Ger Kogji Party - Lanai

Now that you have entered the party and been greeted at the door, please feel free to step out onto the lanai. This is essentially a huge glass walled room where the pool, spa, koi pond and many seating arrangements are. There is a bar set up near the seating with a very helpful bartender named Frank making just about anything you could ask for. There is a tropical band playing in one of the larger open areas near the limbo pole.

The area is lush with plants, lit with tiny lights creeping up the support beams and in the water features. The pool houses several floating blooms at the moment so swimming would be frowned upon. There are two security guards dressed to match Dave manning the door off the lanai. Both are tall, muscular and vampire. Pestering either of them, Gestal or Stephan, seems like a daunting task. Thank you.

((This thread is for the party guests that wish to make their ways out into the warm porch to enjoy the sights, sounds and scents.))

Smiling sweetly in a classic Southern accent, "Oh, Miss Shay, Ah'm just a paragon ah virtue, just like cousin Amby. Ah didn't even do any lootin during them riots! Ah was helpin' secure businesses, ah was!"

Bringing it back to Nachton, she continued. "I dunno, I guess I'm not any goodie twoshoes or whatever, but I'm not one of those BAD girls. Like Fergie or whatever. S'cool that y'all work around your schedules an'its all good. Some peeps let that shit git in the way, and that sucks."

With Shay's school query, Dawn was uncertain how to proceed. Grinning, she held up her fists. "Weeeeeellllll...I'm not at the university, but I am learnin. Here for training. Lookit these knuckles...beautiful." Her knuckles, scarred and heavily raised from years of abuse before her change were still a sight to behold. At least now she'd never have to worry about arthritis. Hey, another plus!

Nodding at the mention at the third nastiest gang even in her time there, Dawn scowled. "DUDE! Those guys were DICKS...they're still 'round, but ain't th'force th'useta'be. Yeah, I remember them. Don't miss them at all, word."

Remember would be putting it lightly. Some of their initiations had happened near where Dawn had grown up. She'd never been shot at specificly, but she didn't like it much. Catch them holstered and they were just punching bags, but get iron in their hands and it was a different beast. Crazy. Shaking her head, she took a sip for the toast.

"CHAI YO!"
Sorin 18 years ago
Having acquired a glass of red wine, the Elder of the Night wandered near one of the congregations of conversing people. Sorin chuckled to himself upon entering the room and hearing Dawn affect an extreme Southern drawl. Her talents would be sorely wasted on the Hunt and he still hoped to snare her away for the Order of the Night.

He wandered over to stand near the bright haired Anantya who had just declared herself not entirely a saint... if not exactly in those words. Her typical speech lacked much in the way of higher education but she had shown herself to be capable of pulling that out of somewhere in her earlier performances.

There were quite a few Anantya in the room, though not any that he had spent a great deal of time with. Two or three guests were around that he did not know at all.

Sipping his wine, he looked at Dawn.

"What are we toasting?"Â?
Dawn Ratana 18 years ago
Managing to not start at the unexpected sound of Elder Sorin's voice behind her led Dawn to a realization - the alcohol was beginning to take effect. How lovely! Turning to the Elder, she smiled broadly, flashing her pearly whites.

"We're toastin' m'health! 'S'goodta seeyah! Sorin, this's Matthias - he works at Dweep Nay, I'm GUESSIN' on th'night shift. He's drinkin' Stoli. This's Shay - she's ex-LAPD, but we can't hate'r fer that since she wised up, quit...and didn't buy the bridge. She keeps diff'rint hours than Matty, but don't worry! They live t'gether so they still see each other'n stuff. An' they dun like th'Flores either. Oh, she's a Stoli, too."

