Ger Kogji Party - Lanai
Now that you have entered the party and been greeted at the door, please feel free to step out onto the lanai. This is essentially a huge glass walled room where the pool, spa, koi pond and many seating arrangements are. There is a bar set up near the seating with a very helpful bartender named Frank making just about anything you could ask for. There is a tropical band playing in one of the larger open areas near the limbo pole.
The area is lush with plants, lit with tiny lights creeping up the support beams and in the water features. The pool houses several floating blooms at the moment so swimming would be frowned upon. There are two security guards dressed to match Dave manning the door off the lanai. Both are tall, muscular and vampire. Pestering either of them, Gestal or Stephan, seems like a daunting task. Thank you.
((This thread is for the party guests that wish to make their ways out into the warm porch to enjoy the sights, sounds and scents.))
"I'm thinking my money would be on Dawn. But I'm not sure she'd play by the rules."Â?
He debated starting a limbo pool and decided Ambrerelle and Dawn he'd catch up with in a second as they seemed engaged at present. However, it gave him a chance to return Alex's nod and order drinks. For Dayle he ordered 'any thing with an umbrella in it' and half shrugged an apology to the bar tender. If he'd been given such and order the results would have been inventive. Belle he ordered sangria and he stuck to whiskey.
Passing on the stool, he stood next to Belle, obviously slightly protective, but not ignoring Dayle.
"Alex, good to see you again. This is Ysabel and Dayle Yolgrave."Â?
He presented each of the twins in turn, making it obvious who was who hoping to avoid any confusion later on.
"Ladies, Alex West."Â?
Normally his manners would have been quite so good, but with Belle right there he did tend to make a bit more of an effort.
"A rare pleasure to be sure." said Alexander as he straightened and adjusted the knotted blue cord that served as a belt.
"I feared that I would not know anyone here tonight at this soiree, and was gladdened to see Ambrose again. And I am further gladdened that he has such elegant company with him."
Alexander nodded to the bartender who quickly made another drink for him.
Alexander picked up his drink and looked at Ysabel with a smile.
"I was reliably informed by Mr. Graves that you are the one to speak to about the horses stabled at the manor, Miss Ysabel?"
"I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I'm really just so happy and excited to see you. Ask Ana, I've been driving her insane with questions...where is Aishe...what has she been doing...when can we all get together..."
Though exuberant, Fallon did tone her voice down to a little more than a loud...very loud whisper. But with the background music playing she didn't think her actions would bother anyone.
Squatting down in front of the two women, tucking her sarong under the backs of her knees so it wouldn't flop open, Fallon put a hand on both women's knees to steady herself.
"I'm not interrupting am I??? Oh Aishe, you look so good! Is it Kem? Are you two together, all past issues resolved?" Catching herself, Fallon realized she wasn't giving her friend time to speak.
"Doesn't she look good Ana? And you do too! You both look so festive and tropical...I just love your outfits, and Kem...Oh my gosh...poor Cyrus. You have to forgive him, he can be a little overly concerned sometimes, and isn't always used to today's styles or manners...Oh my god you look radiant!"
Blushing, Fallon did stop talking then. She had so many things to say, but remembered this might not be the time or place. It was just that after not seeing her sister for so long, she couldn't seem to stop herself.
"I'm so sorry. It's been a very long few months, but so worth it." She beamed at Fallon as she tried to determine which of her 'sister's' questions she should address first. "I'm not sure everything is entirely resolved, but the biggest roadblocks are out of the way," she said, knowing Fallon would understand the hidden meaning there, even as Ana had (a fact which had surprised her a little at first, but not so much once she realized exactly how much Ana and Fallon had been seeing of each other).
They would have the chance to get together whenever Fallon wanted now, and as her friend bounced to the topic of costumes, Aishe had to laugh. "I couldn't resist the coconuts," she admitted. "How often does a girl get to wear a coconut bra out in public? And as for Kem, I'm wholly responsible for the shirt. He's an awfully good sport."
