wiimatch Part 2

Christian ran a hand through his wet hair as he went down the stairs. His mood was much more relaxed than the anxiety and anticipation he had felt earlier in the day. He smiled to himself as he went to plug in the fondue pots and set out the final touches on the snacks for the evening. Cris wondered what Aishe would make of his aura now if she saw it.

He pulled out the holder with coasters he had made some time ago; realizing that this was the first time that they were being used. The coasters were all wooden boats, the hulls made much more shallow and flat on the bottom. The ring, lined with cork, was at the aft end and each had collapsible sails of different colours. The tiny details like portals and anchors were done in different metals. The holder was shaped like a wooden pier with the coasters stacked sideways between the pilings.

Turning to his companion that was busy hastily connecting the wii console to the television, Christian asked. "Need any help?"

((OOC: There are four ships, the sail colours are red, yellow, blue and green. The little masts flip up and lock into place. Why he made them....I don't know. ))

Rowan sneaked one more sad-eyed glance at Cris while he bent to pick up the remotes for the console and sent, [I will try. I'll be honest, strategy was never my forte. Pirates aren't known for their subtle maneuverings.] Straightening, he caught Eiryk's eye and gave the tiniest roll of his own then turned and handed Christian one of the wii-motes, his entire demeanor one that gave the impression of someone trying to make the best of a situation.

He gave Alex and Eiryk their controllers and started up the game, choosing the appropriate venue, the team battle. There were a few moments when they all selected their characters and vehicles, and then they started the game.

"Feeling brave enough to jump right in?" he asked Cris. "Or would you like to practice first?"

Flicking his wii-mote up he selected one of the faster characters in spite of the humor in it; Baby Peach and her Speed Stroller.

"I think we can do it."

Maybe Eiryk would think Rowan was eager to finish and move onto another game. Maybe Rowan was eager to finish and move onto the part where he could wrap his arms around Cris, pull him close, and...

He determinedly did not look at his team mate. It would only lead to bad things. Very bad things.
Eiryk 13 years ago
"Mmmmmm and you are worth a lot more than a hangover."

Eiryk really didn't like to think about how much Alex meant to him. It was scary and it was down right terrifying if he started thinking about Alex being human and possibly losing him. Eiryk physically had to shake his head to get that idea out. Alex was young and healthy he didn't have to worry about that for a while.

He lowered his voice considerably.

"I think I can manage upright regardless of sober."

Innuendo was so much fun. But his head shot up at Christian's words.

"Wait... is that an insult? It is kind of hard to tell."

Which was worry some as he was still sober. Not that Eiryk was ever terribly worried about any thing, he just eyed Alex and willed his lover to get him some more fondue ... anything covered in hot cheese had to be good.

"Just play pirate! None of this practice rubbish."

Although, Eiryk was immediately distracted by the coaster boats he couldn't help it, he started playing with them. It was quite hard to concentrate on character selection, which he did as fast as possible not even paying attention, while he worked out rigging and charted imaginary voyages for his blue boat.

"I might keep this..."
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
Alex laughed softly at Eiryk's insinuation. He nudged the blond gently. "Later."

He meant it, of course. Loving his boyfriend was top on his list of favorite activities. If they were awake enough to make it back to Eiryk's place, they were awake enough to have a little fun.

He smiled and let Eiryk play with his green boat as well, chuckling at the naval battle that was taking place. Eiryk distractedly picked Yoshi to play and Alex chose Toad; someone had to grab a character to rival Rowan's tiny speed demon.

"You can't keep it, Eiryk," Alex said, momentarily horrified until he realized his boyfriend was just joking. "They are awfully cute. Maybe we can get you some too."

They were only waiting on Christian to choose his character now; Alex turned to him and said,
"Don't listen to the viking. If you want to practice first, we'll practice first. It's no fair otherwise."

In the meantime he offered Eiryk his plate, with several pieces of fruit and cheese still on it. He wasn't sure what Eiryk's problem with fondue was. His boyfriend seemed halfway traumatized over it.
Christian Bern 13 years ago
[I recall that about pirates.] Strategy had always been his forte but there wasn't much needed here. He had been looking down at his controller wheel but had glanced up to see the last of Rowan's expression. Laughing inwardly, he figured they might have a lot of fun with this plan. [I saw that. Cut me to the core there. I'm hurt. That might require extra effort on your part later.]