Realizing that her speech was still pretty much normal, she decided to polish off her beverage. She'd have something a bit more watery, next, so that dinner would have a nice foundation of alcohol to help it digest. The timing would be almost perfect to alleviate the over-concentration of alcohol. She'd get the nice buzz on, but not fade into tipsy. Well...she never got tipsy, but 'tipsy behavior,' anyway. It wouldn't do getting into a fight in a clanmate's house without permission. Turning to the bar, Dawn guessed either a red or some champers, but the Elder had surprised her before. In her best imitation of Rupert, she asked

"Would a particular variety of alcoholic beverage be of interest to my lord? The bar is quite well stocked, tribute to one of Cyrus' lineage."
Ginnie 18 years ago
Ginnie and Alec entered the area that seemed to contain most of the party. As she looked over the small sea of faces she finally spotted two, no make that three that were pleasantly familiar ad one that made her spine go tight, and her throat go dry. She had absolutely no desire to mingle with one of the Anantya Elders, but since he was chatting with the people she did want to speak with, she had no choice. Well that wasn't true she could leave it up to Alec, maybe he knew more of the people in this room than she.

"So shall whom shall we grace with our presence first, the Anantya Elder and his court or someone less...distasteful?"

There Alec knew how she felt and she could get away with ignoring her friends for a few minutes. She would say hello to them soon enough. It was a cowardly thing for her to do, but she didn't see any reason for being uncomfortable right off the bat.

Curious, Alec glanced around. He couldn't match the Anantya Elder label to a face, so he played pin-the-coffin-on-the-elder. Looking around, he saw a few folks he didn't recognize. Whitey-as-an-islander, a banana enthusiast, a chick with blue hair and someone not in silly clothing, but what a wealthy, stylish tourist might wear instead of the banana split. He put his money on the Rich White Man, but he also seemed to be conversing with the person LEAST likely to be Anantya in the room. Stranger things had happened.

"Okay...I'll guess that the group over there is safe from elder predations, then. The coconut lady is Aishe - she ran into us at the ball, remember? Or, something like that. I'm sure I forget the precise details. She's there with Ana, who I met at the library, I don't know the man in the banana shirt. We can start there? We'll have to spin by Sweatervest, Shay and Amberelle at some point, though."

Amberelle DeEspionne 18 years ago
Amberelle didn't see the Elder as he approached, but was able to keep herself from acting startled when she heard his voice. Thankfully he had addressed Dawn so that gave her a moment to school her face into the perfect expression of welcome and respect before she turned towards him with a warm smile and a slight curtsey.

Even after a year she was still wary of the Roman. No one who was so highly regarded by her disgusting pig of a Sire could be as nice as she had observed Sorin to be. That made him even more dangerous in her opinion. While she had been accepted here and offered safety by Morrigan, she never forgot that the Nightsman was petitioned multiple times to return her to New Orleans. Avoiding irritating him was high on her to-do list.

Amby was relieved that Dawn had made the introductions, so she didn't have to think of a way to. A deep sip of her peachy drink for courage and then the Creole spoke her own greetings.

Good eveing, Elder Sorin. Taking a moment to observe how he had chosen to interpret the party's theme, she found something neutral to comment on. That's a very regal looking lei, it suits you.

"Ugh, way to kiss up Amby," she mentally berrated herself.
Ginnie 18 years ago
"Lead the way."

She smiled down at Alec, her shoes making her taller than him tonight. She remembered meeting Aishe the year before, Alec had nearly removed the girls clothing. It had been one of the funniest moments in their history. She was delighted to see the woman again, hopefully Alec would be able to keep from pantsing her today. Chuckling to herself she wrapped her hand around Alec's bicep and followed him over to the little knot of people. She would try and let him take the lead and introductions, if he started to flounder, she had no problem being his safety net. In fact, she was happy to.
Alec Devereaux 18 years ago
Watching for the natural pattern of the conversation, Alec tried to time their arrival with a natural lull, almost made it...and missed. Arriving mid-story was worse than arriving in an uncomfortable silence in his book - though the uncomfortableness could be awkward, it only left improvement. Arriving in the middle of a tale was more difficult, since it engineered an inequality between those who had heard the whole story and those who did not. The late arrivals would try to fill in as best they could, and were invariably scoffed at by the early birds. He'd seen it on both the soaps AND the evening crime dramas, so it must be a societal truth.

