Description
The Vesper Gardens were created to be enjoyed at night. In a city awake at all hours Nachton's designers believed a garden to be enjoyed in the evening would be a perfect addition. So whether you are a late riser or just want to unwind after a long day at work, the Vesper Gardens is a relaxing evening experience.
In the gardens you will find many silver and white plants common in moon gardens along with plants known for blooming at night. Such as bright red four o clocks. White Sweet-Scented Nicotiana.
Trellises have been draped with the white bloomed moonflower vines and colorful evening primroses.
Greenary includes the lush hostas both Royal Standard and So Sweet adding a fullness to the sides of the pathways. The silver white color of several varieties of Artemisia, which includes Artemisia Absinthium, or wormwood as it is commonly called and Artemisia Vulgaris, also known as Mugwort adds a soft silver glow to hedges. For privacy some of the walk ways have been planted with the high growing Japanese Silver Grass blocking off some of the view from elsewhere in the gardens. The paths are lined with benchs for quiet chats that could easily last well into the night.
There is a small field of lavender which lends its peaceful fragrance to the air and its lovely purple flowers to the gardens in the late summer.
No moon garden would be complete without night blooming jasmine and the heady aroma of this small plant can be found in the Vesper Gardens as well.
All the winding paths eventually lead to the large cleared center with its magnificent lighted fountain, the centerpiece of which is a sculpture of Artemis drawing her bow, her legs surrounded by woodland animals.