"No.... just an observation." Christian smiled at Eiryk mischievously.

Cris sorted out how to select a character and picked the one that looked like a turtle which he figured was appropriate for the new guy and picked a bike like his team mate, who must have a reason for favoring it. Rowan's selection made him turn and raise his eyebrows at his companion.

"Good choice, lull them into a false sense of security with the bubblegum and those baby blues."

He looked over at Eiryk and noticed the other blond had found the coasters, chosen the blue one and was running it along the table in a battle with Alex's green one. Christian smiled, happy that someone enjoyed the toy part of the design.

"I can make you a set. Viking long boats?"

Thanking Alex, he decided to try out the practice first in the interest of future sobriety. It took a bit to sort out the weight of the wheel and it not being attached to anything along with how a tiny amount of movement sent the vehicle skidding all over the place. With help he sorted out the rest and let everyone know he was ready to play.
Rowan Murphy 13 years ago
[Haggling over it, are we?] Rowan did his best to hide a smile at Christian's words. [I solemnly swear you will have my best efforts. Every time.]

Rowan observed the mischievous smile Christian gave to Eiryk. God, it was adorable. How had Christian been single when they'd met? Impossible. He had claimed to be complex and difficult; Rowan didn't see it. Granted, their relationship was very new. But he didn't think Cris was hiding some unusually over-the-top alter ego from him.

"It gets them every time," he said to Christian regarding his choice of character. "No one realizes that inside, I'm a sensitive thing just trying to get in touch with my inner little girl."

He paid attention to the practice round, giving soft pointers to Christian along with Alexander who admitted he didn't know much about the game but had a great deal of interest in fair play. Glancing down at Eiryk's green and blue boat battle he raised his eyebrows at Cris.
"You made these?"

He picked up his yellow boat and played with it a little, fascinated by the working bits and the complex metal details.
"That's awesome" he said in surprise, very pleased to have learned something new about Cris. "They're so well done."

He gave Christian a tight smile, more for Eiryk's benefit. Yes, I have acknowledged he did something well and will compliment him even though I clearly don't really like him. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Jensen. Okay, so Christian was right - this distraction thing was amusing. If only it actually served to help stave off the desire to get physical. But if anything, it was only making it worse. Well. Rowan had patience. Later would come eventually. And it would be all the more enjoyable for having waited now.

When Christian was ready they fired up their first game. Rowan and Alexander had tried to show Christian the trick of attaining a speed boost right off the bat by hitting the accelerator button and holding it down at the right time during the count but that was a tricky thing to master and, in paying attention to Christian, both he and Rowan fell behind. Rowan caught up easily enough with his character's super fast ride but Alex and Eiryk combined were able to do better than he and Christian.

"Beginner's bad luck," he said, holding out his glass to Alexander, who was closest to the drinks. "We'll catch up."

He looked down at Cris.
"First shot is mine," he said. "Failure to provide appropriate guidance. That, and I really like tequila."

He grinned at Christian and took his shot, knocking it back quickly, and hitting the selection button to bring them back to the starting screen.
"Anyone need to swap toons or rides before we start again?"
Eiryk 13 years ago
The practice round was almost entirely skipped in favor of playing with the boat. Eiryk was utterly fascinated by them. He was quite impressed with Christian's hobby, or perhaps is had been a vocation at one point. Regardless, the skill had remained sharp.

He ginned openly, brightly, clearly liking the idea of having a set of his own and long boats at that. He nodded enthusiastically.

"I think we can arrange a trade of some kind..."

A couple of bottles of mead, he could knit something, he was quite good at slippers among other things.

There was a short sharp laugh at Rue's idea off getting in touch with his inner little girl. Ordinarily Eiryk might have said something about some of the more grown up girls his friend had gotten in touch with over the years. But Eiryk was holding out there might be a date or a relationship between Rue and Christian so he refrained.

It was all quite confusing though Rue was sending mixed signals. Eiryk just sighed mentally and decided to try and encourage ... something.

The race was run and he managed -not- to fall off the furniture, that wouldn't last, and he finished some where in the middle. Not bad for him.

He again raised a mental eyebrow. OK now Rue was being generous. Or maybe honorable. Damned it some one needed to tell him what was going on and soon.

"Nope, good here. Hit it boys."
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
Alex chuckled softly at the idea of Rowan's character reflecting his inner self. "Huh, what does that say about me?" He had chosen Toad.