Smiling at the gathering, he nodded slightly to both Aishe and Ana. Winking, he quipped

"Ginnie has made me promise not to take your clothes off tonight, Aishe, so you should be safe. Mon coeur, Ana is the sultry young minx next to Miss Aishe. I've not yet met the man with the loudest shirt in creation. I'm Alec. We're trying something a little different this evening...we'll endeavor not to run over anyone physically or conversationally."

Realizing he was slightly nervous, Alec wondered why. Had he misread something? Strange. Perhaps it was just a collision of social circles.
Sorin 18 years ago
Sorin listened pleasantly to Dawn's introduction of who's who in their circle of conversants. He had to admit that her way of speaking lead for a wealth of information rather quickly. Things that might have otherwise not mentioned to the Elder of the Night.

The man that she called Mathias looked familiar but he had not seen him around The Manor recently. If he were Anantya then Sorin couldn't place him. Not entirely unheard of but he generally made a habit of knowing these things when he found there was an information deficit. It was possible that the man was one of the Hunt which might explain both why he did not know him and how he was friends with Cyrus. Of course all Anantya had been invited and then some so there really was no telling. Dawn had said he worked the night shift, giving him reason believe the twinge of familiarity.

He raised an eyebrow at Dawn's retelling of Shay's former occupation and her apparent intelligence for not only quiting but not getting suckered into a scam. Sorin did turn his eyes back to Dawn when she mentioned that the woman kept different hours than Mathias; was Dawn pointing out that she was human? Not many vampires would pull a daylight shift. Interesting information but some vampires liked to bring their familiars to parties in order to show them off.

"Good evening to you both and hello again, Amberelle."Â?

He smirked at the blonde's comment and gave a look down at the lei.

"Why yes, Cyrus seems to have excellent taste."Â?

Dawn once more did her impression of the Manor's chief butler and Sorin grinned at her.

"That will not be necessary, Rupert. Carry on."Â?

He held up his half full glass of red wine to further illustrate his words. Two more people came into the room. He gave them a passing glance, remembering them from some past social event...sitting amongst the Tacharan as he recalled. So the riffraff were being allowed to crash the party as well. Cyrus should speak to his security about that.
Ysabel 18 years ago
Ysabel was itching to continue talking horses, but this wasn't really the time or place for such things. She didn't want to discourage anyone else from approaching, and such a conversation would be limited to herself, Alex, and Ambrose. Dayle had never really had the same interest in horses as she.

She contented herself with saying instead, "You'd be welcome to ride one of mine if there's no suitable mount elsewhere for you. I'd be more than happy to have another riding companion."

Addressing his next question, moving into a more universal realm they could all chat about, she nodded to Alexander. "We arrived here a few months ago. Dayle is here to work, really, and I just came... well, because I couldn't exactly let her go off on her own."

She offered a wink and a cheery smile, glancing over to Dayle to let her fill in the blanks as she chose.
Alex West 18 years ago
"A most excellent suggestion Miss Ysabel." Alexander nodded.

"
And one I most certainly will take you up on."

Alexander finished the rest of his drink. The Lanai had become quite a busy little hive of industry and there were far more people here that he didn't know than did. And of course there was that enchanting blonde haired lady near the bar to introduce himself to.

Turning to Dayle, Alexander smiled.
"Miss Dayle, your lovely sister mentioned you came to Nachton for work. Might I be so bold as to enquire what line of work that may be?"
Aishe 18 years ago
Aishe looked up from Ana and Kem to see two familiar faces headed their way. With a little grin she protectively clapped one hand over her coconuts and gathered up her grass skirt with the other as Alec and Ginnie approached.

She had no time to do anything, really, except give them that little grin, before Alec was performing introductions. Dropping her hands away she stood smoothly instead. "Your efforts won't go unappreciated," she said with warm humor. "Particularly as I'm wearing a good deal less this year. Having it forcibly removed would be... a bit chilly."

Even as she spoke she moved forward to embrace first Alec and then Ginnie, who she'd only met briefly but remembered nonetheless. "It's wonderful to see you both. You look stunning together."

Filling in the only blank in the intriductions, Aishe gestured to Kem, who had stood as the couple approached and pushed back his sunglasses. "This is Kem. Kem, Alec and Ginnie... I met them both at the Creation Ball last year."

