile and the implied other things. Gris raised his eyebrows and rocked his hips in response to that sensual touch. Suit pants, even made of winter weight wool, weren't very thick. Still he wanted to feel Josh's hands on his skin.
Josh wanted to be shown how much he was missed. He had no problem doing that; he wouldn't have had before walking in the door this morning and he had even less difficulty after encountering such an enthusiastic response from his arrival.
Gris considered, very briefly, his options. Releasing Josh, he slid off the table. His desire for his partner was immediate and demanding, he didn't want to pause for long. Sure the bedroom would be more comfortable but they could be comfortable later. He reached over and placed the tray with the food and drink down onto the seat of chair.
Unbuckling his belt, he let his pants and boxers drop to the floor. Gesturing at his rock hard erection, he tilted his glance up just enough to look at Josh, his eyes going from himself to his lover.
"Proof enough?â€
Kicking off shoes, he stepped out of his pants and then knelt on the floor. Josh had asked for him to show him. The evidence might speak for itself but Gris didn't do anything halfway. He did his best to make quick work of Josh's pants, his hands clumsy with impatient desire. "I thought about you so often that a judge caught me daydreaming.†He sighed softly, his face flushing a bit with remembered embarrassment. "I never do that...†Except lately. "To be fair, I think about you even when you are here.†Gris murmured softly; his ability to concentrate on his job had been seriously impaired by meeting Josh but he would just have to work harder because he wasn't giving up his gift from the heavens.
Finally able to touch Josh the way he wanted to, Gris slid long fingers down the silky smooth skin of his lover's cock. He made a low sound of barely restrained desire and pressed his lips to the velvety tip. "Mmmm...†A few caresses more were all he managed before he gave in to temptation and opened his mouth to admit his lover. Josh wanted to know how much he was missed and he definitely wanted to show him.
Those thoughts, though, were put on the back burner as Gris asked him if what Josh saw was proof enough, then admitted in a soft voice, and with a pleasing little blush, that Josh had been on his mind at inappropriate times. Josh moved closer and gently ran his finger lightly down his partner's erect length but went no further, letting Gris have his way.
And his way was sinfully delicious. Josh watched, outwardly calm, as his partner knelt before him. Then Gris's lips were upon him and Josh's whole body melted toward him. His eyelids fluttered closed briefly and he moaned softly. Then he felt the warm wetness of Gris's mouth around him and his knees nearly buckled.
Josh reached down and stroked his hand into Gris's blond curls, cradling his boyfriend's head gently, not pulling or demanding. Looking down he watched Gris's every movement, entranced at the sight of those freshly-kissed lips around him, his cock disappearing into Gris's mouth.
"God. Gris..." Josh found himself short of breath. What Gris was doing was wonderful. It was ecstasy. This could not end, was all Josh could manage to think of. It was so right.
He could love Gris so very easily. It wouldn't be a stretch. The word felt right when he paired it with the man he was with now. It wasn't just lust, it wasn't just physical pleasure. He had missed Gris's company while he'd been away. His laughter, his charm and his quick wit. Yes, he wanted Gris to need him but Josh was very much afraid he needed Gris more. He brought laughter and joy with him wherever he went and Josh wanted to keep him close.
He closed his eyes again and succumbed to the heat coiling within him, the tingling rush of pleasure his partner was creating. He growled softly under his breath, his hand tightening in Gris's hair briefly.
He said nothing more - he'd told Gris to show him how much he missed him. But soon, either now, or before he let Gris walk out this door, he was going to show Gris too. To take him gently, to fill him, to hold his body close and stroke him until he came. Until he convinced him that he was truly there and that he was all Gris needed.
Gris might be late for work.
Josh's words caused him to glance upward. He hummed softly in approval of the explicative and then went back to enjoying the taste and feel of his lover.
However, he had missed more than this part of Josh. He wanted to feel Josh's arms around him and to hear his lover's beautiful accent thicken as he grew more passionate. He wanted Josh to take him and remind him of that first date in the dark and every date since. Every time he was with Josh he felt treasured and cared for.
Gris sat back and looked up again. Standing, he pressed himself back against the table, sliding part of the way onto it.
"I missed you. I want you.†Gris held out an arm for Josh and leaned back onto the other one. He parted his legs and regarded his boyfriend with all the naked desire inside him plainly expressed on his face. Sometimes the wolf was evident even in human form and right now he was hungry, for Josh.
