Wandering ((Open))

Once in her room, Wren unpacked a few things, and changed from the stupid little skirt and sweater, to a pair of thick wool socks, blue jeans, a nice wool sweater, and boots. She put on her coat and wound a scarf around her neck.

She tugged a purse from one suitcase and transfered everything from her pockets and backpack into it. Tucking the keycard into her pocket, she headed out onto The Strip

Drev chuckled. He often got confused by the days when he stayed out all night. Even though he often spent his waking hours while the sun was sleeping, he still didn't consider a day ended until he slept. And then there was daylight savings time... he didn't even like to think about that ridiculous idea....

"Yeah, you're right. Tomorrow... not later today," he explained with a wink. He should probably call later today and book a limo - his Harley wouldn't be appropriate transportation for a classy evening out. Though he hated using such a gas-guzzling vehicle.... Oh well... sometimes you just have to pull the stick out of your ass and have a good time.

"Oh great, that means I don't have to hurry home to get some sleep in. Tomorrow works much better and will give me a chance to get my hours back in order."

She looked at her empty glasses and decided it was time for a refill, especially since there wasn't a line at the moment.

"I'm going to get another coffee and something sweet to eat, do you want anything?"

She stood and started collecting her things to take back to the counter with her. When she looked up again she caught the little asian woman listening to them and winked at her.

"Um... yeah," he said, looking into his empty mug. He dug quickly in his pocket with the other hand, and handed Wren the cup and a twenty dollar bill. "I don't remember what it was, though," he said quickly in hopes of derailing any protest about him paying for their refreshments. "Just get me whatever," he added with a wide, warm smile.

As the night... morning... wore on, Drev began to wonder if Serena was ever going to call him. He certainly wanted to hear from her, but he wouldn't mind if he was stuck here with Wren for a few more minutes.....

She took his mug and money with one hand and her stuff with the other and flashing him a grin went up to the counter. Never in her life had she turned down someone else paying for her. sure she thought women should do things for themselves, but refusing to let someone else spend their money on you was just stupid.

She gave the dirty things to the girl behind the counter and ordered two more of the Christmas spice coffees with steamed milk, and two brownies. She paid with Drev's twenty and took the change from the girl, jamming it into her pocket to free her hands.

After a few moments she set to fresh mugs of steaming coffee and two very gooey looking brownies on a tray. Wren grabbed napkins and forks and carried the tray back to the table with Drev. She dug in her pocket and pulled out his change. She set it on the table by him in case he was one of those guys that insisted you keep it, then cleaned of the tray and set it on the far side of the table.

"It's called Christmas spice, it's very pleasant and just a little sweet."
Milazo 19 years ago
Drev smiled and thanks Wren when she came back with their refreshments. He paid no attention to the change on the table. "I guess it is that time of year, isn't it?" He hadn't really been paying attention to the months slipping by. And why should he? He had no family to celebrate the holidays with. All Hallow's Eve was the only holiday he could say he celebrated. "Have you written your letter to Santa Claus yet?" he said with a grin and took a sip of the coffee. Not bad.

She gave a sort of snorting laugh, and sipped her coffee. "Yes, because I've been such a good girl this year, I asked for this thing called a normal life. I'm hoping it comes in a big box. I like big boxes."

'Bitter much, Wren?' She grinned into her coffee and eyed her brownie. Her work made it possible to do things like have two coffees and a brownie with out putting on weight. So she picked up her fork and squished off a corner. She moaned softly around the mouthful, it was incredibly rich and tasted like sin in her mouth. She loved it when choclate tasted like sin.
Milazo 19 years ago
Drev chuckled and took a mouthful of brownie. "While that sounds like a lovely thing to receive, I was hoping you'd say something a little more... tangible." He took another forkful. The brownie was good, just shy of being too sweet. A tall glass of cold milk would have tasted better with the brownie, but the coffee served well enough.
Wren 19 years ago
"Oh, you mean like slippers or a coffee maker or something?" She tilted her eyes and studied him, wondering just what he was getting at. She knew she was being paranoid, but what girl wouldn't be?

