A little Thai
((Follows Working Girl Open to any with a craving for Thai.))
Ginnie held the door open for Serena as they stepped into the brisk late night air. She loved this time of night. When this part of the Strip was dead and in just two blocks they would walk into the loud screaming night life of Nachton. She loved to stand on a busy street corner and breathe in the humanity. It kept her...grounded.
She pulled her hat down more firmly over her hair, to keep it from blowing away, and zipped her jacket about half way up, high enough to block the wind but low enough so that she could draw her gun. Not that she needed to worry all that much, vampire hunters didn't exist anymore, but one never knew when one would need to put a bullet between some chucklehead's eyes.
They turned the corner on to the main drag of the Strip and the noise and smell of the city's busiest street hit her like a mac truck. She turned a smiling face to her companion.
"It's amazing how many people don't have to work tomorrow."
I love you guys' music! Have to admit, I'm not one of those music fans who knows the band members names and memorizes a bio on 'em. For anyone really..Damn this is cool! What are you doing here in Nachton? Serena couldn't help the huge grin on her face, and a small part of her shook her head at her own 'fangirl'-ness.
Normally Drev preferred to stay hidden, unknown when he went out if public. But he couldn't deny that it was a great feeling when, in that single instant of recognition, their face literally lights up. He can remember being on the other end of celebrity meetings. Hell, when he'd first met Rob Zombie, Drev had been barely more than a blathering idiot.
And he can also remember meeting celebrities and being completely blown off by them. He had a huge pet peeve about that. Afterall, if it wasn't for people like Serena - and even himself - who by the albums (or movies, books, etc), people like him wouldn't have their fame and fortune.
Well, Drev would still have his fortune, but that's beside the point. The point is that Drev always tried to do his best to be courteous and friendly to his fans.
"Thank you," Drev says, still chuckling lightly. "To be honest, I never feel comfortable around those super-fans that seem to know more about me than I do. We played a show here a couple years ago; the crowd was great, really got into it. I got a taste of the night life, and really had a good time. So when the band dissolved, I decided Nachton would be as good a place as any to set down some roots.
"I was only here for a couple weeks - during which I met an attractive woman with a passion for explosives," he continued with a sidelong glance at Ginnie, "and then I was yanked back on tour with the band. We thought we could do another tour, but it didn't work out. We closed the bus for good this time, and here I am again. "
"If you're looking for something to do, I know a guy who knows a guy." Her face settled into a sarcastic grin, and she played with the condensation on her water glass.
"What makes you think I'm looking for something to do?"
He thought about tweaking her nipple with a phantom finger, but decided against it. She'd think he's being an asshole, instead of just playful. The two of them could have so much fun, and Serena would never even know it. But there's that stick in Ginnie's ass that seems to be in the way....
She was distracted from her game of 20 questions when the waitress returned for their orders. Trusting Ginnie, she ordered the curry shrimp and waited for the others to order. Once they were all done she'd have to see what his reply would be. 'Maybe he'll be in town for a while, that would be cool.'
"I've thought about going solo - everyone else thinks I should - but nothing's going to happen in the near future. I'm just gonna lay low for a while, I think. I just bought a new condo and don't feel like selling it yet." Drev winked at Serena and smiled again - he was finding it awfully easy to smile at her.... "Think I might take up Bonsai," he added and took a sip of ice water.
Deciding she liked these spring rolls but wasn't too crazy about that sauce, she chose a different one and took a more dainty bite. She found it much sweeter and more complimentary, earning a "mmm!" and a happy nod. Try this one, that sauce really is good. Bonsai.. interesting. Not what you'd picture for a rock star but I guess if you have a nice sunny place they could grow well. You'd have to keep them indoors I'd guess, being up north and all She peered at him with a thoughtful look for a moment.
Are you one of those guys who's all wild on stage but mild mannered at home..? 'If so what a waste..' she finished in her head.