There was too much to talk about right here, right now, but Aishe figured they would all be seeing a great deal more of each other from now on. "You both have to come to my place at some point," she said, remembering that when they'd last seen each other, it was most certainly her turn to play hostess. "And I'll tell you all about everything that's been happening."
The urge to open up and pour her entire story to her friends was overwhelming, but there was a better time and place for such things. Besides, it would be rude for Aishe to consume all of Fallon's time at her party, no matter how much she wished to.
To see Fallon approaching them first, out of all the arrived guests, gave Ana a bit of a lift in spirits - floating high as she was with the high praise from Aishe as well as the overwhelming affection her friend seemed to display for her man - and she giggled as the teacher squished the three of them together in a group embrace. Fallon's assertion about driving Ana insane with questions was answered with, "Not quite insane. Maybe from here to Tallahassee and back, but not insane."
Ana found her mind whirling at the rapid-fire questions and comments directed at the attached woman, but couldn't help smiling as she knew Fallon was simply spouting a lot of the same she herself had gone through not minutes before. She did blush at the compliment from her friend; she hadn't been exactly sure what consisted 'tropical dress' so she had chosen something 'beachy' but a bit more modest.
Snickering at Aishe's comment about wearing a coconut bra out in public, Ana responded, "Not so often, actually. Come to think of it, you probably don't see clam-shell bras all that often either, though if this were an 'Enchantment Under the Sea' type party, I'd maybe sorta possibly consider the opportunity for such a daring outfit myself." She winked at her two friends, hoping they knew that while she might consider it, she'd have to either have drunk something or have a bit more self-confidence to actually go through with such an out-of-character outfit.
"Yes!" Ana exclaimed raspily to the prospect of hanging out at Aishe's, "Slumber party at Aishe's! With ice cream and pee-jays and all! Ice cream'll be my treat. And then we can catch up. Or mustard or mayo, but it won't matter because we'll all be together."
When Ambrose ordered 'anything with an umbrella in it' she arched a brow at her sister's lover and nodded her thanks. 'Anything with an umbrella' sounded tropical, and perhaps the bartender - if he was worth his salt - would give her something enjoyably different than her customary ale.
Turning a womanly smile to Ysabel when Ambrose stood almost protectively next to her, she nodded at the introduction to the new gentleman. "Alex."
She sighed inwardly at the instant turn to horses; Ysabel was always famous in her circles with her horses. Dayle had never usually sought out the beasts, even when they were the popular mode of transportation. The Iron Horse, however, was a tremendous difference. Nostalgia perked up her mood a bit as she remembered long rides on the train about the English countryside... At least the memories helped drown out any possible equine-centric babble her sister would share, though she hoped she didn't space out too much and look bored.
Instead, she glanced slowly around the room, taking in the myriad of faces. Only a handful were recognizable as Tacharan, which actually surprised her; she hadn't expected really to see any others of her clan at the party. But the Vampire social world being as small as it seemed...
"I'm glad to hear your time away from us allowed you to do what you had to do. But I'm even happier now that you've accomplished that and can be with us again." Unable to stop hugging, she again squeezed the two women together.
"Coconuts and clam shells...you two are too much. I don't think I know anyone else who could pull off such a thing. And Ana, I'm sure you could pull it off...after seeing you in that stunning dress the last time we went to dinner." Fallon's opinion of her bespeckled friend held slightly more confidence than her friend held for herself. Yet Fallon truly believed Ana would come into her own fully with just a little more time, and possibly the attentions of a person with eyes for only her. Fallon had blossomed under those circumstances, and even Aishe, who didn't really need that sort of help, seemed even 'more' now that she had Kem. All three women were perfect on their own, but having that someone in their lives only enhanced who they were.
