Independence Day Event!

The Streets of Nachton bustle with excitement as preparations for the main event begin. Already the traffic is gridlocked; horns are honking, people are leaving their cars, throwing bags and beer cans from one car to another as cops run frantically to put a stop to the inevitable madness of Independence Day in the city. The American Flag flutters from car antennas and store fronts and flag poles, and plastered on the windows and doors of the shops are signs and stickers directing the denizens to the night's scheduled events.

And oh, what a night is in store for the viewers! The celebration centers in the Vesper Gardens, where thousands of lights are strung up on display throughout the many walkways and gazebos. After sunset, a parade of assorted lighted floats will make their way around the path that circles the gardens, following which will be a fireworks spectacular to finish off the night.

The summer air moved like soft, warm kisses over her skin. There was a nice breeze tonight, Amberelle noted to herself with a smile. 'Good, then the fireworks should be nice and visible, no lingering smoke to obscure the display!' It was just past sunset so she knew the festivities would be starting soon.

She'd parked her blue Aston in a small pay lot so she was assured of some security for it. She slipped the attendants an extra fifty each to keep anyone from parking too close or getting 'too friendly' and swung her small cooler's strap over her shoulder. She grabbed the folding camp chair, her purse and closed the trunk. She fitted one of her I-Pod's ear buds into place and turned on some thing loud and fun.

The blonde knew she looked good in her low on the hips, laced up the sides and front, second skin navy leather short-shorts, a t-shirt proclaming 'I (heart) AMERICA' across her ample breasts that left her middriff bare and some comfy lace up combat boots. Her thick hair was pulled back and braided but a few strands had already escaped, during the drive down to town since she'd had her top down. They framed her face, curling softly.

Walking down the short block to the Gardens, she started to look for a good spot to set herself up at.

((OOC Anyone feel free to join me =) ))

Damn but it's crowded.

Nova's Firebird rolled slowly along the strip, complaining and scolding its driver impatiently. Powaqa was not made for slow strolls and heavy traffic.

At last she pulled into a parking lot, following the signaled instructions of a traffic director, and put her car to rest.

She stepped out of the vehicle and shoved a silver flask of whiskey into her boot, pulling the cargo jeans over top of it to conceal. Her tee shirt stuck to her back and she tugged at it absently.

Edelbrock headers, brand new tranny, duel exhaust, countless hours of work and it's the fuckin' air conditioning that breaks.

Nova shrugged, knowing she'd fix it soon, but not today.

No, today was for fun, not work. She made her way into the gardens, looking for a place to chill.

Simon stepped out of his blue jaguar and looked around. The sun was nestled quietly in bed and he inhaled as he looked up into the new evening sky. He could feel the warmth still in the air. He opened his eyes but saw nothing in the sky and saw the last purples and reds of the sunset. That was the closest he had seen the sun in centuries.

It was a nice warm summer evening and the temperature had hovered around the 90's today. He chose to go without a jacket for the event tonight, he would welcome the slightest of chills. Simon wore tailored linen trousers that contrasted nicely with his off white linen shirt. He unbuttoned the top 3 buttons to expose his tanned and hairless chest. He rounded the tail end of the jag and opened the passenger door.

He looked at the long leg and the delicately sandaled feet that peered out. Reaching down he took the demure hand that was offered to him. Ellis stepped out and winked at her companion. He pulled her hand to his mouth and kissed it gently, not caring for the moment who was around.

She must not mind either, Simon thought as she stood close and kissed his lips, holding her hand flat on his chest.

She had promised Simon that there would be no territorial confrontations tonight. She shrugged inwardly. Its not like I could help it, she thought.

Ellis kissed her adoring XO, relishing in the freedom it. She wore an off the shoulder blue blouse with 3/4 length sleeves. The tops of her breasts were like globes peeking out of the top of the material. The matching skirt revealed a long slit providing amble view of her long dancer like legs. She took her silk white wrap from the car and Simon helped drape it over her shoulders.

Ellis pulled him close as he shut her door. She put her hand on the skin of his chest and slowly moved it around, feeling the softness of it. She looked at him with her watery green eyes, winking with a smile. He grinned at her.

