Personal Questions

1. Describe your character's personality

Oce is a Gemini and like her sign she has 2 sides. One side she is a logical, analytical lawyer very business like and 'proper'. On the other she is very passionate, stubborn and impulsive. The last usually becomes evident in her personal life. She doesn't take 'feelings' others have for her seriously. She also has a sharp sarcastic wit on occasion and can be know to use all her assets to win her battles in the courtroom or in other area's of her life.

She is ambitious and is not afraid of using others to get what she wants. That in fact is her job description. Oce had a tendency to ask rhetorical questions and answers it is a habit from her 'human' days. Her father would make her sit and ask herself questions out loud and answer them before she made any big decisions. He being a lawyer himself would work out cases and general ideas like this. Of course in the time she was born it was not proper for her to become a lawyer however he did teach her everything he knew. It is one of the few memories she has of him. From her mother Oce inherited her necklace. The soft amber pendant outlined in silver is always around her neck. When she is contemplating a hard case, or deep in thought she is usually seen stroking or fiddling with it.

There is a line between too much and not enough Oce likes to dance between it keeping people wondering... is she too much or not really there? Oce does not like letting people see her entire hand if you know what I mean. During her growing up years she wanted to become and actress and when her father and mother were killed she promptly put that dream aside and joined the resistance to liberate France from their murderers. Her skill's became a necessity as she often developed character quirks to throw people off. Or make them believe she is less then she is.

Oce has always been a beautiful woman. She is an excellent flirt but doesn't take sex or love seriously. She does not understand it and uses it as a tool more so then an emotion.

2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.)
Oce is always elegantly attired. Most would see her as a graceful and confident but very feminine. She lives in a men's world so she remembers to keep herself soft to not 'threaten' her male counterparts. Most consider her beautiful but her looks give way to a more intelligent mind once they have spoken with her.

Her attire during the day is light coloured skirt or pant suits. She tries to appear 'non' threatening as possible and stays away from dark colours the men usually wear. During the evenings she likes to relax and still be sophisticated in elegant evening gowns for official events or evenings off at home she can often be seen wearing jeans and a tank top.

3. What does your character like? She enjoys using her wits to win and beating others at their own game. Other likes, a good debate with someone of intelligence, sweet food and wine. She has developed an ear for rock and roll music and the new style of clothing the younger humans wear. She also likes reading Shakespeare and any stage production she can get too. (The day it became proper for human females to wear pants she rejoiced.)

4. Dislike? People who swear excessively or for no reason or at inappropriate times; There is a time and place for everything and intelligence is often perceived by how one presents them self. (Her father was very strict with this rule) She dislikes cheese she says it smells bad. People who ask prying questions or believe they deserve to know about her past. She dislikes injustice only when it pertains to her of course.

5. (For humans) Describe what abilities you see your character having if they were turned.
N/A

6. What are your fears?
Oce is afraid of loosing what she values in this 'new' life of hers. Their Clan elder Megan (The person who saved her life) and then the clan itself, or worse letting them down. She works tirelessly to make sure both are safe in all areas legally or otherwise. Oce is afraid of turning people in to vampires because Megan taught her how to control her power and overcome her angry and vengeful thoughts. Oce doesn't think she can guide someone like that. She is afraid of big spiders a linger from her human days (big ones like... fake ones in the movie anything else she can squish with no qualms)

7. What are your character's strengths and weaknesses?
Her strengths lay in her logic and education. Oce is sharp and never misses a thing. Her ability to manipulate those around her is a great advantage and pertain to more then her vampire abilities. Weakness her business life she is flawless but personally she is stubborn, resilient and generally unfeeling to those around her. She doesn't understand the purpose or reason for love and cares only for herself and few others around her. Her sense of justice is what propels her to be a lawyer and helping people is sometimes in that job description.