He was also interested in the fact that Christian had made the little boat coasters that amused them all, but Eiryk had possession of the green one he'd claimed so he simply nodded in assent with the general consensus that the coasters were well made and paid attention to not coming in dead last during their first race. He was decent at the game so he did manage a second place finish behind Rowan, who came from behind on the last leg of the course.

He raised his eyebrows at Rowan, who stole the first shot.
"Very honorable," he said softly with a grin as he poured for the redhead. "Let's see if that holds after you lose a few more."

Hey, it was drinking night and they were on teams - Alex wasn't above a little friendly smack talk. Putting the open tequila bottle aside and replacing the cap lest anything spill on Christian's furniture, Alex shook his head at Rowan.
"I'm fine," he said.
Christian Bern 13 years ago
[I wouldn't say haggling. I would say laying down treaty demands for my emotional pain and suffering.] Cris knew Rowan was quite serious about that last part. [Your best efforts are mind blowing so I cannot possibly want for more.]

"We can trade if you like." He smiled at Eiryk. "I would say after we're done playing we could talk about it...but I might not remember anything that we say. So some time when we're both sober." He would make a set anyway. It seemed like a fun project. If Eiryk changed his mind then Cris could gift them to Alfarinn who's birthday was coming up anyway.

Turning to Rowan, he shrugged slightly. "Yes, I made them. Its something to do in my spare time." [Which I expect to have less of these days.]

Christian frowned at the screen in concentration but still came in last. He didn't think it had anything to do with the character though and he was pretty sure he'd do better the next time. It wasn't exactly driving while people were shooting at you...that was easier.

He nodded to Rowan about the drink. It was a sound strategy since they both knew that the redhead could handle it better, plus Rowan was better at the game. Smirking at Alex, he said. "Who knows he might play better drunk. It could be a zen pirate thing."

Cris shook his head no about changing anything with his character. It seemed to him that it was more user error than anything else.
Rowan Murphy 13 years ago
Rowan felt a brief surge of anxiety at Cris's sending. What if Cris grew bored with him? Had he given up his best work too soon? Should he have restrained himself? No, he couldn't possibly. He wanted to blow Christian's mind. He would have to keep it up. He took a deep breath. He wasn't exaggerating; he would give it his best effort. He just hoped the day never came when that effort wasn't enough.

[Guilty as charged there,] he responded. [I have traumatized you and will therefore try to do an even better job.] And keep trying. Because Cris was worth more than his best effort. Rowan didn't bother to analyze his feelings on the subject, which were very strong considering the newness of their association. He trusted himself; his abilities made him by default a decent judge of character. He couldn't predict the future so he enjoyed the now, and the now was very pleasant indeed. He hoped it would continued. And he would work to make that happen.

He nodded his understanding of Cris's explanation about the boats, looking slightly bored but polite. [They're fantastic,] he sent to Cris, glad he could be truthful here. [I don't want to come between you and your hobbies. You have to tell me if I do. Please. Although... I'm greedy too.] He echoed Christian's previous sentiment. [The idea of being included in that spare time makes me happy.]

He accepted Alex's gentle ribbing with good humor and shrugged at Cris's subsequent banter.
"I'm pretty sure that isn't the case, sadly," he said. "Maybe I'll surprise everyone though."

Since they were all ready he fired up the game again, choosing a different course but still and easier one. It wouldn't be fair to Cris to ramp it up too fast too soon.

Then again maybe it would. Less than three minutes later they won the race, Cris coming in far faster than his previous time. Rowan cast a glance at him, trying to seem detached and neutral yet approving at once. If they were going to string Eiryk along he wanted to do it properly.
"Not bad," he said. "Although I wouldn't have minded more tequila."

They set up for yet another round while the next shot was done.
Eiryk 13 years ago
That was too cute, Alex teasing Rue like that. But he always liked it when Alex did something like that. Even when he was the target, and he grinned watching the two of them.

"I don't know I might get a better deal if we discuss it after you lose a few."

He taunted Christian a little. But he did want the coaster, he had even concluded they'd look good in the decor in his apartment.

"Mead, I knit.... a bonsai tree? My first born?"

Well, that was going to be news to Alex. Actually, Eiryk didn't have any children, not mortal or immortal. And, to be blunt, he was shooting blanks so this was all on Alex if Christian accepted that offer.

