Sunday Shopping (open)
(( Continued from Arting Around All Day ))
The cabbie stopped in front of Rachyl's apartment building, and the two women got out. As the driver started to rattle off the fare, Rachyl said, "If you wait here six minutes, we'll be right back out, and there'll be a little something extra in it for you."
Hand-in-hand, into the building they ran, then up the stairs and into Rachyl's "ratflat." She dropped off the blanket-in-a-bag, quickly freshened up, then found a pale green blouse for Meegan. "It might be a tad small, but it should fit you."
They ran down to the cab, and made it back within five minutes. "Thanks for waiting," Rachyl said. The drive went quickly.
They stepped out of the cab, and Rachyl tipped the cabbie as she had promised, with a little extra. As they walked in the searing heat towards the entrance, Rachyl commented, "You look cute in my blouse, it's a bit short but I love how it shows off your belly and navel ring. I'm sorry but it's the only color I had clean."
"Well my little good girl, ready to go buy your first Coach bag?"
"These, Rachyl, are Coach bags." Meegan set her shopping bags down by the entrance door, confident they would be safe. She went to a display of light colored leather bags, and began to pick them up and rifle through them.
"Pick one, it doesn't matter. Though for your first a neutral color in a classic style would be best."
"Those are the Signature Classics."
She returned to the leather bags, and picked up two trying to decide between the hobo and demi flap of the SOHO collection. Eventually she decided on the hobo, as it was more likely to match more, and had simplier lines.
She picked one that oddly resembled the curves of Meegan's bottom, in a khaki chestnut color with a pattern reminiscent of shoes or moebius strips. She held it up so Meegan could look at it. "None of the blues came anywhere close to turquoise, so how's this?"
Meegan took both purses to the counter and paid for them with her credit card. The woman placed them in the elegant Coach shopping bag and thanked Meegan for her patronage. As they stepped out of the shop Meegan's stomach growled. She looked down at the watch tied to her wrist with a fat black ribbon and knew why. It had been over four hours since she'd eaten.
"Hungry? There's a little cheesesteak place just down from here, that is almost as good as what you can get in Philly, you just have to over look that I eat mine with a fork."
Meegan had stopped walking and put her hand on Rachyl's arm. "With everything else, it just escaped my mind. If I didn't think they could help him, I would be there pacing instead of out with you."
Meegan looked at her watch again, and did some quick thinking.
"What do you say to a quick dip into another one of these stores for some clothes for tomorrow, and we book a room at the Piazza? They have an in room masseur or masseuse, which ever we prefer. We could order in room service and pamper ourselves silly."
With that, she lifted her hands, palms up, and feigned scrutinizing an imaginary appointment book. "Nope, looks pretty clear, and I don't even have a pencil to write you in. You don't mind spontaneity, do you?" She winked and smiled.
She turned and looked up the remaining row of stores. "What stores are left, and what's tomorrow? And I still want to be with you when you pick up Dill, if that's alright with you. Oh, and as far as the masseuse or masseur, that's up to you. I'm fairly good with my hands..."
"I think I'd like a masseuse. And champagne and strawberries with a great big bubble bath for dessert."
Meegan stepped into DKNY and began to look around for something she could be seen in at work.
She picked up a black linen sleeveless dress. It had a nice embroidered detail and looke about lower calf length. She grabbed the two since it looked like a larger cut, and picked up a pair of sliver strapy heels on her way to the dressing room.
Giggling as Meegan rolled her eyes, she set it back down. In the corner of the store the bodystockings caught her attention. She ran her hand over the mannequin wearing an opaque bodystocking and seriously wondered what she might look like wearing it.
She just wasn't sure she was ready to wear something so... conforming. "Maybe in a few more weeks of exercising..."
She found herself back at Meegan's side. "I can't find anything that draws my attention, really, not that I'd wear right away, anyway."
While Rachyl continued to shop Meegan pulled out her phone and looked up the number for the Piazza on the web, then hit the cool little button that dialed it for her. A smooth voiced man picked up on the third ring.
"The Grand Piazza. This is Reagan. How may I help you?"
"Meegan Masters, Reagan. I need a room for two for tonight. What do you have available?"
"Good afternoon, Miss Masters." Rapid tapping of a keyboard can be heard. "It seems that all of our penthouse suits are occupied. I can offer you our deluxe honeymoon or the presidential." The man gives a soft chuckle. Meegan lifted a brow wondering what that was about. She tapped her finger to her lips trying to remember the rooms.
"The honeymoon suite will do fine. When we arrive, we will have some things that will need to be laundered and dry cleaned, I'll want those in our room by seven. Who is on staff for in room massage, tonight?"
"Angelina, Candy, Bryce, Paul, Lily aaaannnd Margo."
"Are Angelina and Lily available at eight?"
"They are."
"Good, book them for eight for me. Then at ten we'd like champagne and strawberries sent up. Also we'll need two toiletry sets one in vanilla and the other in rose, and two hygiene sets as well in our room when we arrive. What time can we check in." More rapid typing.
"Will four be convienent, Miss Masters."
"Yes Reagan, that will be fine. We will arrive at three to eat, have a corner table ready for us please."
"Yes ma'am. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
"That will be all, thank you Reagan."
"It is my pleasure to serve you, Miss Masters. We look forward to seeing you soon."
Meegan pushed the end call button on her phone and slipped it back into her purse. She turned to Rachyl and smiled.
"Ready?"
She looked up at Meegan, towering over her, embarassment, sadness, and more than a smidgen of overwhelmedness in her eyes. "I'm sure you think I'm hopeless."