Too hungry to finish what he started, too hungry to find a more suitable surface, too hungry to finish taking off his clothes. "Right now.†Perhaps he was a bit of masochist but the small bit of pain that Josh might cause him was welcomed. It was minor, so minor that his body wouldn't automatically heal it. He welcomed being a bit sore later; it would remind him the rest of the day that he had been loved fiercely, possessively on a table by a man who wanted him so much that he didn't want to wait until they moved elsewhere.
Closing his eyes and waiting for Josh to come to him, Gris smiled. "And maybe you can show me some of what you were thinking about while you were away.â€
Now, however, Gris clearly desired something he could readily supply. Josh moaned in disappointment as Gris pulled away but his partner made his immediate wants very, very clear and Josh was well past the point of reason. He'd spent the morning frustrated, stressed out, upset, angry, lonely, humiliated... all of it went by the wayside when he saw Gris offering himself, hunger and need plain on his features.
He offered his boyfriend a soft smile. "Look in the mirror. That's what I was thinking about while I was away."
He closed the small space between them, determined not to waste this opportunity. He took Gris into his arms, slid him carefully to the end of the table, glad that it was a sturdy one, and reached down between them. He'd wanted to love Gris gently but gently was not in the cards at the moment. He guided himself to Gris's opening and pushed in, not intentionally rough but in this manner, well, there was a certain amount of resistance involved. He made it as easy as he could, but still thrust himself into Gris's warm entrance as quickly as he could manage, burying himself inside with a choked back cry of need.
Josh leaned forward, still holding Gris tightly, and kissed his lover thoroughly. With his tongue and teeth he claimed Gris as his; with his entire length speared into his partner's body he joined them together. Pulling back he thrust himself in again, not bothering to hold back the sound of ecstasy that passed his lips this time. Steadying Gris with both hands Josh surged into him again and again, the pressure building inside of him.
"I told you I'd always come back," he murmured against Gris's lips as he moved within him. "And now I'm here and you're home with me, where you belong."
He had also told Gris he wanted to be home for him, and he still desired that. Gris was part of his life now, and Josh wanted him to remain there. Reaching down, he retraced the length of Gris's cock with his fingertip as he had done before, only this time he grasped his partner firmly and stroked with his hand as he pushed himself in once more.
Josh groaned and closed his eyes, amazed that even now in these circumstances Gris could take all of him. "This is where I belong too," he breathed. The hand that was not busy stroking his partner tightened around him like a band. "Hold on tight," he said. "I want to feel your arms around me."
He loved Gris's embrace, that passion and that strength. Loved pushing him to the point that Gris actually worried about hurting him. As Josh was thrusting into him with almost wild abandon now, he wanted the bite of Gris's fingernails in his back. The slight bruises from that iron, unregulated grip. He held his own climax at bay although he still stroked relentlessly, driving Gris toward orgasm with his hand as well as the rock hard length buried inside of him. When he felt it, when he felt Gris clinging to him, clenching around him, completely lost in his own release, completely overwhelmed by sensation, then Josh would join him. But not a moment before.
The sound Josh made and the feel of those strong arms around him more than made up for any pain he had felt. Gris rocked his hips against Josh, encouraging more, wanting everything his partner had to give. He melted into his lover's fierce kiss, inviting it and more just as he had with the rest of his body. Josh was welcome to every bit of him that he wanted. All of him.
Leaning back onto both hands, Gris pushed himself against Josh, crying out in pleasure as his lover thrust deeply into him again and again. He didn't want the experience to end and yet he didn't want to slow down either.
He glanced up at Josh a little puzzled when he mentioned an earlier conversation. Gris nodded; he never doubted his boyfriend would come back. Josh had only been gone a few days this time and even so Gris wouldn't have thought he was running away. Maybe he thought that Gris had been worried while he had been gone and wanted to reassure him. Still whatever was on Josh's mind, Gris agreed with his statement. "Yes, I'm here.†He hugged Josh close and kissed his jaw and moved up to his ear where he could murmur softly. "Everything is better now.â€
Gasping as Josh curled his hand around his erection, Gris ceased any further discussion. It would wait until they were done. He nodded when Josh said that this was also where he belonged. Gris hissed out a 'Yes' in between gasps of pleasure.
He did as Josh requested and wrapped his arms tightly around his lover. The pace was driving him straight toward climax with startling speed. There was no point in trying to stop it and he wouldn't even if he could. Josh was controlling the speed and it was obvious that he wasn't intending to slow down. Gris held onto his boyfriend in a fierce grip, crying out Josh's name as he came. He let himself go completely, moaning with ecstatic abandon as the waves of pleasure consumed him and left him shuddering in his lover's arms.