"You know I'd love to see your place, and hear 'everything', and a slumber party...with a tickle-fest would be the best." Nudging Ana and slyly winking her way, Fallon grinned with the thought of 'their' last slumber party. But then she looked back to Aishe again, and became a bit more sober.
"Just please don't let too much time pass by before hand...and PLEASE don't disappear like that again...I can't help it but I worry." Bringing her frown back to a smile, she stroked both women's arms before standing up again.
"You guys have fun now, okay? Dinner will be served shortly, and I'll be back before too much time goes by. I really want to see more of your Kem...and I'll bring Cyrus with me next time. I can't think of anyone I'd like him to get to know better tonight, if we can arrange it." The idea of Aishe and Kem, and Cyrus and Fallon, becoming the closest of friends was an idea Fallon wanted to see come to fruition. Having another couple to do things with seemed so...normal...so everyday, and no matter how unusual her life was, there were times she longed for normalcy...something she'd experienced so little of in her life.
It took a lot of effort to leave their sides, but Fallon did have other friends to catch up with, even if none of them were as important to her. So she kissed each woman on the cheek and looked for Suki. Meeting her fellow was next on Fallon's agenda.
(ooc - Fallon out here and back to the Love Abounds thread)
It was an immense relief when she heard Shay's voice, since that gave her a graceful out from Dawn's demands. With almost too much enthusiasm the taller blonde returned the writer's quick hug. When Shay introduced him, the Anantya eyed Mathias for a moment and nodded faintly. The human's adoration was just as evident tonight as it had been when they spoke last. And from what body language passed between them, he seemed to return it. That got him a warmer smile in greeting.
Of course, how could I forget.. Mathias, a pleasure. She curtsied slightly to his bow.
Laughing softly, she just gave the couple a grin and a slight shrug, neither admitting guilt in Shay's shoe purchase nor denying it. After all, you really couldn't blame her, she thought, a woman needs new shoes all the time!
Turning towards Dawn slightly, she motioned between them as she introduced her clanmate. This is a.. cousin, Dawn Ratana. She just moved here from California not long ago. Dawn this is Shay O'Mannon and her beau, Mathias.. she paused, not remembering his last name, if it had ever been given.
"Funny but I was just thinking maybe we should start to think about getting a larger place. Cyrus and Fallon's home is so gorgeous...and much bigger than anything we would need, but maybe something with an extra closet anyway?" Winking at Amberelle, Shay turned her face towards Alexi and wrinkled her nose, as if to let him know his concerns would now be used against him.
"Even though I thoroughly enjoyed shopping with Amberelle...I'm afraid you're stuck with a woman who can do sufficient damage all on her own love."
Her hand left his, as her arm moved around his waist, and Shay rubbed his back a couple times. For all his protestations about not being very social, Shay never found Alexi wanting. He met and conversed with Amberelle just as he always did, with gallantry, and a sincerely friendly demeanor.
When Amberelle introduced Shay and Alexi to the cute girl with the lively colored hair, Shay turned slightly to create a space so all four could see each other.
"Alexandrei...Mathias Alexandrei." Shay finished for Amberelle, before smiling at Dawn.
"How nice it is to meet you Dawn, especially being a cousin of Amberelle's." Shay held out her hand to Dawn, all the while not believing for a minute that Dawn was a cousin to her friend. Not that it would be impossible, since cousins were often times far enough removed to not resemble each other. Yet Shay would have bet money the term cousin was more a euphemism for clan mate.
"Coincidentally I am from California and a recent transplant as well. I was even on the LAPD for a while. What part of California are you from?" Shay mentioned the LAPD for a couple reasons. One to give reference to the part of California she hailed from, and two, because often people mistook her for some hot house flower. Whether it was successful or not, she felt by mentioning her time as a cop, a more accurate portrait might be painted of her. Now she waited to see what to make of the colorful younger girl.
