Sensational Shopping Scene

The trip to the mall was uneventful, though it appeared to be even darker now than when she peaked out the window. Connie pulled into the parking garage and drove to the lower level. There was an amazing amount of parking down here and a spot was easy to find. Interesting, Nyra hadn't even known it was there. Since they got a spot right next to the elevators, she didnt even comment on the subteranian enviroment.

As they were swept upwards to the mall, the two held hands. An elderly woman shared their elevator to the first floor. Her flamboyant straw hat with lots of ribbons and several fake birds made Nyra smile widely.

The couple walked to the map kiosk and looked at the selection of stores. Home Furnishings contained a long list, from Sears to Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel to William Sonoma. It sounded like lots of fun to explore the selections with Connie.

Oddly enough, Nyra never noticed the cloud painted metal rolling screens that covered the skylights because the mall was so brightly lit from above it felt like the sun was coming in.

"Where do you want to go first?" she asked the beauty beside her.

Connie flipped open her notepad and rattled off the list. "It seems the only things we have left to get from my list are... a TV, computer and desk, modular closet, under-bed storage drawers, slippers, and silverware." Connie poked at her temple with her silver pen. "Though I know I left my actual list on my desk in work, so there's a few items here that I'm fergettin' not to mention can' remember at the moment."

Slipping the pen and pad away from her she reached out and picked up one of the lightly toasted rounds of bread. Raising her fork with the other hand, she gently moved some of the chopped tomatoes and spices onto it, then held it out to Nyra. "But like Ah've said, Ah plan on spendin' a pretty long time in Nachton... Ah'm tired of movin' around so often."

She paused a moment, breath held, lips parted slightly, then she said, "Ah'm glad Ah found one great reason to stay."

Nyra sat in awe of Connie's organization. A list at work and a list here. Wow. She probably never forgot to eat or where she put her shoes either. With a silly smile, at her own inability to keep track of things, she took a sip of water.

Gracefully she took a bite of the proffered bread. It was so amazing with ripe tomatoes and basil, and if she was not mistaken a hint of olives. After savoring and chewing the artist dabbed at her lips with her napkin.

"I am not sure where you get a TV or computer, I never bought or owned either. Most of the other things can be gotten at a department store, perhaps the Macy's at the mall?"

The two partook of the appetizer and company to chat happily about what they had bought earlier, how they planned on arranging it and further shopping trips. Soon the waitress bustled out with plates of steaming home-cooked food without any errors, making Nyra's meal that much more enjoyable. She hated sending food back.

Offering a bite of pasta with veggies to Connie they shared samples of each others meal. Both of which were fabulous. The dessert cart had a few offerings Nyra could indulge in, a sorbet and fruit tart, but they were both happily stuffed already. The two ladies sat sipping their lemonade as darkness fell and the restaurant filled up. Cheerfully the waitress told them how popular they were with the locals for dinner and late evening. They were open until 3am which boggled Nyra, why would anyone want to go out to eat at such a time! Content and happy, the two paid the bill and vacated the table to a waiting party.

Hand in hand the lovers went out to Connie's car as the stars peeked from behind buildings and clouds.