Hobbies & Skills Oce was never athletic but a need to protect oneself had been an issue. She learned the skill of knives from an older clan mate. She now keeps them concealed about her body in odd areas no one would ever guess. Oce likes to read novels of all kinds and immerse herself in law books. Being an authority on the subject is her goal. She was never good with a sword as many of her older clan mates had tried to teach her but she enjoys the logistics and studies them when she can. However fencing is more her style, A traditional French pass time she got in to before she was a vampire. The lightweight sword and head to toe protection was what made her interested. She still is not very good since she lacks the agility to be as quick as her opponent and the muscle to over power them but it is a good way to keep in shape. Since coming to the United States she enjoys horse back riding and has even been known to play a game of polo every now and then. She has considered buying a country home to raise horses on.

Skills she speaks English German French and Latin with perfect accents. She had 5 law degrees from various institutions. Oce has perfect handwriting

Abilities: Sending & Empathy

Flaws: Won't feed on - She did it once and will always be haunted by the little girl.
Picky eater: Oce won't kill herself over this but she does eat those she thinks deserve it (Criminals or otherwise really offensive humans)
Haunted by those they've killed: This applies to those she doesn't think deserved it before she took control of the vampire in her. Specifically one little girl, certain smells, environments, or female human children remind her of the child she once killed for no reason.

Cosmetic Traits (These must be minor, see the rules) Her eyes have a metallic sheen to them. As she was turned the bullet in her spine disintegrated and went through her blood stream settled behind her eyes. It is mostly noticeable at night.

Quirks and Habits worthy of mention:
Oce tends to wear a pendant around her neck that she strokes or fiddles with when she is deep in thought. She also asks rhetorical questions and answers.

Personal History (Please be detailed, this creates your basis for your character)

Océane Émond was born in the year 1920 on a beautiful spring/summer day (June 14th) in Paris France. Her parents were Vesta and Patrick Émond. Both born in the country side of France had moved to the big city when they married. Their parents were not happy with them leaving their 'farming' lives behind. Oce had never met with them because of this irreconcilable difference. Her father became a successful lawyer and her mother a teacher in a local school.

She grew up a bright child with both her parents teaching her their occupations. Her father drilled her on law books by night and her mother Latin, mathematics, science, history, and other subjects by day. He often wished she were a boy and could take up the family practice. However Oce had much bigger and 'brighter' dreams. She was entranced the first time they had taken her to a play at the age of 5. She wanted to be an actress. In all her spare time (which wasn't much with studies and chores) she practiced acting the lead rolls in any play she could get her hands on. Romeo and Juliet was her favorite although the meaning behind the words she did not understand she did manage to mimic the emotion.

Oce became a Shakespeare expert by the age of 20 knowing the lines to every lead female in the all his plays (and most of the not so lead characters) She had tried out and landed rolls in a number of small productions and school plays however when she had finished high school and was settling in to adult life the war hit. She had been working in her father's office as a secretary assistant when the war was announced. Germany was invading France. The young woman grew up very fast and was forced in to the resistance when her parents were both murdered in their home. Oce was visiting a friend and managed to escape their fate. Upon returning to their cold and lifeless bodies Oce was forever changed. There was no explanation to their death except it was a murder. Her carefree exuberance for life was forever lost along with her dreams.

As the war claimed them she decided to constructively direct her anger. She had vowed vengeance and promised to find those who killed her parents. Her acting abilities came in to play and Oce was a spy for the resistance and message runner on occasion with her knowledge of Latin she was an excellent code translator. She managed to blend in when necessary and stand out as a diversion at other times. Climbing the ranks Oce became a leader among them by the age of 23 (1943). Her sharp wit and level headedness was legendary around France.

That life seems like a dream compared to the one she lives now, when Oce was 25(1945) she met her new fate and was forever changed. At the height of her work in WW2 Oce was captured by German soldiers. They had a spy among the ranks. Not giving in Oce tried to escape as they boarded a passenger train to where she was going to be put in a concentration camp. As she tried to flee she was shot in the neck. Oce did not realize she was shot as she fled and the bullet was dangerously close to her spine. As she ran and hid the bullet dislodged itself and hit her spine severing it leaving her laying in a heap in the darkness of the railroad buildings. That is when Megan Bjorn appeared. The woman was familiar to her. She had been a business associate of her fathers for many years and they had encountered each other before the war. Oce could feel her eyes weakening and the woman seemed like an angel. She explained she could save her life and gave her a choice to live or die. But Oce had to accept all the consequences that came with it. Oce chose to live... for revenge... for her parents. She wanted to find out the truth on why they had been murdered.