"Actually I'd love a new coat and if Santa's feeling generous keys to an apartment would be great."

She chuckled and took another bite of her brownie.
Milazo 19 years ago
Drev chuckled, his mind turning over possibilities. He couldn't very easily secure the girl an apartment... Too much risk that she wouldn't like it, not what she needed, too big, too small... too many variables.

Drev so enjoyed doing unpredictable things, just to see the person's reaction. And his virtually limitless bank accounts allowed him to do some pretty damn unpredictable things. He'd have to come up with something to do for Wren.

But on the other hand, he didn't want to seem like a stalker, either. A lot of people felt uncomfortable with Drev's random, generous gifts, no matter how adamantly he told them that there were no strings attached. He simply enjoyed the fact that he could affect someone's life so profoundly - which is a big reason why he agreed to go along on his former band's road to fame.

"You know, Santa's a big Starface fan," he said in a lowered voice, leaning forward as if imparting a secret. "Maybe I can pull a few strings for you?" He made it a question so that Wren would still be in control - so she could refuse or accept as she wished. But of course, that was in regards to Santa, not Drev, he thought with an inward grin.

"I'll just bet he is, but Wren's not a big fan of concerts and has no place to play CDs at the moment." Though she was fairly certain she'd have a place to live and a job by Christmas, having it furnished and complete with something so luxurious as a stereo could prove a bit much.

"Thanks though. I'm sure dinner will prove exciting enough, seeing as I have to buy new shoes and everything. Speaking of, is there a mall nearby?"
Suki Langston 19 years ago
Suki smiled back at the woman when she was caught easedropping. Oh well, its a small place! Unfortunately they stopped talking about martial arts and started about dancing, she had lost interest. When the two made a date she basically gave up listening. Cyrus specifically asked for unattached women.

Opening her little red clasp purse she dug out a card for the studio she went to for her martial arts time. Waving to Julie one last time Suki hopped off the tall stool. Her black combat boots made a loud thump upon hitting the floor. Quickly she walked over to the pair's table as they ate their brownies. With a quiet and somewhat embarassed voice she commented after placing the card for Master Ling's Studio upon the table.

"This is a good place to train."

Smiling shyly at the two of them she turned and walked out the front door before either had a chance to say anything. The place was a good one and she went there almost daily. If they took her seriously and tried the place out they would meet again.

((ooc: Suki out. Sorry for the silence and walk by, shes feeling a mite shy.))

Drev grinned, though he was a little confused by her statement. Did she think he meant he might procure her an autographed CD or backstage passes or something? That sounds too much like a game show partying gift they'd give to the losers. No... if he meant to give her anything, it'd be more along the lines of an autographed... car. Or trip to Europe for a month.

"Yeah, there's a mall just down the Strip," Drev said, cocking a thumb in the general direction. "But if you're going to be buying things just for our date, I'm going to have to insist that I pay for them. This date is my idea, I'm footing the bill, and I will not allow any expense to get by me," he said and dug in his pocket again. He pulled out the rest of what cash he had left - probably about five hundred dollars worth - and handed the wad to Wren. "And if that's not enough, I'll have to pay you back when I see you next," he added with a shy smile, as if he could be embarassed that he didn't have more money on him.
Wren 19 years ago
She smiled at the woman as she set the card on their table. She'd probably check the place out just to watch the people move in their dance. She took the money from him with big wide eyes and opened her mouth to speak but just let it close again.

What in the hell was she supposed to do now? Letting him buy her coffee was one thing, but...she looked down at the wad of cash in her hand...like over four hundred dollars for a pair of shoes was a bit much. Did she take what she would ned for shoes and give the rest back to him or just take it and then find a way to slip it in his pocket on their date or just give the whole lot back to him?

Or maybe she should just buy a new dress to go along with those shoes and a new dress meant new underthings, and new underthings meant a wax and pedicure/ manicure...whoa! That was going a bit too far. Still the thought of it all was a great deal of fun.