"That was perfect.†He sighed softly after the tremors of ecstasy subsided. "I needed that.†Gris stroked his fingers back and forth in Josh's short hair. "I missed you so much. I'm glad you're home.†He laid his cheek on his boyfriend's shoulder and sighed contentedly. Who needed a bed? If Josh continued to hold him then Gris was content right where they were.
Gris's arms held on, as Josh had wanted, in a near-bruising grip as Josh took them both to the peak of ecstasy and then over. And it was Josh's name upon Gris's lips. That only made it sweeter as he thrust deeply into his partner and came, feeling Gris's seed hot in his hand at the same time, hearing Gris's cries of satisfaction and both envying and enjoying that total abandon with which Gris always loved him.
His chest was heaving as the flashes of blinding white perfection faded from his eyes and he saw Gris, disheveled, happy, smiling at him. "Mmm," he agreed, a sated smile spreading across his lips, a smile that seemed to emerge only for Gris. "I missed you too, sweetheart. I'm happy to be back."
He carefully eased himself out and then gathered Gris close once more, humming contentedly at the feel of those soft blond curls against his shoulder. "Did I hurt you too much? I'm sorry. I should have waited."
But Gris had been so wonderfully demanding, so alluring, so gorgeous in the offering of his body and heart. Josh couldn't have resisted. Anything his partner wanted, he would do his best to arrange for him. He wanted to keep Gris happy, for it meant the world to him to please his boyfriend.
"Come, Geliebter. Let's get cleaned up."
He took Gris into his arms, lifting him easily. He didn't say as much but he did very much hope Gris had some extra time. Having him quickly on the table satisfied his need, but not his desire. He wanted to spend a little time with him, linger a bit over their coffee, kiss him slowly.
Coffee... which was getting cold. He bent and kissed Gris softly on his temple. "Let's bring our breakfast with us, hmm? We can worry about the rest in a little while. You are going to come back here after work, yes?"
As he spoke he carried Gris upstairs to his bedroom. Their bedroom, really, as he had shared it with Gris by now more often than he'd used it alone. He paused so Gris could place the travel tray on the dresser and then continued into the bathroom. Cleanup could be an incredibly pleasant process and he certainly intended to treat Gris to as much pleasure as possible, be it a hug, a kiss, a massage (although Gris was better at giving those by far - Josh still did his best), or anything else that suited his partner's fancy.
Yes, he was still concerned about what he'd seen this morning but he had to have jumped the gun. Perhaps he would ask later what had happened between Gris and Kiyo but for now he was entirely convinced that it couldn't possibly have been of a sexual nature.
When Josh asked if he had hurt him, Gris shook his head slightly, still resting comfortably against his partner's shoulder. "No, I am fine." He smiled softly. "Being a little sore will remind me of this through the rest of the day." Gris leaned back and looked at Josh. "I asked for it." Practically demanded it. "I wanted you and I certainly don't regret that. Don't worry. " He loved that Josh had done as he asked and loved that Josh was still worried about it; that he cared enough to wonder whether their heat of the moment decision had been the wrong one or that Gris might be hurt more than he thought while they were in the midst of passion.
He was picked up and then brought to the coffee and bagels. Gris reached down for them and cradled the tray to his chest. He secretly loved being carried by Josh. His human boyfriend was strong enough to hold him up and that wasn't easy. He didn't have a very large frame but he wasn't tiny. It made him feel loved and protected to be cradled close.
Feeling somewhat pampered by Josh's loving attention to his every need, Gris felt guilty about not being able to be with Josh in the evening. He shook his head sadly. "I am sorry, Love, I have another late night planned and am seeing some clients later. I wish I could be here." He was seeing some clients...after a fashion. His pack constituted some of his clients. Of course this particular meeting would happen on all fours in the woods. He wanted to talk to Tavi about coming with him and Kiyo and the three of them running together tonight.
It occurred to him that he would need to tell Josh soon. He dreaded having to explain what he was and worried that his boyfriend would not understand. Gris didn't want their relationship to end and it might when his partner found out he wasn't even human. It would be better to know how Josh would react soon, before he fell hopelessly and completely in love with the man. Already he knew that he'd be a wreck for a while if Josh decided to end their relationship.
If only he had been gifted as a lunar savant. He could live an almost normal life then. Gris rarely had cause to complain about being a werewolf but disappointing Josh was definitely a drawback and possibly losing him entirely was more than he cared to think about.