"Ex-LAPD, huh? Hopin' y'came t'yer senses an' quit'em 'fore they took yer soul. I was born'n El Monte, but lived all over down there, what. My mom was a bitta th'black sheep'a th'ol' De'Espionne clan, an' hookt up wit' my pops who was...well, familiar with y'all in th' red'n blue light specials. Had a lotta run-ins, my older brothers did. Hell, I did too, even tho'i'd never done any wrong."
Grinning broadly, Dawn chuckled.
"Say, wanna buy a bridge? For sale, cheep! Freshly painted red, jus' ou'side SF...jus' playin. I do'ope ya retired tho. Fer Mister Alexandree's sake. Cops make tough lovers wit th'odd hours an' whatnot. But I guess a lotta peeps gots odd hours, what?"
Having managed to amuse at least herself, she figured theur reactions would be a good gage of the people before her.
Glancing quickly around the room over the rim of her glass she saw Ysabel with Ambrose at her side, just down the bar and was instantly happy for her friend, since it seemed the couple had ironed out the problems they'd been having when the two women had met. And there was the Englishwoman's twin.. "Quite interesting, I can't wait to meet her." A well sculpted eyebrow arched faintly with curiosity when she saw their mysterious benefactor walk back up and begin conversing, obviously familiar with at least one of her clanmates.
The tone of Dawn's voice drew her attention back fully. Nodding vigorously as her 'cousin' proclaimed herself the black sheep of the family, Amby took another sip of her drink and just kind of shook her head faintly with a smile as Dawn tried to hawk a national landmark.
Sitting on the stool at he bar, she couldn't return Alexander's bow with an appropriate curtsey, but she did as well as she could with a nod of her head and a bright smile. "A pleasure, Mr. West," she said as they were introduced.
The gentleman immediately questioned Ysabel about Heolfor's stable, and her smile only grew; nothing could pique her interest or earn her approval faster than a marked interest in horses. She gave a regretful shake of her head. "I am only the one to speak to in the sense that I've recently moved my own saddle horses to Heolfor," she said. "If you're looking to do so yourself, the person you want to speak to is George..." she stopped and gave another rueful chuckle. "I'm sorry, I can't even recall his last name. You can normally find him at the barn in the early morning, however. I spoke with him when I had my horses shipped from England."
Ambrose had mentioned doing some work with Alex, but he hadn't said anything to her regarding the nature of that association. Ysabel didn't want to pry; if Ambrose hadn't told her then she wasn't going to go sticking her nose in things.
"Have you been in Nachton long, Mr. West?" She upheld the formalities instead, running on the assumption that if Alex was looking into stabling for horses, then he could very well be a recent arrival to Nachton as she and Dayle were.
((ooc: Permission to drop George's name from the Anantya PTB))
"I am reccently departed from London. Business affairs concluded there. And opened here, as they say."
Alexander smiled. "I have always taken some comfort in riding. A gentleman's pastime, an officer's expectation, and far later a reminder that some simple pleasures will never go out of style."
He sighed wistfully. "Would that I had the time to bring over horses from England. But as America is the land of opportunity, one can but hope that I will find a worthy steed here."
"But enough about my equine wants. I would willingly risk Ambrose's displeasure to pass comment on how delightful you and your sister appear tonight. Would that I had the company of two such beautiful creatures on either arm tonight."
Alexander bowed slightly.
"Are you both new to Nachton, or reccent arrivals like myself?"
He toyed with is drink and kept casual contact with his lover, no call letting any one accidentally get the wrong idea.
“I’m sure there’s something out here that’ll meet your requirements. Damned fine horses to be had.”
All of his horses had been American bred and Ambrose had never had any complaints.
He then settled back into let the trio of Brits chatter. He wasn’t much good at parties, preferring to listen than engage in conversation in most cases.
"I'm very familiar with El Monte, in fact it used to be that almost every night we'd troll the ten to the six-o-five at least once. I can't say I recall having any run ins with any Ratana's though. And I can tell by looking at you, you're the epitome of innocence." Shay teased back, hoping the younger girl knew it.