Oce's new life as a vampire started out rocky. As Megan guided her they returned to the United States. Many lessons took place but the most memorable was the day Megan taught her how to feed. She presented her with a child... Oce could feel the thirst... the need for something she didn't understand. Megan told her to drink but her first lesson would be for restraint. Oce did and she would forever regret it. The child died shortly after and Oce realized control was imperative and she would forever be haunted by the child. She vowed to never feed on children then and there.

By 1950 Oce was more comfortable with her new vampire abilities. She had developed two of Megan's most useful abilities Empathy and Sending. With this she could communicate with her 'elder' vampire with out using words. Empathy was a bit harder to understand at first this ability allowed her to feel what other people in the room or a certain distance were feeling. She could not understand why she felt things that were not her own feelings. Once she could organize them and she could differentiate who's they were around her this became a very empowering skill. Ready to 'go out' in to the world Megan encouraged her to attend law school. At first Oce was resistant to the idea but Megan was right her father had taught her well and she had the necessary skills in more ways then just vampire abilities. 1952 she attended Harvard Law. Finishing in record time and in the top 1% of her class (under and assumed name of course) She passed the bar and went in to service for Megan. By 1972 (20 years after graduating) she realized she had to disappear from her alias and go back to school creating a new one. She still looked 25 and did not wish to make everyone suspicious. Putting makeup on to look older did get tiresome.

The next school she decided to go to was Yale. With all her practical knowledge and previous education she graduated in 3 years again top 1% of her class and went to work still doing business for her clan Oce decided to open her own private practice for human's and vampires alike. Business did not look at species or race. 30 years of practice Oce was developing quite a fortune of her own. Putting it away she invested wisely and bought some of the premiere stock in companies like Kodak, Microsoft, and Sony (to list a few) Creating a stock profile for herself and the company they both prospered. 1980 arrived and Oce disappeared from her alias once again and went back to school. Stanford was this decade's choice. During this time her practice was being run by some trusted friends who knew her background and covered up her aliases for years. The firm grew to become one of the largest and most esteemed in the world. She was still the boss however she preferred to keep her lawyer skills to herself and only work on rare cases or for the Clan. As she got older she became exceedingly more bored and 1989 changed her alias again and went to Columbia university. During the day she was a humble student doing her 'best' but by night she was Evenhet's cunning lawyer brokering deals all across the world for dig rights in Egypt, or selling this artifact to this museum for 3 million.

1994 Oce graduated from Berkley with her fifth law degree. By 2000 Oce decided to get back in to her firm and took over as lead council using her own name but adding II to it. She figured she could be her own granddaughter and is currently hiring.

Odd Questions (To help define your character)
1. A stranger at a bar offers your character a drink, what is a typical response?

Depending on the situation and her mood and who it was Oce would either flirt or ignore them. (Unless it was a fine glass of Cristal Champaign... how could a girl refuse?)

-------
Oce sat at the bar of the famous hotel. She had just wrapped up a business dinner and stopped for a nightcap before heading back to the office for some late night filing. Sipping her gin and tonic idly she stroked the pendant around her neck and thought of what contract she had just closed with the client she had just left. Putting her empty glass down she paid the bartender and got up smoothing out the soft lavender slip dress she wore. It was modest neckline edged in a darker purple and ended just above her knee. The colour accented her strawberry hair perfectly. Turning she was confronted by a rather tall dashing man. "Excuse me."Â? She said stepping back, "I didn't realize anyone was behind me."Â? Oce side stepped around him and went to leave when he gently grasped her arm. Turning she raised an eyebrow. "If you would kindly let go Sir.,"Â? She said in a no nonsense but diplomatic voice. He mumbled on about a beautiful woman leaving with out anyone and how she must stay for a drink. Oce surveyed the man holding her; all in all he didn't impress her. He had a slight stomach bulge, was wearing an expensive but somewhat wrinkled suit and mismatched tie. Removing his hand she stepped back, "The last time I checked a lady had a choice and I choose to leave."Â? Giving him a dazzling smile she turned on her heals and walked out of the room. The office was looking far better at this moment in time.