(( OOC she does eat rather like a carefree tomboy.. hopefully she keeps to her own plate *sigh* ))
"Mmm... that is good." He took a moment to chew and swallow so he didn't appear too much of a slob. "Actually, you're supposed to expose your bonsai to the elements - at least a little bit. They are real trees, afterall, and need to experience the warmth of summer and the cold of winter. But of course you can't just put it out in the snow for three months."
You're babbling again Drev....
He leaned forward to dip the roll again, beginning to wonder why Ginnie was being so quiet. She didn't seem like the quiet-type the last time they'd met....
"Are you one of those guys who's all wild on stage but mild mannered at home..?"
Drev couldn't help the grin from growing on his lips.
"It depends who my company is..."
Ginnie was taking a drink of water when this particular jewel was uttered. She snorted into her cup causing the water to splash back into the glass, and up her nose, down her front. This in turn caused her to begin to choke on the water that had gone up her nose. She managed to set her cup down, as her lungs tried to forcibly remove the liquid invasion. She leaned forward and began to beat on her chest as she continued to cough. When her lungs seemed satisfied with their handy-work, she flopped back against the seat back, breathing hard.
"I think I'm allergic to innuendo." She croaked, before giving a weak cough.
Settled back in the seat now, she grinned at Drev a sec before picking up one of the chicken bamboo skewers. Scooping some of the cucumber relish onto the curried meat she drizzled a little sauce on and managed to balance it all neatly as she carried it to her mouth for a bite. Again nodding approvingly, she gave them a thumbs up and munched happily on the rest.
After a couple more bites and a few, obviously sarcastic, glances to make sure Ginnie didn't choke again, she set down the cleaned off skewer.
So what do you like to do for fun, besides raise little trees?
"Oh, lots of things... I like to read, watch movies... um... practice my sword work... but mostly I think I like to watch people. Sometimes I'll go to the mall, sit in the food court, and just watch people interact. It probably sounds creepy, but I find it fascinating for some reason."
Drev shrugs slightly and drops his eyes to where one hand fidgets with the base of his water glass. The phantom hand on Ginnie's back is now slow and strong on her back. After a moment longer, he gives her a couple light pats as if to say, 'all better...' and then the phantom hand is gone.
((Ginnie's nod by permission))
She took a careful sip of her water and decided that being quiet for the moment was probably her best bet. To help she took another spring roll from the plate and dipped it into some red sauce she couldn't remember the name of.
Have either of you guys ever been skydiving? There's this outfit in Tennessee that's setting up night HALO jumps and I'm thinking about going on one for my next vacation.. looks really cool.
((OOC She's talking about this. Me(afraid of heights) : *gulp* Her : oooooooooooo yeeeeaaahhh ))
'Once without the benefit of a parachute,' he added silently to himself. The sounds of bones snapping still made him cringe.
"Is it a regular pasttime of yours?"
Just then, the waitress returned with their entrees, and asked if they'll be needing anything else. Drev spoke up and asked for another pitcher of ice water. The small woman nodded and slipped back into the kitchen.
The steaming plate in front of Drev smelled good, in a weird way. He pushed up the sleeves of his white shirt and waited for the girls to begin eating before he'd pick up his own fork.
"I did a base jump off a forty storey building once, talk about a rush." She grinned around the succulent bit of bird in her mouth, making a small sound of satisfaction in the back of her throat.
After taking a deep whiff of the shrimp, she took a bite and tilted her head to the side, obviously studying the flavors as she chewed. When that bite was done, she nodded and took a big sip of water. Ahhh.. Delish, nice and spicy!
So Ginnie, what else do you like to do? Ever get into any street racing?
"Acctually no, I have this fear of being crushed by two tons of metal, also I have a penchant for cute little things. Right now I drive a green Volkswagon Beetle"
In fact she loved that little car. It was her favorite in what had sadly been a long line of cars. She like the cute cars, but she was notorious for crashing said cars into sationary objects.
Drev looked up. "It is quite cute," he interjected, as if Ginnie's statement needed validation, then went back to eating.
Honestly, I'm really more of a bike person I think. My pride and joy right now has won me quite a few bucks. But I've put a lot of work into really pimping it out. Grinning at them, she wondered if either of them were race fans.