"As much as I love San Francisco, I think I'll let you keep the Golden Gate...I don't really have a lot of liquid assets at the moment, and living in Nachton now, I'd not be able to see to it's upkeep very easily."
Glancing at Alexi, Shay wondered what his thoughts on the brash young woman were, but would obviously need to wait a while before finding out.
"To put your mind at ease, no, I'm no longer part of the force. I decided a more sedate career was to my liking, and left the boys in blue last year. Mathias has no concerns about my hours, trust me. As it turns out he has a rather odd schedule himself. We're lucky though...we managed to find ways to work around it."
Squeezing Alexi's hand, she nodded at the bartender when he asked what she wanted to drink.
"Two Stoly's please." And when the chilled glasses of vodka were set on the bar between Dawn and Amberelle, Shay took them both, handing one to her sweetie. Then tilting her glass towards his, Shay took a sip of the clear liquid. Though she more often than not drank scotch, she had started drinking vodka when with Alexi, as a matter of convenience. She also found she enjoyed the crisp, lightness of the Russian liquor, and now considered it a nice change from the heavier, dark amber drink she was so fond of.
"And now that you've relocated to Nachton as well, are you going to the university?"
"Well love,I think I still have a card or two from realtor's when we first met.."
His voice trailed off, fondly remembering his first days with Shay, her offer in looking for a place to live and the travails they endured to reach this moment. It had been difficult, and painful - but in the end this was where he and Shay were meant to be.
Ambrielle's cousin Dawn was an...interesting...sort. He had no trouble understanding her - in his time doing work for the organistya the chance to meet many..interesting..folks had occured.
"El Monte you say? My times out west tended to keep me up north near the bay,but I did manage to come to LA once in a while. El Monte flores still think the run the streets there?"
Unaware if Dawn actually knew any of the infamous gang members,Mathias was reasonably sure that a resident of the town would at least know of the gang. The last time he was out in LA, 10 years ago ro so - it had been to eliminate a leader in Surenos, an alliance of chicano gangs and to blame their rivals in Nuestros.
Mathias nodded at Shay's descriptions of their schedules - his new duties assisting Alec had played havoc with their time together as had her traveling recently..but their were trying to make it work.
"Yes,my duties at Duibne Industries demand a certain flexiility in schedules - which m,y dear Shay is kind enough to accomodate. What is it you ladies do, if I may be so bold as to ask?"
He kept his words careful, already knowing about Ambrielle he wondered if her..cousin was also Anantya.
Thanking Shay for the vodka,he raised the glass and gave a toast.
"To your health!"
Ana's enthusiasm and optomism were contagious as well, and Aishe was laughing at the idea of mustard and mayo in ice cream by the time Kem returned with the promised drinks, carrying three glasses quite effortlessly. That minor observation reminded her of her near-tragic slip with the vase, and as she accepted her cherry coke she eyed it as if expecting it to float into her hand, but it did not.
"What day... or night, should I say, works best for you Ana?" She was more than eager to arrange a date with her friends, and wanted to catch up with them as quickly as possible.
To Kem, who had settled himself back in the chair next to Aishe's with his usual quiet presence, she sent with light humor, [You have to admit she had you there. One of these days we'll work on how well you handle surprises.]
The answering snort into a glass of beer was enough even without the wry response. Playing dumb for the time being, Aishe merely continued to smile at Ana. "And shall we do the slumber party with PJs and all or do you want to do something fancier, like dinner out? Personally the PJs sounds like lots of fun. I can borrow Kem's bunny slippers."
She very much hoped Fallon didn't mind their making plans without her; obviously she was to be a part of it, but the coming up with what to do was just as fun. They had plenty of time though to make lots and lots of hang-out plans.