Simon laughed as she winked at him. 'I know that wink,' he said. She purred at him. 'Promises...,' he whispered as he leaned in close and kissed her neck.

Her body pressed up against him sent fire from hips to his stomach, warming him. 'Shall we?' He asked encircling his arms around her waist.

'What, right here?' She laughed jokingly.

'Well...,' he pulled her close roughly and then scooped her up in his arms. 'Lets see what kind of trouble we can get into first?'

His Ellis grabbed him holding on laughing. His cold vampire heart warmed at the sound. This night would be a good one, he just hoped there would be more to come, at least with her.
Mai 19 years ago
Mai had climbed up into one of the trees decorated with lights for the parade. They were quite pretty and she was standing out on a high branch stretching up to reach one for closer inspection. This particular strand was a string of red and she was quite pleased with the color. Mai contemplated whether they could be picked like the glowing flowers they resembled and pulled lightly as an experiment. It wasn't coming away so easily, it did loosen slightly and so she twisted it some more. Ah, that worked! The small piece came loose and slid into her palm but to Mai's disappointment the light went out, as did its companions. Sighing softly, she replaced the object and was satisfied when it went back to giving off a glow. These glowing roses weren't meant to be picked. Pity, She wondered if Morrigan would have liked them

Mai sat down on the branch and swung her legs placidly enjoying watching people from her high perch for the moment.
Meegan 19 years ago
It made Meegan happy to not own and or want to drive a car, today. She leaned forward to pay the cabbie and emerged from the air-conditioned back seat into the heat of the evening. She gave Dill's leash a tug and he was happily panting on the sidewalk beside her. She reached in abd grabbed Dill's bag, her little cooler and her purse. She slung them over her shoulder, before smoothing down her white mini-skirt and red and blue starspangled tank top. She'd pulled her hair into pigtails and adorned them with red, white and blue ribbons.

She and Dill made their way into the gardens. Tucking the earbud for her Blackberry into her ear, she hummed along with Bowling for Soup.
Rachyl 19 years ago
Rachyl felt kind of embarassed wearing the same shirt as she had for the parade, but she'd washed it, and no one she knew saw her that morning.

She hopped from the bus to the curb in front of the building and grounds housing the Gardens, her ponytail swaying from the rear of her Philadelphia 76ers cap. She felt a tug at her shoulder - the lunchpail had gotten stuck on the bus door - and she carefully unsnared it before heading through the entrance.

Meegan went to where everyone seemed to be congragating, and found a spot somewhere in the middle of the crowd. She took a horse blanket from Dill's bag and spread it on the ground. She planted her rump to one side, set her cooler next to her and Dill took up residence at her feet.

She gave him an indulgent pat, before pulling Terry Goodkind's Blood of the Fold from her bag. She found her page and resting her head on her cooler, layed back to read.
Rachyl 19 years ago
Rachyl wandered, waving to people, returning flirtatious glances, when she saw a body lying down in the middle of the hub-bub. Craning her neck, she spied familiar strawberry blonde hair, and shiny brown. Grabbing two strangely bottled beers from a table nearby - "Must be from a local micro-brewery," she thought - she picked her way through the crowd. She sat quietly at Meegan's head, her legs crossed - inverted - and set the beers between her legs.

While Dill looked at her and wagged his tail, Meegan didn't appear to notice her for several minutes, until she took one of the cold bottles and rested it against her boss' almost-bare shoulder.

"What in the hell is wrong with you?" Meegan asked in a less than polite tone as she put her book across her belly and looked up at what jackass was bothering her. She knew her whole demeanor sent of 'Leave me the fuck alone' vibes, so she couldn't imagine what idiot had decided to put a cold bottle on her arm. Her eyes met very familiar green as she looked into the eyes of her assailant.

"Oh, Rachyl. Sorry about that. Happy Forth!"

Meegan sat up and put her arms out to embrace her new companion.

Rachyl stretched her arms and embraced Meegan tightly. "Happy Fourth to you too, Meegan!"

She kissed the woman's cheek and said impishly, "Cold beer?"