And had seen Alec on numerous occasions since. He looked well, though, Aishe thought, and she said as much, adding, "Would you care to sit with us a bit? If nothing else it'll remove the danger of running over anyone physically... though you might have to be on your own conversationally."
Kem`Raaisu 18 years ago
Standing and offering his hand to first one new arrival and then the next, Kem found himself doing pretty much the same thing he'd spent the night doing thus far... quietly measuring and observing the people Aishe had met in Nachton. Why? Who knew... he'd have claimed protectiveness, except for the fact that it was a bit late for that.

Maybe it was gratefulness instead, then, running on the assumption that everyone Aishe had introduced him to thus far had played some part, no matter how minor, in her safe stay in Nachton. Not that everyone walking around in Nachton came to grief; far from it, but from what he knew thus far, Aishe had come here lookng for trouble and by some miracle hadn't found much.

His smile, therefore, though small as usual, was no less warm than Aishe's as he greeted this new couple, Alec and Ginnie.

"A pleasure," he said, smile growing just a bit at the comment about his shirt. "I'd let the shirt speak for me... but I'm afraid of what it actually says."
Dayle 18 years ago
Dayle mentally snapped back to the 'here and now' when the talk of horses ceased. She loved the animals, as they were certainly regal creatures - interestingly befitting her regal sister - and were useful for a number of things, but she just didn't feel the awe, the connection that her sister seemed to exhibit when in their presence.

When Alex looked her way and asked what her 'line of work' was, she was extremely tempted to just say 'no.' Instead, in the interest of congeniality and courtesy, she replied,
"You may ask, however, I reserve the right to decline to answer. And since your next question will be -" and she tried to deepen her voice in poor mimicry of Alex's "- 'Miss Dayle, what is your line of work?' -" her voice returned to its normal, slightly nasal British lilt, and with a charming smile replied "- then I will simply reply that I am an executive assistant for a large firm in the city, and we will both graciously leave it at that."

Dayle was all too aware of the preponderance of Anantya; though she did recognize a few Tacharan from her dossiers and one-on-one meetings, as well as her trainings with Alec and Ginnie, she desired a modicum of anonymity for the night.
Ginnie 18 years ago
Ginnie returned Aishe's embrace and Kem's hand shake, with warm smiles. It was nice to start the evening off with a comfortable start. Then she shook hands with the little mouse of a girl Alec called Ana. She wasn't sure where Ana fit i with the other's here. She'd never seen a vampire that looked quite so...well mousey, nor did she think this girl was a familiar, which left Ana as a human friend to either Cyrus, that made Ginnie push down a chuckle, or Fallon. Well perhaps that could fit, one could sometimes over look the idiosyncrasies of an Anantya. Though Alec seemed taken with the girl as well, perhaps there was more to her than met the eye, Ginnie wasn't entirely convinced.

"It is a pleasure to meet you both." Ginnie looked around her briefly and found a nice little bar, she felt the need for a bit of a buffer all of the sudden. She had absolutely no right to be jealous of Alec's friends and she could and would control any urges to lash out. She was just being stupid.

"We would love to join you, but I think I am in need of a drink first."

She gently disentangled from Alec and moved smoothly to the bar. She asked for something pretty for herself and something fun for Alec. She ended up heading back to the small group with a tall skinny glass filled with something pinkish with an umbrella and a cherry called sex on Miami beach for her and a coconut filled with pina colada for Alec. She handed him the coconut and took a pull from her own. It made her eyes widen, Frank, as she'd learned his name was, was not skimpy on the alcohol.

Alec and she sat down, him next to Aishe and Ginnie beside him.

"Have you done anything fun and exciting over the last year Aishe?"
Montana 18 years ago
Ana arched her eyebrow at Alec's introduction of her - 'sultry young minx' indeed - and shook Ginnie's hand. "He's obviously already drunk, Ginnie, and it's so good to meet you." She was about to say something along the lines of 'you're lucky to have him' when something prodded in the back of her mind, telling her 'not such a good idea.' Instead, she graciously offered with a smile, "Won't you join us?" when Ginnie said she needed a drink.

