A little Thai
((Follows Working Girl Open to any with a craving for Thai.))
Ginnie held the door open for Serena as they stepped into the brisk late night air. She loved this time of night. When this part of the Strip was dead and in just two blocks they would walk into the loud screaming night life of Nachton. She loved to stand on a busy street corner and breathe in the humanity. It kept her...grounded.
She pulled her hat down more firmly over her hair, to keep it from blowing away, and zipped her jacket about half way up, high enough to block the wind but low enough so that she could draw her gun. Not that she needed to worry all that much, vampire hunters didn't exist anymore, but one never knew when one would need to put a bullet between some chucklehead's eyes.
They turned the corner on to the main drag of the Strip and the noise and smell of the city's busiest street hit her like a mac truck. She turned a smiling face to her companion.
"It's amazing how many people don't have to work tomorrow."
"I like motorbikes for one thing, they are easy to hide." She sipped her water, and thought about the last time she'd been on a motorcycle. The memory made her smile.
"I don't have any desire to be in a race, but I love to watch, well drag races. I do not understand the draw nor the point of races like the Indy 500. Other than waiting to see who crashes and if they walk away."
"I'd be happy to give you a ride on my bike, if you'd be so inclined."
I like watching the funny cars, but those actually are something I don't think I'd try. I could fall asleep watching NASCAR. Heck, I *have*.. but I am a fan of motorcross. Maybe I have ADD but I only like it hard and fast.. races I mean. She grinned a little and wiggled her eyebrows in a playfully suggestive manner.
She perked up a bit at Drev's offer. Oh, cool. What kind of bike do you have?
Drev couldn't help the grin from curling his lip and the mischievous sparkle from twinkling in his light eyes. 'I can give you hard and fast,' he commented to himself.
"Well, it started out as a Harley Softtail, but it's been customized beyond the point of recognition." Drev took one final bite of his dinner and put the fork down, wiped his mouth, and set the napkin on top of the fork. "Now I just call it a monster," he added with a smirk, and took a sip of water to wash down the last of his dinner. "If you don't have a ride, I could drop you off at home... or wherever you'd intended to go after this." His eyes flicked to Ginnie then back... What had you girls had in this evening? he wondered. Probably nothing, but then Drev's mind was wont to wander toward the gutter.
"R&D, Kavanagh, please hold."
She gave the Serena and Drev a look of apology and pulled an elegant little wrist purse from her coat pocket and pulled several bills from inside, and laid them on the table.
"Work calls, guys. Sorry to cut this short. Enjoy your bike ride, Serena, it's an experience."
She gave the woman's leg a pat and slid from the booth. She gave Drev a quick little peck on the cheek and turned to head out the door.
((Ginnie out pending responses and heading to Gainful Employment 2))
"Take it easy, hun. Give me a call sometime if you want..." He had given her his cell phone number, right...?
No problem, have fun.. Oh, and I'll email you the details for that skydiving trip. Should be cool. She watched her walk away a moment before turning her attention back to Drev.
Well now that we're alone.. Rena gave him a lecherous grin and then chuckled. I'd love to check out your bike sometime. Right now I'm just on a 'lunch' break, but I get off at 6. We could get some breakfast then, ride down by the pier.. I know a neat diner around there. Has a great view of the sunrise on the water.
Drev glanced down, picked up the bills Ginnie had left on the table, and handed them to Serena. "Give that back to her, next time you see her," he said with a smile. He reached into his back pocket, pulled out his chained wallet, and left more than enough to cover the bill twice over. Once the wallet was stuffed back in his pocket, he took a pen from another pocket and began writing on a napkin.
"This is my cell phone... give me a call when you're ready?" Still smiling, Drev took a moment to take in all of her features as he handed her the napkin. This could prove to be an interesting day....
Taking the money from Drev she slipped it into a pocket with a giggle. I'll send it to her in an interoffice envelope, she can't refuse it then! Taking the napkin from Drev, she folded it carefully and placed it into her pocket with Ginnie's cash. I will.. should be around a quarter after 6, plenty of time before sunrise to get there.
Digging in her other pocket, she pulled out a pack of gum and removed a piece. 'Cool, don't want dragon breath.' Holding it out, she offered the pack to Drev. It's spearmint..!
"Sorry, I'm addicted to these things," he said with an embarassed smile and slid out of the booth. He took a moment to stretch his arms and back, then held a hand out to help Serena. He had a suddenly strong urge to do very unwholesome - but fun - things with her.... Hopefully she wouldn't notice the sparkle that's surely in his ice-blue eyes....
S'okay, mints are yummy too.. I just like to annoy people by smacking my gum.
Turning towards the door she started to make her way out, stopping to grab a take home menu from the front counter first. Serena grinned when she saw they did deliveries. "This is truly my lucky night..." Walking out the door there was a definite spring in her step. She stopped on the sidewalk just outside and waited for Drev.
Looking around, she noticed the strip was still crowded, probably even more so now that a lot of the bars were closing. Watching a couple of the more inebriated wander past she snorted and snickered. Shaking her head, she turned and gave Drev a lopsided grin when he came out.
So, I'll call you in a couple hours when I get off and I can give you directions then. Sound cool?
Suddenly, that insidious hunger flared up in his mind as he watched her. The hunger for blood was suprisingly strong. It was a good thing they were about to part company - he really didn't want to ruin a friendship before it began. Besides, he'd have a couple hours to satiate the blood hunger before he saw her again. Then everything would be cool.
"Sounds great," he said with a smile. He tried not to look at the delicate lines and shadows of her neck. Instead, he flashed her his best wink. "I'll be looking forward to it," he said as he turned to walk away before that damned hunger could overpower his thoughts.
((Drev out, pending Serena's departure))
'Would you look at that.. my little nugget is dating now...how sweet' he thought with a sneer.. 'this will not do, no this won't do at all' his darkest mental voice spoke from the depths of his conscience..
"Time to begin it seems" he said to himself with a vicious smile..
((ooc: Winter out, following Serena...))
Once she'd stepped off the strip and onto a side street she danced her way along for a minute, with a little hop, slide and shimmy before letting herself giggle out loud. 'Good grief I probably look like an iPod commercial.' That thought started her giggling all over again.
Suddenly eager to get back to work so the day would be over sooner, she broke into a jogging run and made her way back to the front doors. Swiping in at the after hours entrance Rena waved at the security camera and headed back to her desk to send Ginnie her money. The scientist was going to be annoyed, good thing she wouldn't be in ear shot then!
((OOC Serena out, lock up please! ))