2. Your character finds a lost child alone on the streets. What do they do?

Oce refuses to feed or hurt children in any manner she would guide them to the nearest policing center or adult in authority that was not a vampire that is.

-------
As Oce walked away from the nightclub she passed a few buildings in her hand she held the pendant that hung around her neck. She was fiddling with it idly as she thought about an upcoming business meeting. Getting to the corner she turned and almost ran over a child. Her home was not far away and she was intent on reaching it. Not really giving the child any mind she sidestepped it. She was wearing a white suit after all... who needed dirty little child handprints all over it? As she walked she turned hearing the soft whimper. It was the child. Sighing she heard a voice in her head and an image of a female child popped in to her mind. Closing her eyes she willed it away those... eyes haunted her. Walking back she bent down putting her brief case on the pavement she cleared her throat and asked if the kid was ok. There was no answer and Oce was going to give up but a pang of guilt told her to stay put. Her empathy kicked in and a wave of fear... tiredness and unknowing hit her, the child was projecting them rather strongly. Grumbling she took the child's hand and walked across the street. Two blocks in that direction she knew there was a police station. The girl was resistant at first but Oce was insistent. "Â?Why do I do this to myself?"Â? she said out loud not really expecting anyone to answer. Stopping she bent down and put two hands on the girl's arms. Looking in to her eyes she smiled and with her mind she sent her a message, "Let's go now."Â? Oce's stern voice echoed in the child's mind and the child stopped her pulling action and followed behind wide eyed and shocked. Stopping in front of the police station she opened the door. "There go inside now and tell those nice men who you are and you are lost.

3. A bar fight erupts in the nightclub your character is in, what do they do?

Ignore it and give the party the most beat up her card. Can never miss an opportunity to involve legal matters, she does have a business to run.

------------------
Oce walked in to the rather popular and highly recommended night club. She was not in the mood for dancing and to be truthful she wasn't sure why she had decided to go out that night. The day had been long and grueling. Oce had spent most of it 'calmly' explaining to a murderer the wrongness of his ways. Noticing the bar she made a b-line for it. Accepting a stool that was quite comfortable she nodded to the hand some bartender and smiled. "Red wine please."Â? The bartender returned with three bottles. She had given him a 'make it expensive look. "Hmm the 2001 Rene Rostaing Cote Rotie Classique Syrah,"Â? She said pointing to the first bottle. He quickly returned with a fluted glass. Putting the money and a generous 20 dollar tip down she swiveled to survey the room. She was still wearing a white business suit the v-neck was lower then most but the skirt was a modest between the knee and thigh length. Crossing her legs the skirt came up a bit higher giving it just the little bit of 'sexy' she desired at the office. The club was filled with a mixture of young trendy people and a bit more mature business class. She guessed the night was nothing more then a 'test' for her empathy. Sorting out the tirade feelings in the room was a chore and probably would leave her exhausted but it was something to do. The primary feeling she could pick out was pleasure, probably from the dancing on the dance floor. Turning back around she decided to give herself a break and finish her drink but before she could fully turn a prickly sense shot up her spin and her head turned sharply in time to see a man suddenly punch another man. Anger rose from both of them as they began to beat one another. Bouncers she rolled her eyes this place had gone down the drain fast. Finishing her drink she got up and slipped a card to the bar tender winking she had a few things for those rippling muscles of his to do if he was interested. As she got to the door the two men were still being held apart. One had a bleeding nose and bruised eye. Estimating the damage on the other she realized it was minimal and turned to the guy with the broken nose. Handing him a card and sauntered away. 'Business is business.' She said to herself.