The races started and Eiryk did pretty well, he was in first through the initial lap and then... well he didn't fall over but he did drop the wheel when going to pick up the while he managed to smack his head on something, he wasn't sure what, and by the time he was recovered and driving again he was so far out of it that it wasn't even funny.

"Yes, well you're going to have to lose more then pirate."

Eiryk declared before knocking back the tequila with gusto and almost immediately nudging Alex.

"Lime! That is what I forgot. I knew it was something."

Of course the tequila was good enough that they didn't need it but it was the principle of the thing.
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
Alexander nodded at Christian, readily admitting that Rowan might indeed play better when drunk. "We may yet find out."

He turned back to the television and then blinked at Eiryk.
"Your what who?" He favored his boyfriend with an appropriately wide-eyed expression. "How exactly did you plan to come by one of those?"

A Monty Python phrase flew into his head just then. Where's the fetus gonna gestate, you gonna keep it in a box?
"That's one hell of an offer," he said, completely losing track of the game... literally. His car flew off the track entirely.

It was fair enough that Eiryk took the shot for their loss. Alexander grinned as he did.
"Next time I'll remember it," he said.

They were even up, and that was just fine with Alexander. Hopefully he and Eiryk could hold their own. Christian's learning curve was a little scary.
Christian Bern 13 years ago
Christian gave Rowan a disbelieving mental snort. [Included? I think its all yours. I'm sure our schedules won't match so well all the time but what does is yours.] That thought made him a bit sad but they would sort it out. Being the Head of Security meant a lot of hours but it also meant he made his own schedule for the most part. [I would like to come watch you work some time.] If such a thing were possible, Doctor/patient privilege and all that.

"The deal is only valid if you manage to get me to sign a contract while drunk, otherwise verbal agreement while under the effects of alcohol are not binding...especially when one party cannot remember them."

Christian looked thoughtfully at Eiryk. "I do like children...How about a bottle of mead and a nice sweater?" He laughed as Alex turned, losing control of his car and demanded to know how his vampire boyfriend planned on coming up with a first born. "See, if he had just said child it would have been more plausible but somehow its 'his' first born and I'm not sure how that's happening."

When Eiryk did his shot and called for a lime, Cris looked over at the tray of fruit. "Sadly those tend to slide off the forks."
Rowan Murphy 13 years ago
Rowan nodded to himself at Cris's thoughts in his head. [I don't have to work as much as I do.] The thought of cutting back though... Rowan admitted he might be a little bit of a workaholic. Had they been seeing each other long enough for him to rearrange his schedule? Was there a minimum? Was two dates enough? [Maybe you can be an intern for a night. It happens.]

Rowan had passed all of his ethics classes. But after twelve hundred years he was pretty sure he could say with certainty that one person impersonating an intern for a night rotation at the ER wasn't going to bring the world crashing down around anyone's ears. Especially as he couldn't imagine Cris had any motive other then sheer curiosity.

He grinned at Alexander's reaction to Eiryk and laughed outright at the expression on his face. He had to admit it was adorable. Shaking his head he queued up the game again to start the next race.

***

An hour later, Rowan was no longer shaking his head. In a stroke of irony, it turned out that while he did not race any better after a few drinks, Eiryk... Eiryk did. The result was that they were very nearly tied up. Rowan and Christian had actually lost a few more races than Eiryk and Alex. In the spirit of keeping Cris upright Rowan had taken a few more shots. Christian was looking a little wobbly after seven. Rowan had counted ten in all, including the one he'd downed on the first game.

It was some small consolation that Eiryk had had almost as many as Rowan... or it would have been, if he hadn't been driving like a pro. Good thing Alex, at six shots, had not upped his game after driving off the track the one time. And every time he did, he giggled at himself... which served to make him fall again. Which made Rowan laugh... and fall off the track too.

It was amusing, to say the least.

As they lost another race Rowan turned to Cris and nudged him in the shoulder.
"You forgot to remind me to stay on the track," he said, grinning. He wasn't sure Cris could see the track. He was sort of... squinting at the TV screen.

[Stay with me,
a ghra,] he sent; they had been talking this way for the entire time and Rowan had grown used to Christian's voice in his head. [Maybe it's time to switch games?]

Rowan took the shot for losing their current race and then put his wii-mote down.
"How about a new challenge?"