"Perhaps I could go into work a bit late? Maybe even work from home? If you don't mind the company." The incredibly tired company that was a great deal less energetic than Josh was used to. He gave his boyfriend a hopeful look; it was entirely possible that Josh had plans for his afternoon.
When Gris told him he wouldn't be able to stay the night Josh looked up at him again, trying to hide the stab of hurt in his eyes. His poker face was second to none; it had to be, in his line of work, but often Gris could read him when he thought there was nothing to read. Josh didn't argue. He just held his tongue and nodded.
"Maybe tomorrow night, then," he said mildly, bending forward to press soft, warm kisses into Gris's inner thighs.
Then Gris posed another option. Josh's thoughts might have strayed back to infidelity but for the genuine regret in Gris's voice. He remembered his ex, and how he would become almost defensive and belligerent when he told Josh he'd be gone until the following day. Only after they'd broken up had Josh realized he had been cuckolded for months. He didn't know if it worked the same every time, but Gris's regret was too plain. Immediately he began to set aside the day's plans in his head. He needed to report to Alpha Xephier before night fell but he should have enough time. The Alpha would not begrudge him a day of rest - had practically insisted on it, although Josh hadn't wanted it. This would be a compromise.
"I have to go into the office this afternoon myself," he said, "but just to make some reports and fill out some paperwork. I can do them this evening instead. I'll stay here with you this morning if you can work from here. That will be wonderful."
Having gently cleaned his partner as best he could with the wash cloth, he slid his hands over Gris's hips and kissed him again, tasting the lingering flavors of the two of them together. He wrapped his arms around Gris and hugged him from where he was while waiting for his boyfriend's response.
There was nothing he could do about it or he would. He couldn't un-be a werewolf and he couldn't refuse the full moon. His only option was to make up for it before hand and hopefully the next few nights afterward so that Josh was happy again.
He wondered what happened on his boyfriend's trip. Something seemed to be bothering him. The talk of being home and the maudlin piano music started to add up to something weighing on Josh's mind. Gris wondered if he should ask or if he should just wait and see if Josh wanted to confide in him on his own.
His lover's gentle attentions were doing a good job of distracting him from musing about anything more than a comfortable bed and a warm sexy man to share it with. He sighed softly at the soft kisses on the sensitive skin of his inner thighs and ran both hands through Josh's hair, soothing and encouraging at the same time.
However, the sink was getting a little bit cold and Gris was now thinking that socks and a shirt did not make for the best coverage in winter. Josh's washcloth had been warm and soothing but now his skin was slightly wet and the cool air was making him chilly. It wasn't terribly uncomfortable but it did make him long for the soothing warmth of blankets and Josh's arms, especially the latter.
"That sounds perfect.†He scrubbed at his eyes and swallowed back a yawn. "I may be lack luster company but I will do my best.†He needed that coffee, STAT.
He stood, used a dry hand-towel to pat his boyfriend off, then guided him back out to the bedroom and into his boxers. He slid Gris's dress shirt over his shoulders and offered him a soft, comfortable tee from his closet. They were the same size; a tee that fit Josh snugly would fit Gris a bit more loosely, but it would still fit.
Josh turned back the bed for Gris. "Breakfast in bed," he suggested. "Maybe not exactly the traditional manner, but for now just relax a little. I won't let you miss your whole work day, I promise."
Coffee and breakfast might wake Gris up a little bit, or he could fall asleep anyhow. It didn't matter. If he had work to do Josh hoped he knew he could trust his partner not to let him nap the day away. Surely, though, a little rest would do him good even if it was just sitting and talking for a little bit while they ate.
He arranged the pillows comfortably against the headboard and spread out a bath towel over the comforter to catch any drips or crumbs that might happen. Eating away from the kitchen was not something Josh normally encouraged but in this case it would be fine. He retrieved the coffee, which must have been piping hot as it was still pretty warm, and bagels, and handed them to Gris to distribute.
"Do you have your laptop with you? I can go get it if you like."
If Gris was going to be working from here, he could easily do that from the comfort of the bedroom unless he preferred Josh's small office space, which was downstairs in the den an really only consisted of a desk and a desktop pc. Josh personally thought this would be a lot more comfortable. And in a bed. How convenient.
In the meantime he tried not too think too hard about tonight. Where Gris might be, if he was actually going to be at work or if he was doing something else. Maybe he'd head over to the Den and watch the kids. It was a full moon tonight still, after all.
