Ramsey's Gallery of Fine Art

The two story ice blue victorian replica sat on the artsy end of the strip. Amid a few antique shops, one Asian artifact gallery and several other art galleries. The whole structure was the art gallery. Inside there were two main downstairs rooms, painted in tastefull creamy gray and lit appropriatly, at the artwork. There was one sweeping staircase that led upstairs to three private showing rooms and an office. Each floor had restrooms, 3 stalls each, done with a pale blue and cream floral paper and cream beadboard.

In the downstairs there was the sunset room, with soft periwinkle fainting couches and even a few arm chairs. The other downstairs room displayed the sunrises with benches of pale pine with soft natural toned silk cusions. There were small tables in both rooms, in the pale pine, discretely placed about with glass tops for people to place their drinks upon.

The stairwell held a reception area, coat closet and fine silk wall coverings in an ancient smokey gray. There was a pine bench and blue armchair as well as some sculpture set on the blocks placed about or attached to the wall for smaller pieces.

Up the stairs lead to a small hallway in the same silken gray that lead to six doors in a small landing area. The bathrooms were clearly marked but the other rooms had doors flung wide open for the event. One housed the darker paintings on its eggplant toned walls. The dark grey striped room held barely a dozen moonscapes. The last showing room held scenes from Nachton on its creamy walls with beadboard base. The office was just that, desk, chairs and a few tables.

Plants were strewn about and hanging from ceilings but never obscuring the paintings. The light pine floors gleamed with polish but the stairs had a pale gray carpet runner.

There was a black velvet rope cordoning off the gallery but the sign outside proudly announced the Galla Black Tie event of the Opening of the Showing of Nyra McGurn at 7:30pm.

Jan grinned and agreed.

"Yeah, its like that. I'm sure we'd all remember exactly what the blazing ball of fire looks like and maybe even have time to say. Oooh, that's pretty before the searing flesh eating pain begins. Still can't help but miss it sometimes."

Jan smirked at his sister's estimation of herself. "The sentimental Tacharan...You're going to make me cry." He mocked sniffed at her and wiped away an imaginary tear before looking over in the direction she indicated. Jan raised his eyebrows in surprise as he saw a familiar face.

With a smile, he walked over to stand next to Amberelle and leaned closer to say.

"So, the music lover enjoys art also. Beautiful but somehow sad isn't it?"

Nova laughed and gave Jan a playful punch on the arm before watching him head over to the blonde. Good of him to break the philosophical moment though; she didn't want to turn out to be one of those people who go to art shows and say a bunch of shit that didn't make any sense. She faked a British accent in her head.

'Oh indeed, Buffy, notice how the light plays off the trees in a symbol of resurrection and hope!'

'Oh but Darling you are wrong, this painting is clearly about the rule of the Government over the common man!'

She bit down on her lip to keep from giggling. It was a sunset for Pete's sake. Then she tilted her head as she took in Jan's approach. He wasn't an unfriendly guy, but it looked like maybe he knew the cute chick. Couldn't hear what they were saying though, no way to be sure.

Connie wandered backwards through the Art House, or rather, wandered through the Art House backwards compared to the list provided in the brochure.

She was kind of surprised that Nyra had put up the reaching nude woman (marked "Reach" on the pamphlet) that she had only just made. Then again, it was a wonderfully optimistic piece.

That didn't have a price tag.

It was the first art gallery showing Connie'd ever been to, and while she had a pretty good idea that these showings were for first-chance purchasers... She had no idea how to go about doing so.

With her clear painted fingernail, she made a mark on the pamphlet next to "Reach" and decided to continue wandering, and would grab Bertrand's attention when possible.

She snuck glances at Nyra, from time to time, mingling, shaking hands firmly with new acquaintances and admirers. It warmed her considerably, even moreso than the hot shower or the near-blinding gallery lights, to know that Nyra had walked into this building on her arm.

Lost in her reflections, her senses didn't pick up Jan's approach until the other vampire was beside her. With a faint intake of breath Amby turned her head and glanced down at the man beside her. A warm smile spread across her face as she met his green eyes.

Ah! Bonjour, mes ami. This is a suprise.. but I suppose it shouldn't be. And oui, she nodded her head at his question, I am indeed an enjoyer of art. Especially the subject matter, you know? She gave him a knowing smile. Are you a fan as well?

((OOC I realized at over 6' in her heels she kind of towers over Jan ATM.. he gets a nice view of her 'siens' at least! ))

Jan smiled up at Amberelle suddenly feeling like a Liliputian in the land of Amazon women. Looking at it from a philosophical point of view, he could always hide behind them if someone entered that he did not wish to see him. Someone really should bring back to heels for men, though he supposed most would consider his current view to have its advantages.

Turning his head to the side and looking down at Amberelle's low cut dress and back up, he grinned.

"Now, this is how I'd expect to see an Anantya. You look lovely. " Turning back to the painting, he said. "Yes, there is something very meaningful about the subject matter for our kind, my sister and I were just discussing that very thing."

Jan gestured to the Amazon he walked in with and smiled at her, beckoning her over with a gesture.