He wove over to his duffel bag, unsteady on his feet but not falling-down drunk yet, and pulled out the wii sports case. He held it up, brows raised.
"This could be fun."
Eiryk 13 years ago
"I thought I'd get you drunk and -then- ask you."

Eiryk chirped happily at his boyfriend before dissolving into giggles as Alex flew off the track.

Some where in the course of the evening Eiryk wondered why Kem Aishe and Pak had never made this a drinking game. Although he wondered if he was getting better of if the drinking was making every one else worse. Oh who cared, they were winning... he thought.

Alex was getting giggly and silly and he was doing his best to look more sober than he was, fortunately he'd had lots and lots of practice.

"Never! No new rules unless you concede that we beat you fair and round... square."

The sports case looked like fun though. Although Eiryk questioned the wisdom of drunken tennis. In fact, he questioned the wisdom of any kind of active game with him in the house. He might have to take out an insurance policy or get used to the idea that Christian might not be so keens on inviting him over gain.

Reaching over ran his hands through Alex's hair and smiled.

"OK you have me interested by if I broke it you bought it. What are the new rules?"
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
Alex wasn't as drunk as last week... but he was definitely drunk enough to feel loose and silly. And definitely a little too drunk to keep himself on the more complicated tracks. Watching his poor toon plummet repeatedly to its death only made him chuckle with amusement. The good news was apparently it had a similar effect on Rowan.

He waved his hand at Eiryk and shook his head.
"No, it was pretty much even."

He was ready to switch games for sure, especially if they were going to go back home. Alexander didn't mind spending the night here but he vastly preferred being at Eiryk's in the big comfortable bed, curled up around his boyfriend with his head on his chest. To that end it behooved them to call it good and not argue the point.

Eiryk's hands in his hair made him turn, sighing happily, into his boyfriend's arms. He hugged him tight, kissing him softly on the lips, and then removed the wii-mote from Eiryk's steering wheel. He carefully slipped the wrist strap around Eiryk's right hand and tightened it snugly.

"There you go," he said with a crooked smile. "You're all set. Just don't fall too far."

He had already taken up a position between Eiryk and the table of food. Hopefully if Eiryk lost control the only thing he'd hit was the couch.
Christian Bern 13 years ago
[Okra?] Christian turned to look at Rowan before remembering that they were sending and he shouldn't be looking at the redhead. So far he had been diligently keeping up with two things, the game and the little ruse they were trying to pull off. He just had to remind himself repeatedly to keep his hands to himself, which wasn't so hard if he focused on the task like he would a mission.

At least it wasn't yet. The edges of things were starting to get a bit blurry.

[I am not sure I approve of this nickname.] Cris chuckled. [Just what are you trying to say? I'm short, fuzzy and green?] Maybe he was too drunk to make the connection.

He peered at the box that Rowan held up. It showed various different things which was kind of confusing. Which game were they playing? Shrugging Christian nodded. He could only get so drunk, right? Then he passed out and Rowan would have to make do with having his way with his unconscious body. Not how he planned to end that night, but it would definitely be fun to wake up to.

"Okay. What is it?"

Christian went for some more fondue, dipping a strawberry into the chocolate and popping it into his mouth. It'd help with the alcohol right? That was his theory anyway and it seemed sound enough at the moment.
Rowan Murphy 13 years ago
Rowan caught Cris's glance and was tempted to pull him close. He held off though, looking down at the case in his hands. [A ghra,] he said with exaggerated pronunciation - as much as he could through sending. [It's Irish. I'll explain to you later. Although Okra has a nice ring to it.]

Out loud he said,
"Wii sports. A few different games. You play by mimicking the actual motions of the sport. I thought we could start with tennis. That way we can keep our teams."

Loading the disc into the console Rowan drew close to Cris as he turned away from the table with the snacks on it and took the Mario Kart steering wheel from him. Removing the wii-mote from it he took advantage of the fact that he was blocking at least Eiryk's view and tossed the steering wheel onto the sofa.

"Here. Slip this loop over your hand, that way if you let go for whatever reason, you don't endanger your decor."

In the meantime he gently slid his fingertips beneath the sleeve of Cris's shirt, tracing a bit of the tattoo that marked it. It was a brief caress, gentle and light, lasting for just the second or two it took to affix the strap properly around Cris's wrist, which he did with his other hand.

