Pest Control: Attn Aishe (private)

Christian waited silently by the van with the "Bugs B Gone"Â? logo emblazoned on the side. The equipment had already been loaded and the other two members of his team were inside the back of the van checking the instruments and arranging everything securely. Now all they needed was the star of this show. The human that he could be putting into danger.

She wanted to be a part of the clan and to him that meant helping the clan. It was best to see if she were willing to do that now instead of finding out that she had no interest in Evenhet later. Aishe had agreed quickly enough and that was encouraging. So far he had been quite impressed with the young human who had so boldly walked up to one of the most ancient of them and said she wished to be made an immortal for the sake of love.

Christian snorted silently to himself. It sounded like a romance novel and if he had not seen the Egyptian woman and spoke with her then he'd have been skeptical of her true intentions. She seemed very grounded despite her lofty goals and that was reassuring.

She was also on time. Another plus.

"Good Morning. Ms Nevrat."Â?

Aishe felt rather pleased at being able to make herself heard mind-to-mind. Chris' voice in her head was at the same time different and similar to wearing the earpiece. She nestled down for the duration of the ride, noting that he smelled something like clean clothes and soap - another pleasantry after the not-so-clean apartments and the chemicals she'd been using. She nodded as he told her about abilities, and then looked up at him at the mention of suggestion.

[Suggestion... so I wasn't just being a chicken when that... vampire... told me to forget and go? I knew I didn't want to forget, but he still made my head all fuzzy anyway. I didn't like that. I don't think I like losing control of myself.]

When he mentioned learning more, she smiled with as much eagerness as she could muster. [I've really been learning a lot. I guess I haven't learned all I can though. Do you think MARI might be inclined to help me sort all the abilities out, too? And... you'll let me stay and keep helping out?]

That notion too was more than agreeable. Aishe had liked helping her clan, and even moreso, had liked the idea of what she was doing to help out. She was glad to hear that she hadn't entirely botched the job, and surprised that Chris might want to have her along again. Knowing that she'd been under the influence of some strange vampire ability went a long way towards making her feel better about her own role, but the idea of some stranger mucking about in her head made her curl up into an even tighter ball. Chris talking into her head, Kem sharing her feelings... those, she didn't mind. But having been attacked and then compelled against her will was something she might have nightmares about.

Looking up at Chris once more before closing her eyes again, she sent, [I do want to stay. I want to help. I'd love to keep my hand in as an archaeologist, but maybe I can just help out there once in a while...]

She'd definitely found a latent interest tough, working with the Security team.

Christian looked down at her in confusion.

[ You did not run out of the room. I believe you kept quite a level head especially given the circumstances. That was an admirable job, which I would like to thank you for completing, despite everything that happened. I have no doubt you were working against the affects of suggestion.]

He sighed and continued to explain the problems associated with being a human in the vampire portion of the world.

[Our abilities work against vampires and humans alike but they work far better against the human mind. It is difficult, almost impossible for a human to resist a vampire's abilities. If he had been using command, another ability most often seen in clan Anantya, for instance, I have little doubt you would have done exactly what he told you to do.]

Christian held her a little tighter against the uncomfortable reality of his words.

[Perhaps the benefit of Command is that in most cases the person knows they've been commanded so at least you would know what happened and not believe it any fault of your own. The Suggestion did not work as well because he suggested something for an exterminator and not an agent. His choice of suggestion was not right for you, even totally against what you set out to do. Being a vampire does offer some measure of resistance though the older the attacker the less chance a younger vampire will have against them.]

Perhaps archeology was looking better by now; he would not fault her for wanting to put aside his team and their assignments in order to have less chance of being in another situation like the one today.

[You've expressed a desire to become one of my kind and that is probably a prudent decision in this line of work though certainly not a reason for the choice itself.]

Christian was surprised to find himself nervous, swallowing once, he continued on. He wanted to make it clear why he would choose to do what he was about to propose.

[ If it is still your wish. I would turn you. Assuming that you are comfortable with me as your creator and mentor in our world.]

He smiled at thought of him as anyone's vampiric father. They looked like a very mismatched set light and dark as they were, from very different times and cultures. They did have one thing in common from the beginning, she studied ancient history and he was ancient, or at least old. There was his creator she could learn from as well, a grandfather, one that even looked the part. Christian was amused at the thought of the old man playing any sort of a mentor again but he knew that Grisha would leave that task up to him.

[It is something I would do for you no matter whether you decide to work with the security team or not. You are an asset to Evenhet and Kem is lucky to have someone who cares so much and so are we, no matter where in the clan you go.]

Chris' voice in her head reassured her that he wasn't angry or upset; that she had done a good job, not a poor one. Aishe took in the facts he gave her regarding suggestion and its apparent Anantya counterpart. Remembering the complete futility of having no control and at the thought of having command used on her, she gave a little shiver, but Chris' arms were, for the moment, an effective barrier against the things she did not want to consider. Time for that later. She didn't want to dwell on those things for the moment.

And then she blinked and looked up at him, staring into his very blue eyes. Had he really just told her what she thought he had? That he would turn her? Chris would? For a moment she thought she'd imagined it, but he continued, and he was smiling. It still took a bit to sink in. Chris would make her a vampire... not only that but he would be her mentor.

That floored her, and she pressed her cheek back against his chest for a moment to assimilate the new information. It wasn't that she was hesitant. Hardly; rather she was shocked that he would offer... but contrary to her fears it seemed she hadn't been an abysmal failure on her first (yes, first!) assignment.

Feeling slightly shy suddenly, she tilted her head back and looked at the vampire who had offered such a very great gift. [I would like it if you did that,] she sent back to him, [but I want to stay and work with you, and work for Evenhet. I love my clan. And even if Kem doesn't want me, I want to stay. And do a good job. So that you can be proud of turning me.]

For the moment she put aside what might happen if Kem couldn't be convinced. She didn't think that would happen, had tried not to leave room for fruitless doubts, but if that came to pass, she would still want to work with Chris.

Smiling back up at him, she leaned up and kissed him softly on the cheek. [I'm the lucky one. I will make you proud.]

There was a great deal more to say... she wanted to tell him she knew it might mean being put in that situation again; that it might mean facing her fears many more times. Aishe was ready though, to do that. The first time being over and done with, she found it objectionable and frightening, but she thought she could do it again if she had to.

She wanted to tell him she would do her best to keep being an asset to the clan, because she had to be. He was the Chief of Security. He was trusted, and his decisions had to be sound... she didn't want anyone to question his decision to turn her. She would be the best she could be and hopefully uphold his trust in her.

Words weren't coming just then though. She would say it all later. For now she sniffed into his shirt surreptitiously and just nodded again with resolution... and happiness.