"Amberelle, this is Nova, my darling baby sister. Nova, this is Amberelle, a most engaging member of clan Anantya that happens to have good taste in music."

((OOC: Pretends to pout, but secretly enjoys it ))
Nova 19 years ago
Well well well. Nova raised her eyebrows at her brother, impressed. Jan on good terms with one of what he called 'The Fossils,' and turning on the charm to boot. Funny; she wondered where Jan had found her. She snorted a little at the 'baby sister' remark. Probably people would assume the opposite, that she was the elder of the two, but it wasn't like they looked even a little related in the human sense. It wasn't anything she would get indignant about, and she could understand Jan wanting to make that fact clear right off the bat.

Where are the photographers when you need them? Scrubby Orphans and Moldy Oldies, together at last!

She walked over, swaying a little on unfamiliar heels, and extended her hand. The grin stayed on her face; this could be interesting.

Glad to meet you Amberelle. Good taste in both music -and- musicians; Jan is Nachton's finest you know.

Hey, if Jan got to rub in being the oldest, surely she could get away with a little bragging about her big brother. Only fair.

Connie moved from the reception area up the stairs; she wanted to finish with the sunrises and sunsets.

And as she mounted the fourth step, she felt a tug in her chest. Even though she was still in the same building, she kind of didn't want to leave Nyra on her own.

"Nyra's a big girl. I mean, she's growed up and technically older than you are, so stop bein' a fussynanny and go enjoy yourself."
"But you know I'd enjoy myself if I were near her, too.."
"Give her some space. You saw how she reacted when you lost your towel after the shower... You know the extreme emotion she displayed when you gave her the cards and key... And all before her debut gallery showing in a brand new city! It's all your fault. She needs to cool off."

She ascended the rest of the stairs, growling quietly to herself. Sometimes her mental debate team sounded less like professional debaters and more like a lovesick teenager.

Which, she realized, stopping suddenly at the top of the stairs, was pretty much how she felt.

"Wow." was the only thing she could say to herself as she entered the gallery exhibit for the moonscapes; enhanced in her mind both for the stark realization of her emotions, and for the wide variety of art this woman, this... artisan... could create.

With a slight smile and a flutter of her eyelashes, she acknowledged Jan's compliment with a softly spoken 'Merci'. This was a situation she was completely comfortable in, flirting with a handsome man in such a cultured environment, it was almost second nature. She took a moment to loook over the 'young' man. Mentally nodding, she decided the soft green suited him as did the leather. So few, men especially, could pull it off but the rockstar look was just right on him.

As he turned and called his sister over, her gold eyes took in the woman with a faintly raised eyebrow. For a moment she wondered at the diverse tastes of their sire but brushed the thought aside. Admiring eyes swept over the woman and she smiled warmly as she met Nova's eyes. 'The evening is getting better and better...' Taking the other woman's hand in hers, Amberelle shook it firmly.

Enchanté, Nova. Glancing at Jan, she nodded at the rehead's statement. Oui, I had the pleasure of watching him perform the other night at the House.. Quite the talent. I still need to convince him to give me a more private performance I think.
Bertrand 19 years ago
Mingling amongst his guests made Bertrand a happy man. His artist was speaking to a prominent business man and his wife. She looked as good as her art and just as sweet as a spring day.

Circulating amongst the crowd he nodded and chatted. These functions made him miss his wife all the more. She used to work the crowd as well as he, performing as his assistant. Perhaps he should look for someone to hire to fill that position.

The downstairs looked good, the waiters were discrete, the bar was efficient yet not overly used. Venturing upstairs to check how people were faring. The Nachton room appeared to be full almost to capacity, that was a good sign. Inside the other room, featuring moonscapes, he found just a few people.

Quietly stopping to speak to the couple admiring a ocean scene, he smiled and gave them his card before moving on. The black haired woman was studying one of his favorites.

"Good evening miss. I see you are admiring one of my favorites."
Connie 19 years ago
Out of the corner of her eye, Connie recognized Bertrand. Without changing her focus, she quipped, "You and I both know that, as the esteemed proprietor of the gallery, not to mention in your additional role as salesman, all of the paintings are your favorites."

She turned to him, smiling, eyes sparkling, and extended her hand. "Connie Stone."
Bertrand 19 years ago
Smiling jovilly, he shook the pretty young thing's hand. "Pleasure is all mine Miss Stone, all mine."

He turned fully to look at the picture in front of him. The full moon reflected in a small meadow pool was realistic and sureal at the same time. Very much like the artist herself. The trees were beautiful in their darkness. The light played on leaves and the water well. Serenity was a beautiful piece.

"You never know, this could very well be my real favorite piece. Its very moving in its soft beauty. But I am a salesman and must sell these beauties if possible. You haven't found anything you want to take home, have you?"

He smiled congenially at Miss Stone. He was not about to point out his real favorites as he hoped they didnt sell so he could keep them close. But his happy smile betrayed none of that, he was a very good salesman.
Connie 19 years ago
"Well, I know that I definately want the sculpture 'Reach,' but haven't decided on any of the paintings yet."