Again her timing was off in saying 'I'll go with you,' the words dying on her barely formed lips, and instead just sat down next to Kem. One eyebrow furrowed as she watched the tall Scotswoman - she was a Scotswoman, right, with her accent? - head off to get herself a drink. Was she just snubbed? She wasn't sure. No one had ever quite reacted to her that way when introduced before. It confused Ana, more than anything. After a moment of watching Ginnie at the bar, she resolved to just 'go with it' and to be herself.

She also briefly wondered when Sultry Young Minx Ana was slated to arrive.
Shay 18 years ago
Dawn's introduction to Sorin made Shay chuckle, even if some of the younger girl's information seemed a bit stretched. It didn't matter to Shay. She found Dawn both unique to those she had met in Nachton, but reminiscent of some she had left behind in California, and that in itself made the blue haired girl an almost automatic friend. It was nice to see another California transplant, if nothing else.

But all the information Dawn provided on her and Alexi in a space of seconds, is what really made Shay laugh.

"Thank you Dawn, and it's nice to meet you Sorin. Though I've never had my life so succinctly summed up with such flourish before, what she said was pretty accurate."

Once those introductions were made, Shay wasn't at all surprised to be somewhat dismissed by the small group. People, no matter where, usually clung to the familiar when place among the unfamiliar. Cliques were a way of life, and no matter how hard a person tried to become a part of something outside their own circle, it was difficult. In a party setting it was nearly impossible, merely because people didn't have the time to dedicate to such an undertaking.

But Shay had Alexi, and her own small but growing circle of friends, two of which she just noticed had been among the new arrivals.

"Shall we go say hello to Alec, and Ginnie?" And along with those two Shay noticed Ana sitting among others. "And I can introduce you to the girl I met the other day...Ana...remember me telling you about her?"

Shay had told Alexi about the dance studio, and how she wanted to take lessons. She had even joked that if he deigned to take them with her it might be to his benefit in the long run. But she also knew that would probably never happen. His work was taking up so much of his time now that he had very little left over for frivolities. Tonight was a very special occasion because of that.

"Unless you wanted to say hi to someone else?"

Not knowing specifically what his work entailed, Shay had no idea if any of the party attendees were those Alexi worked with, or knew from work.
Alec Devereaux 18 years ago
Accepting a hug from Aishe, Alec got a weird spidery feeling on the back of his neck. Something was different about her, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He'd figure it out later. Smiling as he stepped back, he joked

"Well, we got through that safely. A bit dangerous, but we're all still clothed and no one is on the floor."

Shaking the man's hand, Alec smiled. He felt like he should remember why he was important, but figured Aishe would mention it. He suspected that this might have been the grief-giver that she'd spoken of before...her reason for being here. Well, looks like she'd reigned him in and dressed him, so things must be going adequately for her, at least. That shirt was a riot.

There would be time to figure all of that out once he'd figured out what he'd done wrong in Ana's introduction to get an unpleasant reaction from both Ana and Ginnie. Mental note - humble and accurate introductions when having Ginnie meet women for the first time. Well, one fewer things in the list of mistakes to make for the first time.

Accepting his...coconut, he smiled lopsidedly. He wasn't even really sure how to approach this...thing. It smelled like a pina colada, but was certainly more authentic than the ones he'd been accustomed to. Negotiating the straw into his mouth through the foliage, he managed to get a sip without putting out an eye. But it was tasty. Not his normal drink of choice, but it went with the theme.

Cocking his head toward Aishe, he listened for her response. He'd been out of touch for awhile, and there was obviously at least one new development.
Dawn Ratana 18 years ago
"Ok then! Anyone else want something? I'mma gita...um...7 7!"

Pausing long enough to get any pending needs, Dawn headed back to the bar. She was glad that Shay seemed amused that she'd summed them up so well. She was pretty sure Sorin caught on to the fact that Shay was a familiar and Mathias probably wasn't clan, but it was a party, so pretty much everyone here had to be in the know, right? Didn't matter. Any beans got spilled and the homeowner's association would probably fix it.

"Greetings, Amiable Bar Guy. I require drinks for my merry band."