"You tell me when it works for you," Ana said understandingly, "as I have a decent amount of pull now in the scheduling at the library and can swap days as I need. I jockeyed myself to work two Sundays hence to pull tonight off... Which I really don't mind. Sundays are either slow, or moderately brisk, depending on the college semester."
Sipping from her tea, which had a tropical mango punch to it, she considered Aishe's questions. "Well depending on how crazy we want to get, we could do both - start with an elegant night in dinner dresses, and upgrade to PJs with bunny slippers, hair ties, and ice cream, or we can do them on different nights, even on different weeks, with how ... varied our schedules are." With another sip, she provided her final answer: "I'd rather do the slumber party first. Call me weird."
Half expecting someone to actually say 'Okay, Weird,' she sipped slowly from her drink. A thought overcame her slow thoughts and she looked at Kem saying, "But won't your feet be cold, loaning out your bunny slippers like that? Maybe we can get you some Daffy slippers or something to help your frostbitten tootsies keep themselves safe and toasty."
Maneuvering back to Aishe and Ana, drinks in hand, Kem arrived back at their trio of chairs to see Fallon leave and to catch something about mustard on ice cream... maybe he should have stayd around to hear the end result of the bridge auction.
Aishe's voice in his head was gently teasing and he gave a wry snort at her and responded, [You've got to admit, I've been batting zero on surprises lately. First my girlfriend turns into a bloodsucking undead monster, and then she somehow bats her big green eyes and poof, I'm in a shirt I wouldn't wish on my best friend.]
It was bantered with the same light humor, however, as Aishe's teasing had been to begin with. There was no way Aishe could miss his displeasure, if he had been displeased, not with their emotions so very obvious to each other.
For now he was content to stretch his crossed legs out in front of him and contemplate his feet, and how they might like a pair of bunny slippers. Ana was begging for the obvious, so with an air of amusement he simply said, "I don't actually own any bunny slippers, Wierd. But if you need some, I can arrange for it. I have friends in high places."
With that, he flipped his obnoxiously large sunglasses open and slipped them on with a smug hit-man expression.
The lanai seemed to be teeming with activity, and Fallon couldn't have been more elated. A bit of her nervousness dissipated with the confirmation that people seemed to be enjoying themselves. After all, wasn't that the worry of all hostesses? Her fear of people sitting around quiet, and bored was removed, and with that went the bulk of her worry.
She went into the kitchen and spoke to the caterers who were still putting on a few last touches to the dishes they were about to put out. The dining room of Ger Kogji was normally set up for a party of ten, but was easily transformed to serve thirty. There were place cards spread about for twenty four, but room for more should anyone else show up. Fallon wouldn't have turned anyone away, even if they hadn't 'RSVP'd'.
Checking the dining room next, she had placed Cyrus at the far end, and then placed herself at the opposite end. She had gone round and round in her mind about where to place both Mai and Sorin, and at one point had Mai sitting at the end opposite Cyrus. However, not wanting to slight either elder, she wound up placing them on opposites sides of Cyrus, and herself at the far end from him. If she couldn't sit close, at least she could see him all throughout dinner.
The flowers, china, and crystal made the table appear truly elegant, and Fallon beamed just a little thinking this was her home, and she was about to sit down to a fabulous dinner with loved ones and friends. Even the appearance of the kitten, cleaning itself in the corner of the room did nothing to disrupt her feeling of elation. Tonight was going so well, it almost seemed like it was more a movie she was watching, instead of her life she was experiencing.
Suki and Wesley were placed in the center on one side, with Alec and Ginnie placed on the opposite side. Ana and Aishe were at both of Fallon's sides, and everyone else filled in the remaining spaces. Fallon knew she had taken a coward's way out, by seating her two close friends on either side of her; however, without Cyrus there, she needed the security of her friends. Besides, getting better acquainted with those she didn't know well would be accomplished later in the evening.
She gave the head waiter the word that he could announce dinner, Fallon went in search of Cyrus, hoping to walk with him into dinner.