Turning away he fixed his own wii-mote, noting that Alex had done so for Eiryk and was now doing his own. He smiled brightly, trying to forget the momentary touch he'd been craving.

"So. Shall we?"
Eiryk 13 years ago
Eiryk could see Alex getting a little on the fuzzy side and thought it was adorable. Especially when he got a little but cuddly. He smiled into the soft kiss and nibbled at Alex's lower lip for a second just because he could. Yes it was a little rude to play so blatantly with Rowan and Christian in the room, but well... Alex...

He was a bit leery of the sports games. Again, one he had played but this was even more dangerous. Maybe if they had picked something less active than tennis. Well what was done was done. At least he had really played tennis with Alex not too long ago so this shouldn't be too bad. Still, he groaned at the selection accusing Rue of doing this to him deliberately.

As they played the games Alex was obviously keeping an eye on him and did save a few bobbles here and there and more than once he was thankful for the wrist strap as the wii mote just sort of... escaped. Damned thing could hurt too.

But, all things considered things were going fairly well, the teams were sort of almost evenly matched although Christian and Rowan seemed to be pulling a head slowly and steadily. The last game, however, clinched it. He wasn't sure how he did it but Eiryk felt his feet go out from under him. He feel backward onto the couch. But apparently that wasn't good enough as he started to flip over the arm. Lord only knew how but Alex managed to stop him from doing a header onto the floor and even pull him back onto the couch in a bit of a lovely heap.

They might have won that game except for the fall... but Eiryk couldn't stop laughing. It was worth another shot for this. Still laughing he shook his head,

"I don't know if I won or lost!"
Alex Aristos 13 years ago
It was difficult to play wii tennis while a - drunk; b - watching Eiryk's wii mote; c - keeping Eiryk from falling over; and d - drunk. Was that d twice? Or was it drunk twice? Alex didn't think it mattered.

At any rate, it didn't surprise him to see Rowan and Christian win this match. Christian's learning curve continued to be freakishly steep even when drunk, apparently, and although Rowan had done more than ten shots now, he was still freakishly steady on his feet.

And Alex, Alex was hitting a forehand toward Cris's character and then turning in time to see Eiryk as he somehow managed to fall both backward and sideways. Alex forgot about the game, lunging toward Eiryk, catching his arm and pulling him up before he could go flying too far.

He sighed at Eiryk, regaining his own balance, and grinned.
"Almost fairly won," he said to Rowan and Christian. He poured a shot of tequila and held it up in a little toast to Eiryk. "I'll take this one," he said, "in the interest of keeping Christian's furniture intact for as long as possible."

He downed the shot and helped Eiryk into an upright position.
"You know, we could play just as well on the couch."

Alex plopped himself down next to Eiryk with a smile.
"Carry on!" he said, hoping they were safer now.
Christian Bern 13 years ago
Irish, well that makes more sense than calling him a vegetable. Christian nodded. When Rowan suggested okra had a nice ring to it, he retaliated. [So does corn. So keep that in mind.]

At least he had played tennis before and knew the rules. Cris doubted that it would help him much; knowing how to drive certainly hadn't. Rowan came over to show him how to put the strap on his arm. Christian smiled as he was helped with this elementary task. At least until his companion's fingers slid along his skin in a small private caress. He watched the green-grey eyes as this 'aid' was administered; his gaze hungry with temporarily denied longing.

When Rowan left, Christian turned his attention back to the table, finding it necessary to focus on a few more bites of food before he could safely move back to the game.

Once they began, he found that virtual tennis was fairly similar to its actual counter part. Somehow the sound of the ball hitting your racket was almost enough to make up for not fully feeling it. Vampiric speed and reflexes did not satisfactorily counter drunk when a certain amount of focus and mental reaction time was required. However, they held their own fairly well. Cris was pretty sure they would have won without Eiryk's backward retreat onto the couch.

Looking back at the couple piled up in a heap, he said with a smile for the other blond's good humor. "I don't know either but I do know you've got a drink coming to you."

Alex took the drink in an effort to save his living room. "The sofa thanks you for your sacrifice."

The other couple continued to sit and he looked over at Rowan. [Do you think we're better off standing?] They might burn off a little more alcohol with the activity and they had more room to swing without knocking each other out; however sitting down might be more stable. Cris was happy either way.
