New Shoes (lock)
Meegan slumped into the seat, watching the Strip go by. None of her questions had been answered and Mr. Evans had been successful in pissing her off. She hated that. To top it off she hadn't gotten any shopping done. Not that she needed anything, it was a nice therapy. Up ahead she saw the sign for a Lady Footlocker. She realized she hadn't asked Jeeves to pick up her trainers. No sense asking him when she could just buy them here. Besides, running might be a great steam blower when she got back to the house.
"Jeeves, I want to go to the Lady Footlocker, please."
"Yes, Miss Meegan."
He pulled into a metered space and let her out of the car. Taking a good look at the store and the street, he decided staying out with the car would be best. She could shop for shoes on her own. The store's entire front was glass and one could see into the entire space in a swift glance. She would be safe enough. Jeeves held the door to the shop open for her and returned to stand by the car hands held comfortablly in front of him.
Meegan wrinkled her nose at the strong rubber smell in the shoe store. She crossed to the running shoes as a woman in a black and white striped shirt greeted her. She stood infront of the sevral dozen different kids of running shoes. It seemed so strange for them to have thirty different styles of ten different kinds of athletic shoes. She finally settled on a pair of white and silver runners with a purple swoosh. The kind that have the air pockets in the soles, so that it feels like you have springs in your shoes. They're great for pavement running.
She moved to the cross trainers section. 'A girl never knows when she'll need comfortable shoes at night.' She chuckled softly as she selected a pair that were solid black, all the way down to the gromets, even the swoosh was black. She asked for both pair in a seven B, and selected two three-packs of thin absorbant socks, one in white and one in black.
She paid for her purchases, in cash, and returned to the car. It seemed to her, that a run around the Manor grounds would be very good indeed. She slipped into the car, and asked Jeeves to take her home.