"Um..thanks." Oh nice, now she sounded just as dumbstruck as she felt. But really, what is a girl to do here.
Milazo 19 years ago
Drev glanced up at the woman who put the card on their table. He'd known she was there, but hadn't paid her any attention. She must have been listening to them, and that bothered him a little. But then, the place was pretty small... maybe she just overheard them. Whatever.

Master Ling, hm? Drev made a mental note to check it out one of these days.

"And I want none of it back," Drev added, nodding to the money Wren held in her hand as if it might bite her. He popped the last bit of brownie into his mouth and smiled.
Wren 19 years ago
She was so going shopping. It wasn't everyday a man put that much money in a girl's lap. And if he expected a little pickle tickle from her in return he would be sorely disappointed. Well she'd deal with that some other time and she could always just pay him back if that was the way it played out. Until then a dress, panties, wax and spa treatments were in her future.

"It's very generous of you, Drev. Thank you."

She scooted to the end of her chair, nearly laying in it and stuffing the bills into her pocket. She sat up and smiled at him.

"So did you want to go shopping with me or just wait and be surprised?"
Milazo 19 years ago
"You're welcome," Drev said with a smile as he watched her force the bills into her pocket. "I would love to, but I'm afraid I've got other engagements today," he said with a bit of disappointment in his voice. He took a sip of his coffee, and seeing his mug empty now, took the hint. He set the mug down and glanced at the watched attached to the spiked leather strap around his wrist. "Wow... later than I thought," he mumbled mostly to himself as he stood. Then louder, "Gotta run, but t was really a pleasure to meet you, Wren. And I look forward to tomorrow night." Smiling his best smile, he held out his hand to her. "Seven o'clock in the lobby of the Comfort Inn, right?"
Wren 19 years ago
She stood and took his hand firmly, and gave him a bright smile. "Yes, tomorrow at seven in the Comfort Inn lobby. I really am looking forward to it."

She gave his hand a small shake and let go, putting her hand down by her side.

"And thanks for making my first days here so...positive." 'Nope didn't sound cheesey at all, not at all.'
Milazo 19 years ago
Drev's first impulse was to give her a double thumbs-up, a cheesey smile, and tell her to have a Super rest of the week!

Instead, he just bowed his head slightly and released her hand before turning for the door. When he got outside, the sky was beginning to lighten from black to navy in the east, and Drev thought about Serena. She still hadn't called and sunrise wasn't too far off.

While daylight wasn't Drev's favorite time to be outside, the sunlight didn't bother him overmuch. Not like he'd seen in some silly vampire movies. Mostly, it was just difficult for him to adjust his eyes to the brightness. He wore dark sunglasses even on cloudy days, but even so, he often ended up with a headache for his troubles. Oh well... small enough price to pay. Besides, they didn't have to spend the whole day outside.....

((Drev out....))

She watched him leave. 'Whodda thunk a rock star could be a nice guy.' Apart from the money thing, she didn't find him lecherous or seedy and he seemed clean. And he wasn't overtly hitting on her, the playful banter was fun, and she had managed to tell him no with out telling him no. She figured she'd burn that bridge when she crossed it.

She sat back down, pulling her legs up in the chair so that her heels touched her butt and she could rest her hands on her knees. She held her coffee cup and contemplated the world she had found herself in.

((She's going to sit and drink coffee for a bit, feel free to join her. If not I'll just take her shopping in a bit.))
Wren 19 years ago
She spent another hour in the coffee shop, finishing of a third Christmas spice latte, and watching the world go by outside the big picture window. So far Nachton looked like any other major city she'd been in. I reminded her a little of Boston, in it's laid back beat, but of New York in its variety of people. She decided that she was going to like it here. If she could just find a job and an apartment anyway.

She stood and took all of her things up to the counter and thanked the girl. She was invited back anytime and waved out the door. Back outside she breathed deeply of the air. It smelled of snow and city, not an unpleasant mix really. She looked up at the brightening sky then down at her watch. She decided sleep would be best first since shops weren't usually open at 6:23.

She walked the blocks back to her hotel and waving at the clerk made her way to her room. Once there she stripped, and fell naked into bed. Asleep before her head hit the pillow.