Connie guessed as she watched Bertrand appraise the painting before them that he would not have sponsored Nyra's art at his gallery if he didn't find most of her work "palatable," so to speak.

"But I'm taking the best part of the exhibit home with me," she thought.

To Bertrand, she said,
"Shall I make note of those I wish to acquire? Have you a pen? It's one of the few things I don't have in my purse at the moment."
Bertrand 19 years ago
Plucking a gray pen with blue lettering of the Gallery name from his pocket, he offered it to Miss Stone. Wisely he had over a dozen in his coat pocket and a box more in his office. They were good marketing and helpful during things like this.

"Always wise to note what you may want to consider further. Though you should be aware that things may sell quickly. Let me know if you want to put a Reserved or Sold sticker on anything now."

Still smiling, he unconciously patted his inner pocket to verify that he had a handful of the cards available to note just that. A good manager was prepared for the best even when expecting the worst. Of course this artist was fabulous, and modest, making it a pleasure to work with her. He needed to return to her side and continue introducing the movers and shakers to her before she got bored.
Connie 19 years ago
"I do want 'Reach.' So go ahead and mark that as acquired. I shall expedite my choosing and let you know. I assume you'll go back to be with Nyra shortly?"

Connie clicked the pen a couple times to loosen the springs, and tilted her head as she regarded Bertrand.
Bertrand 19 years ago
His eyes twinkling at her protectiveness of her date. "Yes ma'am. I am heading that way now. Cant leave her to the wolves!"

He looked around briefly, seeing if anyone needed anything. "If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. I will beg your pardon now and make my way downstairs to our lovely artist."

With a short bow he ventured down the stairs and began once again reeling people over to speak to his artist.
Connie 19 years ago
Connie could tell that Nyra was in good hands.

She was loathe to hover around Nyra, even though she looked so beautiful in that dress - "Really must tell her that," she thought - and just being near her made her feel exceptional, she didn't want to make the artist even more nervous than she probably already was.

So instead, Connie held the pen and card in the same hand with her purse, and moved into the next exhibition room.

'Tracks' (Nachton Nine) caught her attention... The point of view from the railroad tracks made her think of the constant travel she'd engaged in during her life... She liked it, enjoyed the connotation and revelled quietly in the nostalgia she felt from having been in just about every one of the fifty United States... but something inside her told her not to buy it. Her constantly travelling journey might just be almost over... With a new one, a much different one, about to begin...

Briefly the brain under her refreshed raven locks wondered what Nyra's rendition of Boat House Row in Philadelphia or even the Golden Gate Bridge would look like, and she felt they would be just amazing in their own right. Maybe she could even convince Nyra to go on a road trip... That is, if she stayed past two weeks.

"Stop thinking about it, Connie, and relish the time you have had and will have with her."

Turning on her heel, she moved into the "darker" themed room, weaving in and out of folks streaming up the stairs.
Nova 19 years ago
Nova's eyebrows shot up once again. It was perfectly obvious which 'house' Amberelle referred to.

An Anantya in 'The House,' hmm? She mused over that for a moment. Cool.

Her brother the smooth talker, good for him; Amberelle seemed to take to him if 'private performance' was anything to go on. Still, if they wanted to be left alone she wasn't picking up any hints, and she would just as soon not wander around here to get into trouble on her own. Though of course she also didn't want to be around if things got all icky and flirty between those two. Shrugging and figuring if Jan wanted to get his mack on he'd let her know one way or another, she continued.

Yeah, Jan's quite a performer. She didn't dare look Jan's way lest she snicker and give up the double entendre, instead barreling ahead with her remarks. I wanna see the sunrises now, you guys coming?
Amberelle DeEspionne 19 years ago
I would be delighted to join the two of you.. if your brother doesn't mind? I'd hate to intrude on a familial bonding.. But perhaps he could be convinced to escort two beautiful women, non?Amberelle winked at Nova with a smile.
Connie 19 years ago
Connie entered the final room - the one displaying the remainder of the paintings that weren't sun-related.

The "Miscellaneous" works... Graveyards, trees, flowers... And the striking series named "Duality."

Connie found herself before one of the beach scenes, the sun and moon sharing an equal portion of the sky... One of the pieces she'd told Nyra not the week before - on their first date - that she'd liked very much.

The pen scratched against the card, marking "Duality three."

She descended into the reception area, and picked up the wine glass she'd absentmindedly left there while trying to reassure Nyra.

She caught the artist's eye, and smiled warmly, her eyes promising hugs, then winked and turned into the sunset exhibition room.
Jan 19 years ago
Jan smiled at Amberelle and rolled his eyes at Nova's comment.

"I can only guess what you meant by that -but- I'm going to assume it was something good and had nothing at all to do with some embarrassing moment within the clan that you could possibly tell on me."

He held out and arm for each of them and grinned.

"No, I don't mind at all. I'd say it makes me look like someone important.. two women beside me and all that but I don't think anyone will be paying attention to me in the middle of you both. Just so long as you don't forget I'm here and step on me, we'll be ok."
